I wonder about this claim: Offers as much as 50x longer life (10,000 hrs vs 400 hrs) 400hrs seems like too short a lifetime for an incandescent headlight.

I installed a Baron's handlebar mount tach at maintenance day. Its ok, but at a slightly wierd angle. I was concerned about the long term effect of having the extra weight of the tach on top of the brake reservoir, ie possible stress on the reservoir eventually leading to a cracked unit. There are other handlebar mounts that have an extra degree of adjustment and I wish I had considered them. Oh, and thanks to v7Goose at MD for installing this for me. http://randyrick.us/motorcycles/Yamaha/2009_0609BaronsTach0003small.JPG

I've ridden 160 numerous times (I'm from MO origonally). A few parts of it are quite twisty. Its a scenic ride thru the ozarks and worth doing.

MD.......Flat Tire, then Electrical fire..........
RandyR replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
Looks like I missed out on some (ahem) fun.... by not riding with you. Maybe could have gotten Eddie back on the road faster with the tire patch kit and pump I was carrying? That was one BIG bolt to be stuck in a tire. So, did you go in to work on Monday? -
Don thanks to you and the family for your gratious hospitality. It was a great time. Order some more of the same weather for next year.

It was great meeting everyone. lets do it again !!

I'll piggy back on this thread too. It was great meeting everyone at MD. Goose, thanks again for working on and training me on how to work on my new bike. I rode over to Ft. Wayne Indiana on backroads Sunday to visit with my brother and get a hot shower. Then rode home to Georgia Monday getting here at 9pm just as the sun was going down. Got caught in the mother of all 10 minute deluges crossing into TN from KY on I75. But the sun was shining in Georgia and I was dried out by the time I got here. My bike clicked the 3 and 4,000 mile mark over the extended weekend. great food and yummy cheesecake !!!!

Just getting online after returning from MD. Glad youy and the Mrs. are Ok. Thats whats important. There were a lot of dead deer along the road to and from MD this past weekend.

Put fresh oil & filter and gear oil in the bike today, so as to be able to spend more time socializing when I get to Dr. Don's (The MD doesn't stand for Maryland, I don't think).

Hey, way to go. You lucky dog.

Coleman camp fuel is naptha which I believe is the same thing as 'white gas' and lighter fluid. Also used to be used for dry cleaning fluid. Walmart sells a generic can of camp fuel. So, is that what Sea Foam is?

Glad to hear he received prompt attention and will be ok.

Fuel Valve Position
RandyR replied to StarQ's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I feel that its better to turn the petcock to OFF when the bike is going to be parked for more than a few minutes. Carburetor fuel floats aren't perfect shutoffs and some leakage will likely occur which will lead to a small amount of fuel evaporation and gum buildup in the carb. I've gotten in the habit of closing the petcock before turning off the motor if its going to be parked for a while. -

Compression is not going to tell the whole story. If the clearance is too great then you will have good compression (probably). But the timing of the opening and closing of the valves will be out of design spec. For instance: the valves won't be opening soon enough, and won't stay open long enough for the proper fuel/air intake, nor for complete exhausting of the burned gases.

Royal Star Venture questions......
RandyR replied to tibadoe's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I think that web site is just a search engine trap with no real inside knowledge of anything. The Yamaha and Star web sites have nothing on the 2010 lineup yet, and I haven't seen anything yet elsewhere that looks factual. The internet has gotten to the point where half the web sites aren't real content providers anymore. Those sites have lots of buzz words and links to other web sites and make money (at a penny a click) to web sites that actually sell something. Think of them as the doorman you have to tip in order to get in to the restaurant where you have to leave a tip with the Maitre de to get a table, to eventually get some food. -
Ah....work. I think I remember that. nice ride.

Looks like the model you're looking at uses small bottles of propane. Its likely that it could also hook up to a 20lb propane tank. The traditional style Coleman stove uses white gas / naptha for fuel. I've had one of those for 30 years, and my parents and grandparents also had them. As well as a Coleman lantern that burns white gas. On the traditional Coleman stoves, one would grill in a frying pan or on a camp griddle, but not on the open flame.

thx Sounds like another easy maintenance day project to put some punch holes in my filler neck.
