  11. Same here. There are a few places in the National Forest that I ridemy trail bike that doesn't have cell phone reception. I read (was it Rocket)'s write up on the Spot device which allows one to be tracked by satellite and can send a distress message via satellite. I think he bought it after being stranded after an accident once. A think another one of the riders here from OK doing an Iron Butt attempt carried one recently.

  14. A rider from Rome Georgia ran off Ga 19 north of Dahlonega Saturday and was killed. Copied from local news. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Missing motorcyclist found dead The Dahlonega Nugget The body of a missing Floyd County motorcyclist was found by local deputies Monday morning, approximately two days after he disappeared from a winding mountain roadway. Woodrow Clemmons Jr., 61, was just north of Stonepile Gap on Highway 19 when he apparently lost control of his bike and left the roadway. “It was a very steep part of the road where it dropped off,” said Investigator Wesley Burnett of the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to the accident, the Rome resident had been riding with a fellow biker who was in the area but reportedly didn’t witness the accident. “They got separated from one another,” said Burnett. “[Clemmons] hadn’t returned on Saturday and on Sunday morning they had been calling different locations checking on him.” A bulletin was soon issued to regional law enforcement officers advising them to be on the lookout for Clemmons and his Harley Davidson Working with the phone company, LCSO investigators were able to locate the victim’s cell phone which put them within a mile the accident site. “We went ahead and got a ping on the phone and we were able to locate him,” said Burnett. Officials said that it appeared as though Clemmons died in the actual accident.
  15. Rats Ass is a term we've inherited from the Napoleonic Wars. After Napoleon's army captured Moscow, which the Russians had abandoned and burned to the ground, there was no food left to eat. The Grand Army was reduced to killing what rodents they could find for dinner. Before beginning the grim march back to the west, Napoleon told his adjutant that he wanted to honor his soldiers for their efforts. His Adjutant returned shortly with several large baskets of small round donut-like furry objects which he had been given by the army's chefs who had removed them before cooking the last dinner. Napoleon struck his Adjutant with his riding crop and exclaimed.... I don't give a rats ass. Now you know the story. http://ts3.mm.bing.net/images/thumbnail.aspx?q=5044431176860326&id=cae218ea38c771fcecdd9aeaf8b4a6e5
  16. Don, thanks A couple comments The first video is blank - nada. The second one is good, except, at the end the tool is reversed back over an empty shim bucket after removing a shim. I would never do that until after replacing the shim. The video might give a newbie the impression that the tool is to be removed, which should never happen until both buckets have shims (old or new) in them. The 3rd and 4th are redundent. I'd delete the 4th. The video should be helpful to someone new to the procedure.
  17. I ran into a paypal issue a couple months ago. I bought something from a legitimate web site, however that site's web page had been hacked and their paypal payment web script replaced with one that redirected my payment to someone else. Since I didn't know the registered email of the good web site, it wasn't immediately apparent to me. I spoke to the 'seller' a couple days later and he admitted to having had some web page problems that his programmer had to fix. I reported it to paypal as 'merchandise not received'. They replied that they were cancelling the 'bogus' email user account. About 2 weeks later I got a refund.
  18. Really need rocket launchers for these situations.... Glad ya saw her coming. I almost got it walking my dog on Wednesday. I step off the curb at a corner. car coming from right that has stop sign; driver talking to passenger and not looking. Its a 1 way street I'm walking on so no cars coming. He stopped, but never looked up or to the left. I pulled my dog back and stepped back on curb. He did a left turn and saw me about 1/2 way thru his turn. funny look on his face. I just looked back at him.
