  2. The Hub near Harrison AR was a great central location to ride from 3 years ago at the International held there.

  4. http://randyrick.us/img/ChristmasMusic.jpg Merry Christmas !!!!
  5. The congress learned that from my ex-wife. " Honey, I bought this $200 dress and saved us $100 by not buying the $300 dress I really wanted" !!!!
  6. I bought a new 2008 RSTD as NOS in 2009. After a year I bought a RSV (2000 MM). While they are 95% the same bike, the rides are slightly different because of the seat and handlebars, and of course, slightly increased weight of the RSV. But the difference is a small one. Seats and handlebars are easily and often customized options. Both my bikes are stock setup with the exception of a Rick Butler seat on my RSV and a narrower 130 width Avon on my RSTD. I am just able to get my feet down on either of them, the RSTD being slightly easier to handle. The wind protection and seating/handlebar position on the RSV suits me best. Not a lot better, but somewhat. The RSTD gives me more peace of mind knowing that its going to be easier to work on some common front end repair items if ever needed. But I would take either of them for a cross country trip. I might upgrade the seat on the RSTD if it was my only MC. btw, I mostly ride solo.
  7. That's ok. Here in Georgia we're hunkered down with our red woolies on right now. Here's a funny. Wednesday it was heavy rain, and I left an umbrella open on the front porch to dry off when I came home late. Then high winds all night. Umbrella was gone like Mary Poppins on Thursday. This morning, Friday, more high winds. I see something large & black go by my office window out the corner of my eye and think... did I leave one of the dogs out? I stick my head out the door, and there's my umbrella back again. I wonder where it was for a day?
  8. When the electricity went out last night I thought.. wow, here it comes... But a little later a power company truck came down the road and the lights came back on. Gee, those guys really are miracle workers....
  9. I can't believe there are CAPS on these beer bottles. ????
  10. If you have direct deposit or direct debit with any company; electric, gas, water, telephone, etc. They have performed an account verification just like paypal. And there are plenty of stories of utilities over-debiting accounts by mistake. The biggest gotcha with paypal is that paypal may debit your account when there is a dispute with another party, valid dispute or not. And it takes a lot of time and effort to get it resolved. There are instances of scammers buying something, then making a paypal claim and the sellers account being debited. That said, I've used paypal since the beginning, probably 3-400 transactions and never had a problem with my bank account. But I'm mostly a buyer. The original paypal used a credit card for verification, the bank account verification & link came later.
  11. I'm also a proponent of the finned oil-filled radiator electric heaters. After 6-7 years of constant repairs to my central unit I bought a couple of these radiators and couldn't be happier. One in the living/dining area, one in my bedroom, and one for downstairs (used sparingly). I close off the small bedroom and den upstairs when not in use. Been using them for over 10 years. If it gets real cold I fire up a small fan driven heat cube to add to the mix. I also keep a small kerosene heater ready should I lose power, which usually happens when I need heat the most. I have buried power cables, so usually my electric is never off more than a few hours. Rarely a full day. But modern furnaces require electric to run. Makes me wonder about the old-style steam heat radiator systems. I don't think they required electric. I often wonder how efficient they were?
  12. Whew!!! you're a lucky guy. your guardian angel was looking out for you. how was the rum?

  15. welcome back
  16. I switched to a Tracfone from T-mobile because of poor coverage in N.Georgia and other places I have travelled. But the Tracfone is getting as bad as the T-mobile was, and I'm even getting the 'emergency use only' message here at my house from time to time, and I live within walking distance of an 8,000 student college. I use my cellphone very sparingly, but I want it to be available. So I'm looking to replace Tracfone with another pay-as-you-go service in about 4months.
  17. And Merry Christmas to you and yours, as well as the VR.org family.
  18. pray for the USA.

  22. Walmart just started carrying a substitute. I don't think they carried Twinkies. http://randyrick.us/img/CloudCakes.JPG
  23. With my car that is. Coming home about 6:30pm. Fairly heavy traffic for a Saturday on GA 400 northbound just after dark. 4 lanes divided, limited access. Doing 75 in a 65 mph zone, I'm in the left lane. motorcycle comes up behind me. I'm just following the car in front and not a lot of open space anywhere. Slowly pass the car in the right lane and there's a small hole, so I flip on my blinker when I see the car in my right hand mirror and slowly start to pull into the right hand lane. Good thing I didn't switch lanes faster, cause mr ina hurry must have goosed it as soon as he saw an inch between me and the car in the right lane. I quickly stopped my lane change as I straddled the line divider. If I'd pulled over quick or not checked my mirrors again, I'd have gotten him.
  24. You mean the local zoning ordinance requiring chimineys to be at least 60inches in diameter so Santa can get down them is a farce????
  25. This will be like the New-Coke/Old-Coke brewha. Once Twinkies are available again people will be snapping them up. (Does anyone care about Wonder Bread?).
