  1. I presume you're talking about a 1200vmax engine in a venture?
  2. Looks like it will be the Spring version of Helen's Octoberfest? I'd have to find a designated driver....
  3. save me some of those buckwheat pancakes and maple syrup for July and the International Rally
  4. The Sears red lift seems to be a good one that is frequently on sale. I've had one for many years.
  5. A riding buddy of mine has a 1200cc vMax. I've ridden it a couple of times. Lots of acceleration and too quick for my tastes. It has too high of a seat for my 30inch inseam. Researching the vMax engine after riding my friend's is what brought me to buy my RSTD a few years ago, as I liked the idea of a somewhat tamed version and the ability to flat foot it.
  6. not sure what the problem is but 50wt oil is for air cooled engines, not water cooled like ours.
  7. member wes0778 is Walter. His son is Wes. Wes has a Hyosung that has been at several VentureRider Rallies in the recent past. You'll see it in the pictures from Vogel and MD in 2009/10 (I think)
  8. so what happened? sounds like an infection got in some way.
  9. Ok, since kbran has hinted at how its done. Southern cooking doesn't use recipe's. Ya just add a little of this and that until it tastes right.
  10. I got 10,000 out of the oem Bridgestone on my RSTD before it was shot. I expect the trike is harder on tires than an RSTD. You'd be pushing it to do a 3k rt. If you have room to pack the new front, then maybe have it mounted halfway into your trip somewhere while keeping an eye on the old one.
  11. I've yet to visit the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum in Maggie Valley. Maybe I could get up there to visit the museum while you're in Maggie Valley. http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com/images/stories//bodyphotos/mckenraffle.jpg http://www.wheelsthroughtime.com/
  12. looking good
  13. August is good. I'll probably just ride up from Georgia on Saturday as I have done in the past.
  14. prayers sent. may he pass thru with grace
  15. I get it at Walmart or Kroger. Its the mixed cajun spice. http://www.tonychachere.com/

  17. I'd hang in here a while. some people have converted to the larger carbs and are likely to have a set of the origonals looking for a new home.
  18. I'd run a couple tanks of gas heavily treated with Seafoam or maybe Techron concentrate or BG44, before tearing into the carbs. let it set a few hours in the carbs and ride it again.
  19. Dice up some Spam and toss in a saucepan. Use a fork to smush it up while browning. Add water & bring to boil. salt & pepper to taste add grits. stir. Cook till done.
  20. That doesn't seem to be a good url
  21. If more drivers were prosecuted the others would suddenly start to think more clearly.
  22. although if you want it for a reliable backup bike, I'd pick the Vstar
  23. You shouldn't need to worry about valve adjustment until 26,000 miles. If you just want to do it because you'll be going thru everything, then contact me when you get close to the time and I'll send you a shim kit with tool, or buy a new set of gaskets from sky_doc and he'll loan you his kit. if the bike will be off the road while you work on it, get a good set of metric feeler gauges that can measure in 0.01mm increments from 0.10mm up to 0.30mm, pull the valve covers, and measure the clearances per threads in tech section or in the maintenance manual. If the clearances are within spec, you don't need to worry about having a tool or spare shims and can put it back together for another 26,000 miles.
  24. replace the covers or replace the gaskets?
