    Lost a Pet

Sorry to hear about Fluffy. Pets bring out the best in most of us.
  4. When you get to the southern end of the Blueridge Pkwy, just keep going another 2 hours and you'll be at my place. Lots of places to ride. Then you could go to MD with the Atlanta area bunch.
  5. You are paying your Southern Taxes aren't you? Speaking of which. Its not supposed to get above freezing here next saturday, which means my kick starter won't work... I'll be in the cage.

    I'm Home

I lived in Maryland for 15 years before moving to Georgia. Once it warms up a bit, the riding is good in western Maryland, southwest-central Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Lots of scenic mountains and 2 lane twisty roads.
  7. Sometimes things just work out the way they do.. Good luck to the Dad....
  8. Once I set all posts to READ it seems to be much the same.
  9. My bike was also a NOS with full 5 year warranty from date of purchase as have all other NOS bikes I have seen except for this one batch of machines which did sell for a very low price. Thats why I posted the information, as an anomaly.
  10. I was at a friends yesterday for dinner and she had just finished cooking a shank ham and was going to throw away the bone, so instead she gave me the bone which still had a lots of meat on it, and I added a 1 lb canned ham to it and made the following recipe which I just ate for lunch. I love this stuff. Ingrediants: 1-1/2 to 2lbs diced or pulled ham and large ham bone 2 medium sized onions chopped 4 large bay leaves 1 tbls curry powder 1 tspn garlic salt 1 lb small dried black beans, rinsed 1/4 cup lentils Put all ingrediants except 1 of the onions into a large crockpot with 2 quarts of water, bring to a slow boil and then turn down to simmer. I always start this in the evening and let it simmer until lunch time the next day. It should be a soup, add a little water if too thick. When its getting close to time for lunch, I stir in the 2nd chopped medium onion and make a pan of fresh cornbread to eat with the bean soup.
  11. http://randyrick.us/RandyR/2009_0409Strength5yrBirthday.JPG here I am with my dog Strength. I have a short beard now which will likely come off when summer gets here again.
  12. It takes practice, and good hand position. The correct hand position is with your thumb behind the neck and the tips of the fingers pressing down on the strings, not the sides of the fingers. Watch a good classical guitar player to see how its supposed to be done. Sadly I don't always do this correctly. But I've learned how to cheat after many years of sloppy playing, I've learned different ways of making the same chord that minimize touching adjacent strings or open strings. Getting your finger strength up will also improve on the situation. Also, ignoring mistakes, smiling, and singing loudly, as if it was supposed to sound that way helps ....
  13. It appears that going to [Quick Links] and selecting [mark forums read] is the way to start over.
  14. I have seen a couple Tour Deluxes sold which were new-old stock, advertised as being manufacturer excess, which sold with only a 2 year warranty instead of the normal 5 year warranty.
  15. I play Larrivee acoustic guitars and have sold my other guitars since I retired. Larrivee is a company that started in Canada, but now also makes instruments in California as well. They make mandolins and electric guitars as well as acoustics. I have an acoustic and an electric bass guitar from them as well.
  16. don't click on it. Copy it and put it in your browser
  17. Buy the $10 tool and tell us what happens when you use it...
  18. I don't believe it. But I've been wrong before. If you go to the Yamaha special tools list there are a dozen different valve tools, all slightly different, for different models, including this one, and the one for our engines. There is no such thing as one Yamaha valve tool that fits all Yamahas. There are too many variables between engines.
  19. Good show.... Good memories....

  21. All amounts are approximate, I never measure anything.... 2-3 lbs of diced pork loin (or venison) paprika - a lot couple bay leaves small amount of garlic (1/4-1/2 tspn) curry powder tblspoon teaspoon of ginger large onion chopped 1/2 liter red wine pint of sour cream 2 lbs of fresh carrots large can of condensed mushroon soup a bunch of mushrooms, at least 2 cups (sliced is good) rice Marinate pork cubes in red wine overnight in a covered bowl in refridgerator. Into a 5 quart crockpot place pork and wine. add some paprika, garlic, curry powder, bay leaves, ginger, onions, mushroom soup. Bring to low boil then simmer for 4-5 hours, or overnight. Add a cup water or so to thin out add some paprika every time you stir. Add mushrooms. Add more paprika I cut the tops and tip off the carrots and clean the skin with a chore-boy pad, and slice. Dump in the carrots, and some more paprika. Simmer until the carrots are done. Add some more paprika... Make some boiled rice. Stir the sour cream into the goulash. Don't forget to add some more paprika. serve over rice. Be sure to have a bottle of Egri Bikaver (Bulls Blood) to wash it down with.
  22. http://randyrick.us/img/HappyNewYear2.gif No riding here in north Georgia today, had some snow last night and freezing rain this morning. I did get in a couple hours of riding early Christmas week so feel pretty good about the way the year went.
