I'm on my way. It should be ready when I get there!!!

The either Vstrom is a good choice, and for a few more $$ the Yama Super Tenere is very nice. For solo only the 650 singles, Kawa KLR or Suzuki DLR 650 are fine. There are a lot of accessories out there for the 650 singles. The Triumph adventure bikes are very good, but finding a used one would be more difficult. http://www.triumphmotorcycles.com/bikes/adventure-and-touring.

The end pointed at The Dairy Queen, of course !!

The Zero electric MC was one I looked at a few years ago. There's a dealer for them here in Atlanta. It appeared well built and enough like a light weight real MC to be of interest. I think we had a brief forum thread about them once upon a time. It looks like the Zero being ridden in the Ironbutt had some extra streamlining applied. I didn't know Vetter was still around. http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/

It looks like Yamaha is displaying an electric motorcycle prototype at the Tokyo motor show. I seem to recall several discussions about electric MC's a couple years ago, I know there are a couple models available, although I've never seen them on the streets where I live. http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2017/10/13/yamaha-reveals-wild-electric-motorcycle-concept.html

New pot stirring experiences, or, to infinity and beyond, or,,,

I agree that the new Goldwing looks good and IF I were going to spring for another big touring bike might be high on my list of candidates. I will take a close look-see when they hit the local dealers. -
That animated gif was just a series of pictures of the all the previous Goldwing models, not the new one which is due in 2 weeks. Here's a link to a web page the email they sent me has the pictures you can slowly scroll thru to see the past models. https://powersports.honda.com/beyond.aspx?cid=AT8545&spMailingID=17146280&spUserID=MTg2NjQxOTI1Njc0S0&spJobID=1083396397&spReportId=MTA4MzM5NjM5NwS2#hero-history There's a video there that I think has a couple quick shots of the new 2018 with other stuff mixed in, but am not sure. But we see the new 2018 Goldwing picture in the 1st post to this thread.

Did he say $75 a round? As in, it cost $75 every time ya pull the trigger?

This was true for many years. But over time the M16/AR15 has become capable of shooting and winning at 1,000 yards. The military teams and some civilians are now shooting the M16 at the National Matches at the 1,000 yard service rifle events. I always used M14/M1A in .308, as that is what I used for a number of years, and didn't have a fulltime gunsmith to tune my AR15 and to replace worn parts. Better powders, bullets, chambers, and barrels make it possible. Those aren't field issue. But the leg is getting better and more specialized equipment these days. I haven't been on active duty for a while, but from what I can tell, the NATO marksmen are using what I would call large caliber magnums for the most part. ISIS snipers seem to have a mix of older 7.62x54R M91 Mosin-Nagants and WWII era Kalashnikov Heavy barreled scoped sniper rifles which are both very accurate long range rifles. -
Using a good ointment to help with soreness and reducing scarification is good. But if you're implying using an ointment instead of the Tens machine, I suggest you use both. The Tens machine will help deep down in the tissue and bone. The Tens is a home version of a physical therapist's instrument. But, there is also a very similar orthopedic instrument which helps bones heal. The tens is similar enough in its operation and the frequencies of the stimulation that I believe it also helps bone heal. You'll never see it advertised as such because of FDA restrictions, and its certainly not the equivalent of a $10,000 orthopedic bone stimulator. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2762251/ My arm required 3 surgeries and the bone was not healing after almost a year. Dr was taking monthly xrays. So I did some homework. Read and make your own decision. my arm finally began showing signs of healing after twice daily use of a tens machine for a couple more months. Maybe it was just coincidence. But the tens definitely helped with deep pain that ointments don't help with. I'm not an expert, just relaying my experience. I wish you luck with a speedy recovery.

Paint is useful in situations like this. It appears the last 4 digits of the part number are the factory color code.

I'm glad you're OK. Too bad about that low mileage 1st gen, but it sounds like your insurance treated you right. You can find a good used bike for the money if you want to ride again.

It takes a month to get the statins out of your system. And maybe longer for one's body to reverse what they've done to you. At least for me, it took a while.

Call me a wimp, I guess, but I never liked shooting the .44mag and larger handguns. They just weren't enjoyable to shoot, and as such I didn't practice much with them. I do own a Ruger Redhawk stainless in .41mag and thats more controllable. That Blackhawk convertible is sweet. I'd be too tempted to shoot it, and I know it should be kept as a collector piece because of its rarity.

good luck this time.

Buy a cheap TENS machine. Thats what the physical therapist will use on your arm to relieve pain and soreness. The TENS Machine may also help the bone to heal. https://www.tensunits.com/ or http://www.ebay.com/bhp/tens-machine

I recommend having the hardware taken out once the bones heal, if possible. I still have the hardware in my rt arm after 10 years, and its starting to give me trouble. I was talking to my General Practitioner during my last physical about maybe going back to an orthopedic and having it removed.

Eat more veggies and less steak and prime rib is my plan. No more statins. I have started making stir fried vegetables for dinner most days. The grocery stores have a dozen or more flavored sauces and the Veggies used can be varied. Add some rice or noodles or other filler to it. Add some varied leafy veg like cabbage, spinach, boc choy, etc. Lots of variety, and tastes good too. imo. You have to give up the hot dogs, though.

Some smart engineer needs to make a snowmobile or ice boat conversion for those.

The Bridge Collapse was INSIDE the beltway on I85 near where I75 and I85 and GA400 come togther just north of DOWNTOWN. It is repaired already. That would never be a good route to travel for a thru traveler anyway. You want to take the I-285 Beltway around the city on the west side and avoid downtown. I say that not travelling downtown much myself. But always avoid downtown traffic if I can. Maybe if you come down I75 between 1am and 3am the traffic would be light thru downtown. Otherwise, take the beltway.

Same thing here. I quit taking the statins and feel much better. I have had to use a bit of diet / impulse-food control to keep my cholesterol down around 200. Mine was way higher. So diet and a little exercise daily works. In moderation, of course !! I'd forgotten about the weakened tendons symptom.

Reloading is a good activity to get into if you're going to shoot much. I bought a single stage RCBS press back in the 80's that is still in use. There's certain amount of satisfaction that comes from making your own ammo too.
