  1. http://www.ignitech.cz/english/aindex.htm makes a generic (general purpose) unit that is user programmable and is used on a list of about 100 different models of motorcycles. The company fits their ignition units with various types of connectors as required by the motorcycle it is to be used with. The company will provide default spark timing based on the characteristics of the engine. Or you can program it with a home computer or laptop to fine tune your engine to your requirements. The units cost about 120Euros or $200 US dollars. They are made in Czech Republic.
  2. How do you grease the shaft on that model?
  3. A poll might be interesting. We have an audience of almost exclusively Venture owners mixed in with a few of us RSTDers and fewer others. The poll might ask: If Yamaha were to introduce in the Fall of 2009 a new Venture in model year 2010 for $20,000US that included the Venture amenities from the current model, with updated electronics and sound, fixed all major known weak points (brakes, etc), and was powered by a version of the FI Vmax engine, would you definitely buy a new one: a) As soon as announced? b) sometime during model year 2010? c) sometime during model year 2011? d) sometime after model year 2011? e) no, just put FI on the current design to meet 2010 emission requirements f) I'm happy with my current ride and won't be buying a new anything
  4. If its in prototype at this time, then I don't think it will be ready for production by the 2010 model year.
  5. If you're leaving MN on the 1st and have to be in St. Louis on the 3rd, that doesn't leave a lot of time for going farther south into the Ozarks and then back north to St. Louis. I'd consider a leisurely ride accross middle Iowa and drop south into Missouri on US 63. If you make it as far as Rolla, MO you'll find restaurants and plenty of motels. I'd then ride down MO 72 to Salem and take MO 32 to US 21 to St Louis. The ride along MO 32 will give you a taste for the Ozarks but you'll be able to stay on schedule. If you have time a spot to linger on the ride to St. Louis near where MO 32 and US 21 come together is Taum Sauk Mountain.
  6. You're lucky to be telling this story. Glad there was a little room for you to squeeze thru.
  7. As a retiree, I'll be sure to ride around the nearest office park tooting my yamahorn.
  8. 2nd Gen. Take a look at the Venture History tab. Welcome to the forum.
  9. Is the actual outside circumference larger than the normal MT ? if so, then the bike IS going faster per same readout on the speedo.
  10. Bees are an important part of the ecosystem and even commercial agriculture. They seem to have increasing problems surviving the use of pesticides and interbreeding with non-native strains.
  11. If you click on search and enter the words "fuel filter", search brings up a previous thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=36419&highlight=fuel+filter
  12. There is 1 page on the fuel filter in the Service Manual, which I downloaded using instructions on this forum.

  16. Based on what's been posted, I take it that the LED Dynamic Clusters optional Load Equalizer isn't needed on our 2nd gen machines?

  18. Goose, There is a possible reason for the failure of the fuel level tube not to be working as expected. I suspect that when you attached the tube to the drain, and fuel started to drain, it stopped when a partial vacuum was created in the float bowl. Air has to be able to enter the float bowl freely for the tube level to be accurate.
  19. Kenny, Good to hear from you again. Our prayers are with you. Hopefully you'll be home soon.
  20. My favorite spot is along the Buffalo River. Beautiful country.
