Test rode a Royal Star today, HELP?
awsmsrv replied to GilliganJ's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
A couple of things come to mind. Standard front tire is 150. Some have put on a 130, which will make it more likely to do what you describe. If it's combined with the other thing (different leveling links), some here who have done both didn't like it with both. Typically, it's one or the other. I went with the leveling links only & it improved the low speed handling. I'm sure others will chime in on their experience. Ask (or look again) about the front tire size. -
Yep. I've got the PIAA Extension white plus & the H3 version in the passing lamps. Replaced the originals as soon as I bought the bike. Going on 9 years now & never a problem.
-
Doesn't surprise me at all. Saw a guy on a bicycle last week doing it as well, no hands on the bars. They walk among us. Scary stuff.

I don't quite have what you're looking for, but, I do have the rear luggage rack, studded tour trunk & expandable tank bag, if those interest you (her).
-
When I bought them I got the v star lamps instead of the venture sealed beam so I could change the bulbs easily. I bypassed the switch on the left lamp & put a push button lighted switch next to the left speaker.

I've got the PIAA H3 XTreme White Plus (35w) in my passing lamps & the PIAA H4 XTreme White Plus (60/55w) in my headlight. All have been going strong for about 8 years now. Couldn't be happier.

As far as padding goes, the Big Agnes bags have a sleeve on the underside for sliding in the pad of your choice, i.e., no slipping off the pad. YMMV. This thread could go the way "oil" threads go. Everyone's got their favorites. Enjoy your search, but, do your research.

Take a look at the Big Agnes Lost Ranger. Good down to 15°, but add 10-15° for comfort level. Filled with down, so, light & packs down pretty small. REI is a good place to go for sure. I've also got the REI Half Dome 2 man tent. Typically, get a tent that claims 1 more person than you want, unless you want to sleep like sardines in a can.

Anyone with any experience wearing MOTOPORT kevlar?
awsmsrv replied to Barrycuda's topic in Watering Hole
I've been wearing Motoport jacket & overpants for about a decade. Great in the heat since it's mesh. 10 times stronger than leather & half the weight. Waterproof windproof liners zip in when it's cold &/or wet. There's even a thermal liner for the jacket if you need that. I've also got the Kevlar racing gloves. They too are great in the heat, but run a little small. All other gloves I wear medium, but, with these I wear a large. Yes, they are custom made to your exact measurements. I have the hi viz for the jacket. I've had the zippers replaced on the pants, some snaps replaced on the jacket & now am about to have them replace the waist band on the pants. They are guaranteed for 7 years if I remember correctly. I love the stuff. Couldn't be happier. You can't go wrong. The best money you can spend on protective clothing. I'd say 10 years with minor repairs along the way is a good testimony. -
I use this as well. I do have the Küryakyn that I've never used. If you want it, it's yours for $30. Let me know.
-
I rode my RSV for 7 years in Seattle & only had the gloves & I was perfectly comfortable (rode year round unless ice on the roads). Now I'm back in SoCal & haven't needed the heat yet. During winters up there, I'd just put in my windproof, waterproof liners in my MC pants & jacket.

This won't work on my iPad or iPhone & I don't have a computer. Is there any other way to add them to "My Favorites"?
-
This might be what you're looking for.

Yeah, remember when they were talking about another ice age back in the '70s? Sheesh. Of course, now they've changed it to "climate change". Doesn't the climate change every day? every week? every month? every year? Call me cynical, but, I don't believe any of it.

Sheesh, take my fun away. I try to be a malcontent & look what happens? You respond with a perfectly logical explanation. No wonder you make the big bucks. Nothin' gets by the bossman, I tell ya. Btw, I do appreciate all the time you spend to make this site what it is. No better forum around. (Think I'll go back to my corner now & lick my wounds.)

True, but, the old site still listed it, just no longer in bold, so you knew that you'd read it, but could still go back to it if you wanted. No matter, I'll get used to it (maybe).
-
Yeah, I get that, but, it used to show up as read in regular type (not bold). Now it doesn"t show up at all unless you click on Today's Posts or go to the forum where it was posted. Within the forum it shows the way it used to when you used to hit New Posts.

How about a cruise ship? I never thought much about them until I went on one. Great way to go.
-
OK. This is still bothering me. To get to a thread that I've already read, I have to go to Today's Posts because it disappears from view when I hit New Posts. Any way to get around this? (As if you don't have enough to do. Thanks.)

Another question then: since I first replied to your now deleted response, to get back to this thread I had to click on "Today's Posts". Seems a round about way to get back to it. -

Thanks Eck. I have seen that. So, it's just different from the old one. Good. I thought it was me. -
How do I change this? Previously, when I hit "New Posts", unread posts were in bold & ones I'd read were not bold. Now the ones I've read don't even show up. TIA.
-
Yes. That fixed the History/New Posts problem.
