  1. Yea Peggy....
  2. re: Mariner fan Buy a BIG bag of leather chew bones, and distribute them everywhere. I had good success teaching my pups that the chew bones were ok for chewing and eveything else was off limits. (It mostly worked).
  3. If you get into the median at high speed, chances are you're going to be toast, anyway you slice it...
  4. This is a good thread to bring back to the top for those members on another active thread who are claiming valve adjustment never needs doing. And thanks for the valve adjustment spreadsheet Swifty.... Question. Were you able to reuse the valve cover gaskets, or did you really need new ones? Use of gasket cement / Permatex ?
  5. Good to hear you made it back ok.
  6. Y'all move around fast. Glad you made it home ok. I guess we're waiting to hear where the moving truck is going to take you...
  7. Oh Oh ! The same guy designed this ?????? http://www.confederate.com/confederate3/wp/quail/9-01.jpg http://confederate.wordpress.com/2009/08/19/photos-from-cm-the-quail-lodge-a-motorsports-gathering/
  8. Lets see. I think have a -few- cans of the tasty Ham and Lima beans c-rations saved away somewhere... Where did I put them?
  9. Checking the clearance to determine if they are all fine isn't very complicated. Doesn't take the special tool or any shims. Just a set of wrenchs and a set of feeler gauges. Probably could be done in an hour. See the writeup that V7goose did a few weeks ago. However, if they aren't within tolerance and you've checked them wo the tool and shims on hand, then you either need to leave it apart while you order them, or put it back together, order, wait, and then do it again. The second time will likely go faster The possible consequences of the valves -maybe- being out of spec aren't pretty. I had it happen once to a Honda MC, it was a lot of time, work, & expense to get it right at that point. It was educational, however. Hopefully I never have to use the shim tool I bought, and my heirs can play tiddly winks with the valve shims one day.
  10. Motus have been working on their V4-powered sport-tourer since March 2008. ‘Our V4 engine and proprietary chassis designs are currently underway with highly respected automotive engineering partners. The design calls for a comfortable, lightweight machine that blends American muscle performance with proven range-extending technology. The focal point for the Motus bike will be our engine. We believe the engine will be completely unexpected and completely different than anything currently available,’ says Brian.
  11. I have a kit of shims and the tool. Just got the shims yesterday. I haven't adjusted the valves on my bike yet (at 8,000 miles), but used to do this on some older machines. I'll clean off a spot on my carport if you want to work here.
  12. I had similar front brake noises that started on my trip to the International rally in Arkansas. It seems to have cleared itself up. I asked a couple others about it, and they suggested I picked up a grain of sand or spot of tar/grease on the pad that might wear itself off soon. It did. But I first closely examined my pads to make sure they were still thick enough.

  14. It sounds like there isn't going to be a magic pill.... Hang in there. We're with you on this.
  15. No, but he was holding a martini glass...
  16. Thanks for the warning. I'll keep a close eye on the limbs. I also have a Bear compound bow, but think my rt arm would qualify for a waver even if Georgia didn't allow everyone to use them (as of a couple years ago).
  17. Jeff, I understand the Marines have some motorcycles in Afganistan for recon work. Seen one of these? http://www.dieselmotorcycles.com/images/L_JP8_military.jpg
  18. Look for your coffee cup to be re-sold on ebay....
  19. I've been using Yamaha gear oil in my RSTD. That said, someone in another thread said he was putting a small dab of Honda moly60 in their rear gear oil each time he changed the oil. Sounds like a good idea, and I've started doing that too. I see Mobil-1 makes a rear gear oil. I expect its top of the line stuff.
  20. A really good natured dog. Seems to have an affinity for sticker burrs though... I think she should be named Ventura .....

  22. Hopefully the Dr has a plan that will work out.
  23. Here's the compound crossbow I ordered. A Barnett Wildcat C5. http://www.northwoodsoutlet.com/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=3912 http://www.northwoodsoutlet.com/oscommerce/catalog/images/wildcat%20large2.jpg I also bought the cocker attachment so I wouldn't have to pull back the 150lb bow string. This is the least expensive of this series of Barnetts, and also the smallest and lightest weight one. Bob. Sure. we could hunt together. I'm going to start exploring the various WMA's and federal lands nearby. problem with the WMA's is that they require checkin. But that probably is goodness in that it reduces the number of hunters vs open forest svc land. I probably wouldn't hunt Bear. I think Vogel is closed to hunting... but.. BEAR HAIR GAP TRAIL 4.1-Mile Partial Loop. Average Travel Time: 4 Hours. Foot Travel Only. Wildflowers abound in season and long-distance vistas can be seen after the leaves have fallen. The trail leaves the park and travels onto the Chattahoochee National Forest which is open to hunting. It is advisable to wear bright colored clothing or safety orange vests during hunting season. I also have a modern muzzle loader as well as an older .45cal kentucky rifle. & a couple modern centerfire hunting rifles. Its time to get them sighted in.
  24. Our prayers are with you....
  25. I've decided to start deer hunting again after a 3 year layoff during which time I lost my lease rights to private land nearby. But I'm right on the edge of several large tracts of Federal and Georgia state public lands. Some open and some which require checkin/signin (wildlife management areas). Georgia offers a free hunting/fishing license to those over 65, and for those like myself in the over-60 group a $90 lifetime license which includes eveything hunting/fishing except Federal bird stamps. So I bought the over-60 lifetime license yesterday, and ordered a Barnett crossbow via the internet to use. I think my right arm is too weak to hold a bow for any length of time since I broke the arm & shoulder 3 years ago. Bow season starts Sept 12th, muzzle loader Oct-10, and firearms on Oct 16 - Jan 1. I'm thinking I want to buy a TC Contender .22rf pistol to squirrel hunt prior to deer hunting from the Suzuki trail bike I have , so I can get some early scouting in.
