I'm a firm believer in trickle-down economics. The government should send me lots of money and I'd trickle it out buying things for myself until its all gone, thereby helping the entire economy.

It looks like this may get a FIX applied. The following was extracted from GA Sen Isakson's weekly email newsletter. I was very concerned to learn that (military) disabled retirees and survivors were mistakenly included in the provisions slowing the growth of retirement benefits over the coming years. I believe that this mistake must be corrected and my continued support for this budget agreement was predicated on the chairman’s commitment to correct this mistake.

Known as Google's Security Princess, Ms Tabriz spoke to BBC Future about her vision of a world without passwords – where our watches and even part of our bodies might be the key to getting online. http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20131212-say-goodbye-to-online-passwords Randy sings: Oh we're off to see the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz.... So, what if my body parts aren't up to Google's standards? Will drinking Irish whiskey affect the accuracy of such devices? I have so many questions about where this will lead us all.

If the sun peeks out, I may get in some saddle time too. the forecast here is also for warmer over the weekend but increasing chance of rain. Then dipping back down below freezing at night for Christmas. A low chance of precip Christmas so I'm not expecting any of the white stuff.

Valve Adjustment Done

Just be careful that any rag doesn't get sucked in on the power down stroke when both valves are closed. -
Valve Adjustment Done

Great write up of the procedure. I'll point out that removing the carbs should be optional. You can adjust the valves without doing that. One does need to remove the spark plugs as you documented. One needs to be very careful that the top of the engine is very clean prior to removing the plugs, and that nothing falls in the plug holes. A fine screen to fit over the plug holes would be a wonderful invention if someone hasn't made something like that already. -

Valve Adjustment Done
RandyR replied to etcswjoe's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Have you torqued the heads to spec? My recollection is that there is a Yamaha alert concerning certain 07 engines that were not torqued correctly. If I further remember right, the solution was to re-torque the heads to spec. Adjusting the valves is much simpler than tearing down an engine and shouldn't be compared to that. -
good deal lets hope that the Dr accomplished what Tom needed.

I don't have experience with them, but from what I know, they are DC. each solar cell is generally 0.5volts. Put them in series to get higher dc voltage Put them in parallel to get more power. So you wouldn't want a solar cell system that produced 110 volt ac just to turn around and run a DC charger.

We can talk about it here I think. I presume you're talking about reloading ammunition? I have several reloaders: Dillon 650 RCBS Reloader Special (single stage press) Lee Breech Lock hand press bunch of old Lee Loaders trimmers, scale, powder measures, brass tumblers I've reloaded many thousands of rounds of .308 & .223 for rifle and 38spl, 9mm & .45 for pistol and varying quantities of other calibers including custom rounds. I have about 30 die sets. I've loaded rifle ammunition for competitive shooting.

Guess this means we'll be forced to give Congress a raise next year. Lets see: The politicians and big corporations want MORE every year. I get LESS every year. Eventually the graph lines will cross and I'll just hand over everything. I'm sure it will all be automated by that point in time, because I won't be able to afford a postage stamp.

I have this G5RV on order for 80-6meter. along with 75ft of LM400 coax. http://www.amateurradiosupplies.com/product-p/10098.htm I was going to make my own 40m dipole, then add dipoles for the different bands to the end of my coax feed as I felt the need, but that sounded like a potential lot of work, so went with what appears to be the best compromise all-band antenna I could find. I wasn't sure about being able to string it high enough or long enough to get the 160meter version. So I'll pass at 160m for now and maybe do that in the future. I looked at making a loop. Maybe in the future if the G5RV isn't getting enough gain or is too directional. I realize the Extra Class doesn't offer too much more bandwidth than what I already have. I just want to do it. Call it a mental exercise.

To keep this thread semi-active. I bought a Baofeng UV-5RA handheld for 2m/440mhz. I can hit the local repeaters with it from my house. I upgraded my license to General Class in October so I could get on the high frequency bands (in addition to the very limited hf permitted by Technician). I have purchased, but not yet on the air with the following gear for my base station: Yaesu FT-857D (160meters thru 70cm coverage). 100w SSB on hf LDG AT-100PRO-II antenna tuner G5RV (80-6m) wire antenna Diamond CP22E 2m vertical Bought on ebay last night a Vibroplex iambic paddle for learning CW (morse code). The Yaesu has a built-in keyer. Am waiting on cables and connectors to arrive which I finally ordered to get this all finalized and on the air. I should be on the air with the base station on 2meters before the end of this month and then high frequency with the wire antenna shortly there-after. I've done nothing about going mobile with either my motorcycle or car yet (other than vaguely think about it when looking at parts/equipment listings). I have the mobile mount for the Yaesu FT-857D. And. have started studying for the Extra Class license. KK4ONJ
