    -Good morning to all, I need the measurements of all the brake hoses for a 1984 VR? There is a manufacturer That is on E-BAY today but I need to give them the information so they can build me a set in stainless steel. I also need the clutch hose length. Thanks for the help I know is coming as always. Just want to say that I am overwhelmed when I think of all the knowledge that I have access to because of all the good work running this site.

    I would really like 1 of those tools for the first gen's. But I can't spend any more money on the bike this month and would have to wait until the middle of September before ordering it. Great looking tool,very nice indeed.

    I have just sent a question to the vendor and ask if they would ship here if I paid the shipping charges up front. No problems, I was turned down just once. That was for a set of progressive springs. I just bought the set That was on the forum from Bill so it all worked out.

    The gas tank was the first thing I did when I bought my bike. The next year it was painted and ready for my first ride ever on a Venture. My carbs have been clean ever since; I took my gas tank into another shop where I've send over 100 tanks, during the last 25 years, and they always do a great job. Well worth the effort if you have the time and tools and this source of information.

    Thanks for that link, I just ordered 1 for my self. I have been looking for awhile now and just forgot to ask.

    Motor cycle tires need heat in them to run effectively, low tire pressure will build heat quickly and over heat as well. I set mine 3lbs. below the maximum on the tire. Over pressure could also wear a tire out sooner than it should.

    Try finding a lock washer or a locking nut. It will help.

    Have you tried jumping the starter solenoid with the key on?

    Just wondering if you looked inside the gas tank? Use a flashlight not a Bic lighter.

    What bothers me is the gas in the system was bought a a lower price than what is predicted for the future. So how come?

    When was the last oil change? If you slowly release your clutch lever when it sticks getting into first it might help the trans to move.

    No pressure in your clutch might be master cylinder and slave cylinder rebuild time.

    I have had plugs that would only fire correctly if I held them away from a ground. New plugs are cheap and you will know it's not them. New caps are a good idea as resistance builds over time. Resistance is also building in me over time but that's another thing. Good luck!

    I will add my welcome to an awesome site. There are down loadable work shop manuals on this site as well as schematics for some electrical mods that have done. If this bunch of wonderful people can't fix a problem then sell the bike. You will get answers the same hour that you post most of the time. You will love it here.

    You folks south of us can count your selves lucky that you can shop around. Our only choice is the provincial government. Last year mine was $1495. for the year. If you want to pay monthly it's $340. each month for the 5 month riding season then from the end of September until the 3rd of may, for me, I pay the full 7 months for $72.00.
