  1. Well, I really appreciated having an automatic when my right arm was broken and in a sling for a couple months. I haven't bought a stick shift since the 1980's when I had a Chevy Citation hatchback. Nothing but Ford automatics since then.

    fuel pump

One good thing here is that the 2nd Gens can just bypass the fuel pump with a hose and as long as the fuel tank is kept half full, the pump isn't required. So even if it goes out on the road, we can keep scooting.

    fuel pump

I had remembered something about using volkswagen fuel pumps from Autozone costing about $20, but that may have been for a 1st Gen. In any case, you can probably cross reference the ebay fuel pump to one from a local autoparts store. Should be able to get one in the $20 range. see this thread for a couple solutions. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?122266-3rd-Dead-Fuel-installing-Mr-Gasket-42-S&highlight=fuel+pump
  5. amen
  6. I would think that this engine should be able to get better gas mileage than 30-something mpg we've heard about. I couldn't find the figure just now.

  12. re: women long range shooters During WWII one of the most feared (and celebrated) units of the war included a Russian woman sniper. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyudmila_Pavlichenko credited with 309 kills. The web page is interesting reading. She was the first Russian of the war to tour Canada and the USA and meet President Roosevelt. In the US there is a growing number of women shooters who have been challenging for the top spot in matches. I was at Camp Perry when a female Marine shooter took top honors (not just top woman) for Service Rifle and another year when Nancy Gallagher and her 2 daughters dominated the 1,000 yard events. http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/tag/michelle-gallagher/ And more recently in the news have been stories of women snipers fighting with the Kurdish militia. http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-middle-east-40430552/female-kurdish-sniper-cheats-death-at-hands-of-is
  13. very nice.
  14. don't forget curvature of the earth.
  15. We would have probably used an 81mm mortar and cleared the field. Not as sporting though.

  17. Heal fast Mike.
  18. Yes, I saw that. Very impressive. I'd like to see a video of what the conditions looked like from the spotting scope and rifle, prior to and during the shot. Or at least hear a description of the conditions and decisions made. I wonder if a plotting computer was used, or if it was all man-made decisions that went into the shot.
  19. Just a few more miles and you can be in Baja
  20. keep on putt-putting
  21. Good looking scooter. Apparently a discontinued model. There are a few New-Old-Stock ones for sale locally at good prices. Probably because the newer models have abs but at almost double the cost.
  22. I would hesitate to say the motorcyclist 'caused' the accident. The accident was caused by the car driver trying to whip his car into the motorcycle at high speed (which is attempted murder) and oversteering into the median guard and then rebounding into the pickup.

Its a tough job, but someone has to do it.
  25. I like the idea of a sidecar, but haven't ridden one enough to know if one would be good for me or not. I hear that a sidecar rig takes a lot of arm strength to steer, is that true? My right shoulder gives me trouble after an accident a number of years ago. Which is why I like the RSV/RSTD and cruise control so much for anything other than short rides.
