  2. Do not park under electrical wires? I wonder why (from a tire point of view)?
  3. The seller has to clear the title on it, so I won't have it for a couple weeks, until after maintenance day at your place. Too bad, because I have a feeling just about everything is going to need to be taken apart, lubed properly, new fluids, check brakes, new brake and clutch fluid, etc. I'm thinking I will pick it up on Saturday April 24th. need to coordinate with the seller.
  4. If you read the Seafoam web site, it was origonally developed as an -additive- for outboard motors burning whitegas (or naptha or coleman fuel, etc).
  5. I'd be up for a ride to Augusta to visit with Paul. Anyone else interested in this? Maybe hear if he's strong enough to have visitors.
  6. There's an active thread with discussion from a couple guys who have the Ignitech TCI. Do a search for ignitech.
  7. There was another thread about it last week. It still has 0 bids I see.
  8. Yeh, I'll try that right after I figure out how to cut a straight trench with a bucket loader...
  9. Not sure yet. I'll find out soon. The current owner said it sat for a couple years, but he had the carbs cleaned last year and it runs ok now. I'll probably throw a can of Seafoam in it on the ride home. And change the rear gear oil before I go anywhere. I'm thinking I can't get to Iowa until April 24th to pick it.... That should let the last of winter's blasts be long gone too. Its snowing here today in Georgia...
  10. From Dahlonega Ga, go north on GA 60 to Suches, take 160 east to Vogel State park and US 129. North on US 129 to east on GA 180 accross Brasstown Bald. South on GA 75 to Helen for a rest stop (if its not a weekend, then bypass Helen). If pressed for time then take GA 75 to Cleveland and GA 115 back to Dahlonega. If enough time for a more scenic route then take GA ALT 75 back to US 129, US 129 to Adair Mill Road, to Town Creek Road, to Town Creek Church Road, to Cavendar Creek Road, and back to Dahlonega with a stop at Rider's Hill for an ice cream and coffee. I'm leading the North GA M&E ride in a couple of months, and we'll probably do some of this.
  11. Well, I did it.... Thanks for the post Godlover. I have 3 weeks to pick it up. It has a crack in the lower right bag from the trailer coming around tight. Its never been lubed or had the rear gear oil changed.... It does have new tires and fresh engine oil. I have mixed feelings about pulling a trailer, but I've never tryed, so we'll see. I guess I'll have a new ride for Maintenance Day...
  12. I think ebay is putting info about you specifically in the link, that won't work for anyone else.
  13. welcome back Mike. Thanks for all you've done.
  14. Glad to see you on the forum again Annie. do medicinal liquors help the cough any?
  15. One of the most dependable and comfortable long distance touring bikes one can own. With a 30 inch inseam, you're probably ok. But there are lowering links available for the rear end and the front can be lowered easily with normal tools. But you may not need that if you decide to buy a Venture. The V4 engine is much smoother than a Vtwin, and despite what was said about it liking to be kept revved up, thats a relative thing. It pulls strongly from 3,000 rpm to its maximum at a little over 6,000 rpm. So, its no 12,000 rpm crotch rocket. The engine should go 200,000 miles without major maintenance. Read the Technical library on the second gen. There are a few quirks and maintenance tips you need to follow, but they are minor in nature and easy to self maintain. Any conjecture about a future third gen with fuel injection and a larger motor is just that conjecture. Top end on the 2nd gen is 130 mph.. how fast were you planning to ride on the trip to Alaska?
  16. I love horses. Man's best friends next to dogs....
  17. so what did you use?
  18. 18,000 miles and bad compression that looks like rings? If the engine has been maintained correctly this shouldn't be happening... 18,000 miles is just broken in for these engines.... Maybe you'll be lucky and its just a stuck valve.
  19. I'm trying something different. I just put in, from Walmart, oil Rotella T 15W-40 White jug, and filter SuperTech ST7317.
  20. Prayers sent. Be strong Paul, this will pass.
  21. I had this on my calendar. I'll probably go Friday and try to get a test ride on one or two bikes. I've ridden the Rocket III and new Thunderbird 1600 in previous demo rides. let me know if anyone else is going friday. there is a good mexican restaurant next door to Moto400 that I like to go to.
  22. I've always hoped (not calibration tested) that a 50psi gauge would be more accurate than a 100psi gauge. Thats speculation on my part. But my theory anyway..
  23. Prayers sent.
  24. All my motorcycles have one of the power take-off's of the type used by the air compressors and battery tenders. I'm wired straight to the battery posts.
