I love it. But I've learned to not go the CAPE to watch a liftoff. Everytime I do, there's a delay.

if you go to the rotella.com web page you find 2 kinds of synthetic Rotella-T. both in blue jugs. One of them is touted as NEW Shell Rotella® T Synthetic with API CJ -4 Technology. So I would be wary of this oil on the clutch plates. The different Rotella grades of oil listed are: Multigrade 10W-30 and 15W-40 » Synthetic 5W-40 API CJ -4 Technology » Synthetic 5W-40 » Synthetic-Blend » Single Grade Oils Walmart accepts unconditional returns or trades....

Venture or Tour Deluxe?
RandyR replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Just bought a new RSTD. I had a previous BMW with detachable top box, which I took off the day I got it, and never used it. It also had radio and tape player which I never used. I do miss the BMW's electrically adjustable windshield, but thats about it. Otherwise am very happy with the RSTD. -

2nd Gen Rear brake life
RandyR replied to SpaceMan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have read that sintered metal pads, which the EKC HH are I believe, cause shortened rotor life. How often have riders had to replace rotors? any experience? Here's one manufacturer's FAQ sheet on brakes. http://www.braketech.com/faq.php -
so what did you replace the H-D tire with? There seems to be a large number of stories on this forum of people getting bad mileage or cracks in expensive MC tires of the recommended size, and a equal number of stories of good performance out of non-standard and even car tires.

on my new RSTD (1 up, w factory windshield) riding north on hwy 441 along the west side of the Okefenokee swamp. ie: flat, straight highway with few stops at an average speed of 65 mph (using cruise control), I got 44 mpg. So I'm guessing that is best case for my bike with the windshield on.

The museum there has 1100 motorcycles on 5 floors. I couldn't believe the web pictures of the place. I'll have to get over there. Maybe do it the same weekend as a Birmingham gun show... Its 2 hours of highway driving from Atlanta, but might make a good M&E destination. http://www.barbermuseum.org/index.html

Thats the first Royal Star I've seen with Earles-type front suspension. It looks like it has pushed the front wheel forward without changing the rake angle. Was that done to make the side car more manageable? btw. I like your paint scheme.

ouch. Hopefully no serious internal injuries for the rider that show up later.

Car engine oil for the RSV ?
RandyR replied to FL-Venture-Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It would be interesting to have a couple of our members who have lots of miles on their engines (120,000+miles) without a rebuild, state what oil and filter and maintenance schedule they use. They may have already contributed to one of these threads, but I haven't seen the correlation between longevity and maintenance style. (maybe I missed it somewhere in an older thread). And as a newer member I don't know that rider X does 50,000 miles a year vs rider Y does 500 miles a year. -
I already have a Carb Tune on order, so hopefully it works correctly for me.

http://www.saber-cycle.com/store/Tools1.html has both a mercury nanometer ($55) and a 4-vacuum gauge set ($79 sale price).

Let me know how you like the Baron Bullet Tach, and how it installs. I'd like to add a tach to my RSTD. -

It is relatively easy to set up a non-profit corporation called a 501c. I think it costs $15 a year in Georgia, at least thats what it cost 10 years ago.

there is someone here in the forum that makes them in several colors and offers them for sale.

Where to buy brake pads??
RandyR replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I see a third option is kevlar pads, which per their specs give better stopping power when wet than the organic, but not as prone to wear the rotors. I haven't tried kevlars, but am thinking this may be what I go with when needed.
