  2. trivia. The Japanese ball bearing company KOYO makes ball bearings here in Dahlonega, GA. (also in Japan,of course). They bought the plant from Timken. I got to take a tour of the plant this year with a Chamber of Commerce group.
  3. I think I'll order one to mount in my trunk to run a generator so's I can get more lights.
  4. The story is wierd, yes. But thats not why I posted it. Why I posted it is the use of the term "armed with a vehicle" by a spokesman for a federal LE agency. So. Am I armed with a vehicle whenever I ride my Venture? whats the weight limit for a vehicle that is deadly? is my 200lb trail bike classified the same as a bb gun? enquiring minds want to know. If a vehicle is a weapon, does that mean felons will no longer be allowed to drive?
  5. Federal law enforcement spokesman used the term "The suspect was armed with a vehicle" to justify a shooting and killing of a woman in California. The use of the term "armed" is what caught my eye. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/09/30/14161155-family-demands-answers-in-fatal-shooting-of-woman-in-car-by-border-patrol-agent?lite=obinsite
  6. The wheels are computer mouse track ball's in reverse (ie, motors instead of sensors). I think I've seen this done before (not as a motorcycle though).
  7. prayers sent heal fast larry
  8. Just got to keep the visitors from outer space away from the house. Sound like a good location.

  12. I think Dragonrider/Lewis has his up forsale if anyone wants one. Now that he's gone to a trike.
  13. points would likely be corroded after 30 years.
  14. Thats one of my choices for a dealer north of Atlanta. Glad to hear they did you a good job at a reasonable price.
  15. custom fees are the buyer's responsibility, not the sellers. You shouldn't have to explicitly state that in your ebay ad. Its defacto Likewise, claiming an item is a 'gift' on the customs declaration may eventually cause you or the buyer problems. You didn't do anything wrong. the ebay rating system is flawed in many ways.
  16. Good ride. I haven't ridden accross the parkway to Topoftheworld & Gatlinburg. I need to do that, and just skip The Dragon part.
  17. Nice cutaway image of the MKI 1st gen. http://1200venturev4.unblog.fr/files/2010/09/vent.jpg
  18. Or just put the 1200cc V-max cams and springs and a Dynatek ignition in the existing ride? Then add a V-max rear if its more low end you want. Actually, I'm happy with the current set-upof the RSTD.
  19. good luck. I hate moving and lawyers. so I know you'll be glad when its all over.
  20. greetings Michel, Nice job on the leading links front forks! Was the exhaust modified with a catalytic converter to meet emissions requirements necessary to obtain a license?
  21. prayers sent.
  22. knocking is the word used to describe improper ignition of the fuel. Bad fuel can cause this to happen. There are no 'old style' points to adjust ignition timing on this motorcycle. I presume you have a Yamaha ignition system and not a 3rd party ignition which may allow computer tuning? Is this what you mean by knocking? The steering head bearings adjustment is documented in several places in this forum. It needs to be done regularly. Riding on rough/bad roads often will cause this. There is a quick way to tighten the steering bearings by tightening them with a screwdriver and hammer; and then the correct way by tightening the nut with a special tool.
  23. Need to get that scooter on the road Lewis.
  24. anything else you might need to know?
  25. That didn't take long ... looks good!
