  14. I logged about 130 miles this afternoon. Dahlonega to Vogel, accross Brasstown Bald to Hiawassee, to Clayton, to Clarkesville, back to Dahlonega. The only negative in the trip was being ripped off $2.80 for a small cup of bad coffee and a small sweet potato fried pie at a BP station just east of Cleveland, GA. Some snow and ice still in shaded spots, coming down to the roads edge a few times which had me wary of black ice. Lots of fine gravel on the road in many spots, which caused me to stop and inspect my bike the first time I heard it coming up off the tires, it sounded like a piece of metal dragging on the road.
  15. v7Goose wrote detailed instructions on removing the valve head covers in the 2nd gen tech Library. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=38545
  16. Sorry to hear about your beagles passing away. I lost a dog last year after 15 years, and it was hard. She was a sweetie. Dogs make us human. I have a 2nd dog, and he is what keeps me going sometimes, he takes me for walks, not the other way around

  19. After a couple weeks of mostly cold weather, it looks like friday is going to be pretty nice for January. Any one want to take a 2-3 hour afternoon ride? Maybe meet up at Moto400 at 11, have lunch and then ride?
  20. Welcome Home Annie !!!!!
  21. Ok, for all of you who have over 100,000 miles on your 2nd Gen machines. Does the odometer show 100,001 miles or does it roll over (like the old mechanical kind) and show 001 miles again? Moderator. Delete this if you want to. I would if I could. The odo had 6 digits showing, so will obviously be good until 999,999 miles (or kilometers)
  22. Shell Rotella T 15W-40 conventional oil now lists on its packaging JASO MA. The newer fully synthetic T6 oil also lists JASO-MA compliance as per the Rotella website. JASO-MA is the Japanese standard for motorcycles. So look for JASO-MA on any Rotella that you buy, and it will be ok.
  23. The Dunlop Elite III is the other popular tire here. I recently went with the Avon Venom rear, but don't have many miles on it yet.
  24. If I'm not otherwise busy when you have these, I may ride up from Georgia.
  25. My quick opinion is that for $100 I can buy a lifetime worth of good quality off the shelf filters.
