  1. rest in peace my friend. Gloria & Heather, if there's anything those of us nearby can do for you, please let me know. Randy Dahlonega The funeral home link posted by GAWildcat states that there will be no public funeral/service.
  2. another prayer coming from this direction.
  3. If you haven't been on Richard-Russell parkway, south of 180 before Brasstown Bald towards Helen, GA, you're missing a fun road. The Old Sautee Store just s of Helen on GA 17 has great sandwiches. Lots of places to eat here in Dahlonega. The Smith House is just off the square and serves a family-style, all you can eat. Great food. Take a tour of one of the Georgia gold mines or the Gold Museum while in Dahlonega. Just down the street from where a US mint was from 1838-1861.
  4. I was shooting a highpower rifle match at Oak Ridge, TN with 20 shooters on the line firing when a doe with 2 fawns came right up to the back of the firing line.
  5. The steamroller that got you is still out cruising the highways.....
  6. I suggest investing the $20 in a Clymer's manual for your bike. On ebay or Amazon search for Yamaha Royal Star 1300 CLYMER
  7. Good stuff. That bike is now an offcial 'work of art'.
  8. The petcock position doesn't matter when you fill it up.
  9. Thats looking real good.
  10. There is no seperate reserve tank on the RSV or RSTD. That said there are two 'wings' to the gas tank, both of which fill when the tank is filled. The right wing does not have a tube at its lowest point connecting it to either the petcock or left wing of the tank as some bikes do. These bikes depend on 'slop-over' to get that last few ounces of gasoline from the right to the left side, where the petcock is.
  11. Glad you're both got thru this with just minor problems.
  12. say? didn't HD develop a water-cooled V4 in the late 1970's?
  13. Looks like a good place to retire to. Do some fishing, and maybe have a small sailboat. The weather appears to be quite mild.
  14. I don't think this part of a question was answered. Most people that replace their stock antenna use a Firestick (brand) cb antenna.
  15. A quick search for nearby motels shows rooms available in the town of Albertville which is 10 miles away in the $45 a night range for a Queen bed room. btw, I wouldn't hunt hogs with anything smaller than a .30cal rifle. Big heavy bullets are best.
  16. sort of like one of the messerschmidt mini-cars of the 1950's
  17. There is some bad infomation being posted here that people would be wise to disregard as it could get someone in serious legal trouble.
  18. The shippers may or may not always honor what the law states. Some just don't want to ship for non-FFL's even in those situations where its legal. The mom & pop shippers aren't experts on the law, so its easy for them to say, no. Going thru a dealer is the safe way. The dealers (both of them) will however have to log the gun in and out of their books. btw, the law does say that the receiver's ffl must be in the box. An ffl isn't required to ship a gun, only to receive one. (Gunsmiths only can ship back to the origonal shipper). Your son in Michigan, shipping to you in another state might be ok if there is a bill of sale in your name with the gun. I'd have to get a ruling from BATF in writing on that though, as some of their agents interpret the law in ways that might not hold up in court. But its not worth $50 to find out. You did the easy thing.
  19. my miles per gallon go down noticeably when there's a headwind. Riding at 60mph with your rig, I'd keep it in 4th gear most of the time, even with the vmax rear gears. Your rig is the trike, right? so is it an outrigger style trike that keeps the Yamaha rear end?
  20. Is the event just Blizzards, or does it include 'normal' DQ stuff like hot fudge sundaes?
  21. Having the IR anywhere near Sturgis (say 150 mile radius) for a week or 2 either side of the big Sturgis rally would not be good from my perspective. 1. prices for everything will be way up, and 2. availabilty will be way down. And the roads will be crowded with bikes. I think Colo would be a good choice for a central location.
  22. Dan, thank you for sharing your grief with us. Our prayers are with you.
  23. And real maple syrup on your pancakes..... !!!
  24. The Hub in Arkansas is a good semi-central spot. (If you're east of the Rockies) Annie the Mascot votes for that.
