    For the RSV's, the 3 gauges in place of the cassette looks like something a number of people will do. For RSTD's however, the pod is a much better way to go than the handlebars.
  6. I expect most people can hear a normal conversation from 50 feet away. Maybe not perfectly, but hear it.

  10. Good to hear its working so far. A number of Triumph triple owners are now running their TCI's, some straight factory settings, and a couple people have played with reprogramming them successfully. The Hinckley Triumphs don't have a vaccuum advance, but one of the Ignitech buyers has added a vaccuum advance, so I know that can be done if for some reason its wanted/needed.

Does anyone have the complete text?

  19. I'm actually surprised that the noise isn't really an indication of something-somewhere wearing at an elevated rate. Noise is caused by vibration. Vibration causes wear (or vice versa), and metal fatigue, which I would think would lead to component failure. Maybe thats happening, but just takes so long, that its not something the normal owner is going to see because the engine is built so strong.
  20. I want to be able to invoke my warranty if needed. It helps to have a dealer feel some ownership and be on my side if needed. A little over mileage wise probably isn't going to hurt. But the first oil change & gear oil change is where most of the metal particles get flushed from the system. Plus, tightening all the nuts & bolts that are loose...
  21. one possibilty is the needles in the main jets (slider) are a bit worn and you're getting more fuel from one or two carbs vs the others at some openings. different size needles might cause this too, I would expect. I see where v7Goose says there are different jet sizes in the 2nd gen carbs. I will guess thats to make up for some difference in the air flow to certain carbs. So I'd guess air flow issues might cause an unexpected inbalance. Others who have worked on the 1st gens a lot are likely to have better ideas.

  24. Bill, I notice you are using 'energy conserving' oil which is contrary to Yamaha's recommendations. So how does one know whether or not the additives are starting to reduce the friction bonding of one's clutch. It may take a while. It appears that 2nd Gen engines may need new/stronger clutch springs at 50,000 miles anyway, but it takes awhile.
