You and Tom will enjoy the fresh veggies. I've given up on veggie as the deer and rodents eat them all. So I've switched to flowers with a bad taste to the critters.

In general, major jobs aren't done at maintenance day. valve adjustments are viewed that way. I could bring my kit, but I recommend against it. think 1 hour jobs and a lot of socializing. PM me if you want me to bring a kit.

need to go thru Columbus,OH. Dragonrider is leaving his GF there for the weekend. US 23 is tempting. I've never ridden it north of Asheville. It passes 30 miles east of where I live in Georgia and goes to Columbus,OH. 650mile trip. probably not the fastest route.

Thanks for the insights. Has anyone ridden US23 from Georgia to Ohio? hows it?

I've been using the STC 7317 filters. As this thread had warned me, there were no more STC filters. OK.so I grabbed a Fram xg7317.... wrong thing to do. The Fram xg7317 was enough longer that I couldn't get it started. Went back and got a 6017A. I didn't figure it would be worth trying to convince the return items clerk that the filter with scratches on it and dripping oil was really unused and could be returned...

Probably Thurs AM from north GA. Will be riding up with Dragonslayer. We're going to talk about it this afternoon.

Headed for Don's MD later this week. Normal route would be up I-75 between Knoxville and Lexington. However, I-75 is down to 1 lane both N&S just south of the KY line in TN (Jellico) because of a rock slide. TN DOt web site says it maybe Sept before its completely cleared. Must be massive. So, am looking for an altenate route. What are US 27 and 127 north out of Chattanooga like? Could take 127 all the way to I-71 south of Cinnci. Another route would be to go east and take US 23 thru Asheville NC all the way to Columbus,OH.

I came up on the waiting list today and was able to order one of the Raspberry Pi single board computers. Paid for it via Paypal. Says up to 3 week delivery time. Raspberry Pi is a single board computer the size of a cigarette pack. Runs linux. total cost for the computer was $43 inc postage. requires a usb keyboard & mouse & video (one of several options). And a way to download their version of linux to a 4gb SD memory card. Or you can buy a pre-loaded memory card for another $18. The computer was designed by some university types in the UK for use by school kids learning to program. But at the price, a lot of people who want to try linux and programming are going to buy one. http://www.raspberrypi.org/

Life in the 21st century. If you have enough neighbors who will say they want DSL, you may be able to get the telco to upgrade their line. It won't happen overnight though. Another route is to petition the State Utilities Commissioner. Now where did I put my 300baud acoustic coupler?

Looks good Jack.

Valve Shims
RandyR replied to icebrrg3rd's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Jeff, I can give you a handful of 25mm dia shims that are over 3.0mm thick to use in your grinder when you get it set up. I got a set of shims from a Toyota 6cyl engine and about half of them are thicker thanI've ever seen in a motorcycle engine. I thought I had a list of all my shims somewhere on the computer. I can't find it right now. Randy -

Valve shim kit
RandyR replied to Billkroeger's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The 2nd gen gasket part is 4NK-11193-00 you need two. 2nd gen means 1996 and later. however the valve cover fitment is the same for 1st gen and 2nd gen, and the newer gaskets have a heavier lip. -
mm-mm moose burgers.... Lets see. adult moose = 800 lbs. thats 400lbs of moose burger meat. Current price for lean beef hamburger at the market is $3.00+ a lb. value of moose meat = $1200. well, that doesn't quite pay for a new car.

it came up this time....
