I was working out of state for 3 yrs. When I returned to ca I was helping a friend move and a cop stopped for a routine check. San Diego had a warrant out for me over a fix-it ticket from 5 yrs earlier. First time I ever went to jail. I had junked the truck and mailed in the receipt with the ticket. I had to go back to San Diego to get it straightened out (7 hr drive from where I lived). They had the receipt when I went to court the case was dismissed. Rod

I would go with Rick's brake mod if I had any problems with the brakes on a 2nd gen. He has done all the research and I have no doubt his system is even better than advertised. Ride safe Rod

Like I tell the students, practice, practice, and when you are done more practice. The Venture is a bit of a hand full but using proper technique it brakes well and controlled. I use the Venture when I teach the ERC and it took some practice but I can handle it just fine. I'm 5'7" and 165 lbs. hang in there and you will be fine. Rod

Thanks for the reminder to K.I.S.S. the trouble shooting...keep it simple stup...well you know. Run into that with the range bikes all the time. They will be tagged out with all sorts of major problems by the other coaches and it will be the side stand or clutch switch. Rod -
I think you have a "popcorn" finish on the ceiling. Strip the finish off and check for proper nail/screw pattern I bet there are not enough nails/screws to hold the drywall up or they broke the drywall with the fasteners. Good luck and don't go cheap fix it right. Rod

There are many variables as to what bike will be good for her. Cruiser, dual sport, sport bike. What will she use the bike for? The shadows are good bikes, Suzuki's aren't bad but don't handle as well as other choices. Virago's are light weight and bullet proof and handle well but not great for lots of freeway, Kawasaki V twins are good but could be a bit heavy for new riders. Good luck with whatever she wants. Rod

What Squidly said minus Bohemian Rhapsody (Rose hates that song) and add Charlie Daniels, some Willie Nelson, Marshal Tucker, Stevie Ray Vaughn , Allman Brothers, Alabama, Dr. Hook... oh too many tunes now my brain hurts. Rod

Just looked up the website for your knife, what a good deal for you! Why not a Buck, Case or other name brand for a field knife? Good luck Rod

There is a gas station that I go to and if I use one of the driveways I bottom out if I am 2 up. It is the pipes that hit due to the slope of the driveway and the dip of the gutter. Have you looked at the bottom of the exhaust to see if that is what is hitting? Good luck Rod

I had to take the truck to the range to fix bikes. I wanted to ride it is 80+ deg perfect riding weather and I had to work. My back has been toast for the whole month and the weather has been GREAT. Ride to the AM class and need the heavy jacket and chaps come home in tee shirt. I wish I could handle the pain better so I could get out more. Oh well what does not kill you makes you stronger. Any one want to come to San Diego and ride some of my bikes so the battery's don't go dead? Torn Disk Rod

I can see some of the beginner riders I have in class liking this bike. The drawback is the price. We get a lot of short/small students that would want a bike like this. I think it may find a niche if the price was a little better. Rod

I say every biker needs 6 bikes: a) touring bike for trips with the wife/so b) Beater run around town/errands c) show bike fancy low miles d) old bike (1st gen) for nostalgia e) full dirt bike for the desert f) dual sport for hunting camping Now all I need is the funds. Rod

When I was in the USAF K-9 we had just the sleeve, no padded suit. We had several dogs that left bruises through the padding and hit hard enough to take you off your feet. I still have scars from the wrap with a hole or coming loose. Omar my squad leaders bomb dog was sent to Lacland AFB to test a bite meter ... he broke it 3 times! no one wanted to catch him. He broke 4 hands and 2 arms through the wrap that I know of. The first thing you did as a newbie was catch Omar,Pete and Big Baron, if you could do that you were in if not you went back to Law Enforcement. Rod

Could be several things. I would start with the float level and work from there. Non firing cylinder is possible and I would take it in for warranty work ASAP to be on the safe side. Good luck Rod

I am not sure of the part you need; but to make a copy could you make a "rubbing" of the part rather than having to remove it? Then you could cut a template for the chrome tape. Rod

Part right, No M1 endorcement needed for 3 wheels. You still need a helmet unless you have a seatbelt on the "trike". You can also get your M1 using a scooter of more than 49cc. Rod
