  1. Putting on a new dry filter will result in the oil level dropping just a small amount after the engine is run the first time. I've found that a brick or 2x4 under the kickstand will bring the bike to almost level, such that the bike can be further leveled easily while looking at the sight glass. Some members use a mirror on a rod so that they can observe the oil level while in the seat.
  2. yep. You're the 4th member to get that tire...
  3. Somethings wrong when its as warm in Saskatchewan as it is in Georgia. .. Glad you had a good day for riding Brian
  4. 4qts is too much oil. It'll overflow
  5. I've never seen any breakdown of where the individual parts are made.

  12. Thats the belly dancers...
  13. I believe I've heard of it being done, but usually its done the other way around. I have both a RSTD and a RSV with the old style seat. The RSV seat is more comfortable. The old style seats should be easy to find used at a good price. Send it to Rick Butler to be modified and you should be happy unless you really need a custom seat.
  14. unless its a large package over 108 combined inches using the less expensive Priority International usually gets to lower Canada or western Europe in under a week from the US. If I need 2-3 day delivery, then I use Express. And I always use an international delivery confirmation card on packages. If one has an expensive item, it is possible to use registered mail end to end. ie: the package gets a signature and stamp every time it changes hands.
  15. There have been some deals on new 2011 Ventures on ebay lately, real tempting... Remember to post pictures of your new ride when you get it.
  16. You did good. Here in north Georgia very few secondary roads have driveable shoulders which unfortunately removes one panic move option. And more and more divided highway medians are strung with cable between steelposts which are cycle shreaders. But I always try to drive with an eye for what to do in an emergency like you had. btw did you get the vehicle license of the person who piulled out in front of you to give the police?
  17. Most of the dimensions limits like the 108inches width+girth can not be exceeded with USPS, irregardless of what one is willing to pay. It does vary somewhat country to country. And USPS has a co-op agreement with Fedex for large packages that exceed USPS sizes, I'm not sure if that gets into the end user fees or not. I've only used that once for Australia, and am not sure of what end fees were charged in addition to duties.
  18. USPS Priority Mail is generally the least cost way to ship packages internationally, not only Canada. However, you need to check the package dimensions, and maximum insurance which will vary from country to country. generally maximum size is 108inches girth plus length, but some countries is less.
  19. I can't look....
  20. its true.I heard it on the Tonight Show.
  21. good pics - thanks heal fast buddy
  22. Glad you're mostly Ok Brian. shame about the bike though.
  23. I presume you know that Atlanta (home of the Atlanta RUSH HOUR) is dead in your path? Taking the beltway around the west side is better than either going straight thru or the east side in the early morning. (maybe, but don't hold me to it) But hey, if you've made it thru Nashville and Chattanooga, you'll be a pro.
  24. great. that means I can eat your share of the icecream plus mine at MD next year. See, I can help.
