  1. For those in the US that haven't shipped overseas, USPS Priority International is the cheapest and easiest way to do it. You can even fill out and print the customs form (2 minutes) online before dropping the package off at the Post Office.
  2. I guess someone will have to bake some birthday pies? huh???
  3. I don't think so. Ignitech isn't as anal as Ford or GM about their product. By their own admission they haven't tested their unit personally with every type MC they have adapted it to. I think they'd welcome the feedback, with and without any advance/retard mechanisms fed by external sensors that are documented. Be sure to communicate the variation of 1st generation venture everytime you talk to them, so they learn to keep them straight. They expressed interest in doing a 2nd gen TCI also, but since there is already one available in their price range, I'm not sure its worth the trouble (Outside of Europe anyway).
  4. If there is a default setting which is clearly best, that information should be sent to Ignitech so they can make that their stock setting.
  5. Good one Charlie.
  6. You can use the Clymers manual. Its for the Venture, but the Tour Deluxe is the same in most places you need a manual for

  8. Great you had the good experience. Not good that a dealer who should be trying to sell the bikes on their strong points wouldn't know about the warranty.
  9. A good day riding is the finest !!! And poker runs are fun.
  10. If I take my RSTD's windshield off, the whine isn't noticeable. I think others have said the same.
  11. I question whether or not a 60 psi gauge (built into the Harley type pump) is going to be accurate enough to measure front fork pressure which is maximum of 7psi (in the 2nd gens). I think I would want a 1-10 or 0-15psi gauge for the front forks. I've tried buying a 15psi gauge twice over the internet and gotten 'taken' for my money both times. I'll probably have a beware thread about the sellers soon.
  12. Great harmonies.
  13. look for a post by V7Goose. probably in the tech section. The prices on the shim tool vary a lot. You can get one from 2 places for $38. Be carefull, there is one catalog out there listing the WRONG tool for our bikes. The deal Goose got on a shim kit was due to a catalog misprint, so expect to pay over $100 for the K&L kit of 25mm shims, if you can bear the wait, and since needing shims is an iffy thing anyway, getting only the ones you need from a local dealer will be lots cheaper. You should have a valve cover gasket set, and a set of metric feeler gauges and a torque wrench. See Goose's write up, complete with pictures, posted a couple month's ago. 14. 16,000 miles is a good number. That would be almost double what my OEM Bridgestone is getting. Have an Avon ready to go on after the 400 mile run I'm making this weekend.
  15. looks like a stampede of Tazmanian Devils....
  16. So, there's no NEED to pull the drive shaft out of the pumpkin end? So if done right, no parts needed? right?
  17. Doug, that Cobra looks like a good way to get a CB on a RSTD.
  18. I think I could like this Honda with a set of bags on it. If I had the money now to own another new bike. The dual clutch sounds like something I'd like to try anyway.
  19. have fun... We'll wave as you pass back thru Georgia...
  20. congrats Brad.... Now you'll just have to find a bigger trailer...
  21. Makes ya wonder if they ever saw one before doesn't it?
  22. yep. probably comes with a cigarette lighter plug that could be cut off, and any kind of plug put on for your bike's 12Volts (if wanted).
  23. So its an '85, so has the beefed up frame, but still is likely to need a 2nd gear fix soon? It looks to be in good shape though. Just what I need another MC...
  24. Good thread. At 8,000 miles I'm going to have to replace my OEM Bridgestone in the rear very soon with an Avon Venom I have ready. So will do the lube of the driveshaft, rear pumpkin, and wheel splines with Honda Moly60. I checked and swapped my rear brake pads at 4,000 miles, but will check them again. So it sounds like no gaskets are required for this, the way I read it. I'll probably take the wheel and new Avon to the local dealer and let him change it this first time while I watch. All the previous tires I've changed have been tube type so I didn't have to worry about sealing them on the rim.
