I got tired of changing Yamaha seals, and tried automotive seals. The set that is in there now have been there about three years, I can get the number when I get home at around 0500 am if you like. frank

RSV much worse in crosswinds than 1st Gen?
Pam replied to Grisolm1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I am with SilvrT and Seaking on this. More wind= more speed, and once you know how a 1st Gen is going to react you can do it all day long frank -
I have a blonde 83 which is running strong, and know a guy who has an 85 frank

I would be leaning towards the converter, With it running put a hand or one of those laser temp gauges on the exhaust before the converter and take a reading and then check after the converter, should be about the same. I have had a few vehicles that acted that way and once the converter was in the bush they were fine. frank

You have to put them on at the first frost and not take them off (except to run them through the washer) until you mow the grass for the first time. Get a good set of those space age ultra lite ones that are thin. You won't even know you have them on. frank:080402gudl_prv:

Yes my health care might be free at the Dr. office but every year I pay ba big bunch of taxes. about 40% of my gross income. The more someone screws with it the more taxes I pay. You could say I pay for my own health care, And I too have a hearing loss. Not from loud pipes, but a life time in a loud enviorment ,small arms and rifle too. I grew up on a farm and many night went to bed with that tractor pounding in my ears and it was still pounding in the morning. My plan does covor it. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on some things..... I also log in as Pam because I needed something unique that I could remember. To many protected work passwords that keep changing, and my brain is like a steel trap that has been left in the rain to long frank.

It does effect me, because I have to pay for his hearing aids through increased insurace rates for medical. Same for the slolen bikes recovored at check points, and unlicensed uninsured unqualified rider. I have to pay the owner of the stolen bike through priemium increases and his medical bills when he crashes, Like I said just my opinion, but opinions are like other things every one has one frank

I recall merging with traffic and hearing this loud roar, coming up behind me at a fast clip. The guy had straight pipes, no ear plugs and a half helmet....Next step is fast forward a few years to him asking for hearing aids from some insurance company because he can't hear. Pipes have their place in traffic in my opinion but I shouldn't be able to hear the bike three blocks away. Just my opinion. But opinions are like some other things every one has one. As for profiling.... checking a bunch of bikes heading to a bike rally is a good time to check for license insurance registration etc. I have a little experience in this area and know a rally is an excellent time to find stolen bikes, illegal bikes and riders. Those who ride illigally try to hide in a crowd of legal riders. We have all rode down the road and either joined a group or been joined by other riders and have no clue who they are. After having said that it is also my experience that those who ride cruisers and touring bikes are well above board. I can't recall the last time I saw one of these bikes laying on its side, usually there is a four wheeler involved. I can not say the same for the crotch rockets however frank

I am with Trader on the rain vs snow. At least you can ride, and you don't have to shovel it. I have tried the snow equivalant and like to ride without a ski doo suit. Last weekend couldn't see accross the yard for snow and blowing snow. A wise 18 year old decided to walk home from a bombadire that was stuck on the ice in the storm/blizzard That was friday when I went home saturday he was still out there some where, and he had a skidoo suit. can't wait for the grass to show frank:snow:

We got lots of it here to export. I would deliver except it is dumping it down and blowing it all over so bad I Can't see accross the yard. Good thing is it is only -5 C or about 25 F frank:depressed:

Its a blond just like mine. I love it, it is quick, sporty the cross winds don't bother it, and when some four wheeler starts to crowd you.....you just leave. I really like it for solo riding. Once you get the bugs cleaned out she will do you proud frank

I don't know boys, I don't mind cutting grass, because I can do it in a tee shirt shorts and sandles. and I don't have to think. I don't mind blowing snow either I just don't like the skidoo suite and boots and mitts and toque and the cold, and ya have to pay attention a bit. Got a heat wave today -5 F (-23C) this morning better that yesterday -20 F (-30)C yesterday morning frank

I would try for new ring as well. The engine will be new with old rings,(55000 miles) and we all know what happens next. Oil burn Keep us up to speed Dave fsc

If it was me I would be going for the buick, My neighbour is on his second one, and he is pretty picky when it comes to vehicles. I don't know what he has for power under the hood though. $6000.00 seems pretty steep to me. I am on my second 3.4 with no intake issues (so far, and touch wood when I say that) frank

I missed P 2 of this thread and was leaning towards a head gasket in this case. Glad to hear it was other issues. Just keep an eye on it cause sometimes an over heat can weaken head gaskets frank
