I'll attach the pics 1a and 2a which show the shim location. The other pics are just ones of brake pad wear. I'll note that he says that with the .042inch shims installed that now the outer pad is wearing faster. With the help of the mechanic we placed a spacer in the back bolt to help even out the angle. As you will see the wear is only about 1/2 that of the outside pad and with very little if any angle wear. So, I would surmise from the above quote that a slightly thinner shim should be used to even out the inner & outer pad wear. Maybe a .030 shim instead should be tried?

Who makes a trunk for my '06 RSTD?
RandyR replied to BCowand's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
There was a member making a frame that bolts on a RSTD that would allow a Harley trunk to be mounted. There are several RSTD's floating around with trunks. -

Its interesting to see the different models offered in Europe vs the USA. Here's the German page. http://www.yamaha-motor.de/products/motorcycles/ btw, no Royal Stars at all...

There's a New 0 miles 2008 RSTD on ebay for $9,999 and a New 0 miles 2007 RSV for $11,899 with no bids on them. I guess that tells the story.

Hopefully the 2 tone blue is available in the USA. This should help dealers clear the NOS 2008's and 2009's.

Need help with a windshield fit.
RandyR replied to 97Hawg's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have looked at Clearview windshields for my 08 RSTD, and recall that their web site indicates that the early Tour Deluxes and the Road Star share a common windshield. Take a look here. http://clearviewshields.com/shop/product.php?id=68 -
I saw the new Stratoliner. A big air cooled thumper. The belt drive, EFI, and hydraulic valves are nice. But air cooled? Thats not a move in a positive direction for that size engine. IMHO

Motorcyclist Magazine Article - helmet study
RandyR replied to GG54172's topic in Safety and Education
Thanks Greg. Every rider should read the articles in full. Everyone who doesn't wear a helmet should read them twice. -
Glad Sean is ok.

Don't shift below 4,000 rpm unless you're on the downhill side of the slope. What kind of gasoline are you using? Actually, regular seems to work better in these engines, contrary to what one would think.

So, did Harley introduce their water cooled V4 engine finally? if not, then the 2009 Royal Stars are 30 years ahead of the Harleys already.....

they work. thanks good pics

I've been getting them ok. Also I just added venturerider.org to my saved addresses which is supposed to flag it as not spam.

removed cassette, added gauges......done
RandyR replied to jlh3rd's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Jeff, I like the colors as you've done them. It looks good painted. You don't need chrome. -
For the RSV's, the 3 gauges in place of the cassette looks like something a number of people will do. For RSTD's however, the pod is a much better way to go than the handlebars.

I expect most people can hear a normal conversation from 50 feet away. Maybe not perfectly, but hear it.
