  1. Let me know when they hold a cheeseburgers around Texas rally....
  2. Thanks. I'll hold off on the tool then.
  3. Once you get around Jacksonville on 295, you can pick up US 1 again to go to St. Augustine. Or push east to A1A for the slow beach-front route.
  4. Glad to hear not all of the mo*ons live in Georgia.... But they do seem to be breeding and spreading quickly...
  5. I noticed that a company named Hinson makes clutch baskets for numerous motorcycles, including some Yamahas. I wonder if there would be enough business for them to engineer one for the 2nd gens, that might be a better solution to the engine whine than the iffy I-basket from Yamaha? I haven't contacted the compnay, and a quick internet search doesn't find the manufacturer, only resellers....
  6. I'm thinking if I had this to do over again, what I would do differently is make sure the crud in the reservoir was cleaned out before I bled the lines. I expect I could clean out the reservoirs by sucking out all fluid with a turkey baster, and then wiping the insides with a shop towel until clean. Then, fill the reservoir and run fresh fluid thru the hydraulic lines.
  7. Is this tool needed to install new plates or springs, or just to remove/replace the hub? I haven't been in the clutch before, so just preparing for the future.

    WTF

My guess.... The Chinese have bought General Motors....
  9. I just rode 441 to 23 to 1 Nice ride, good roads. A 1 day ride.
  10. I PM'd Dragonrider and he said: Most definitely there will be a Vogel V in August 2011, It will be the third weekend, the dates are 8/17 thru 8/21. I havent posted it as official yet, but I have always done it the third weekend of August. I think the cabins are the best, they are clean, and not all that expensive, We have stayed in the cabins every time we go to Vogel. Then there is always camping and RV. Lewis
  11. go to the youtube video you like. Click on the link at the top of your browser & copy it. Then just paste the link into your post here. Works for me.
  12. Lewis aka Dragonrider may be planning another Vogel (GA) Park M&E next year with a ride to the dragon likely. There's camping and cabins at Vogel and in the nearbny town of Blairsville, GA. I think the Holiday Inn Express is where most stayed who were in town. Vogel and Blairsville are on US 129 just south of the NC line. Hey Lewis .....
  13. keep us posted on the leg's progress. Maybe it'll recover ok?
  14. And the choir sang "Amen"
  15. Pastor Paul, Glad to hear you're out and your motor is running.... It looks like its going to be a good weekend.
  16. The problem I had wasn't due to a loose hose. The bleeder valve was stuck wide open and air was being pulled thru the bleeder. There was a lot of crud in the bottom of the clutch reservoir that got flushed out when I bled the fluid.
  17. I liked this statement: In addition, the company has pledged to make all of its offerings more competitive throughout its lineup.
  18. I played with the clutch while parked and tried the brakes a couple times rolling from a standstill, seemed ok. So took it for a short ride. It seems ok. But I was hesitant to lay into the brakes too hard as the streets were wet from a rain that blew thru here 30 minutes ago. I was thinking that MotionPro bleeder was an easy way to get the job done... until I saw the bubbles being pulled back into the clutch line. I guess I'll trash it and go shopping for a MityVac. The nearest Harbor Freight is about an hour and a half away, I'll make the time to go there.
  19. got mine from a car dealer.
  20. The maintenance procedure for the 2nd Gen Venture should be the same as the RSTD for most things, including timing and fuel filter. There was a recent thread on fuel filters. I don't recall anyone talking about timing in the year I've been here, but the Venture Maintenance Guide is online and can be downloaded. There's a link here on the forum. 21. I bought a Brake Bleeder made by Motion Pro http://www.motionpro.com/images/items/08-0143.jpg I used it for the first time today. Did my new-used Millennium Model brakes, front & rear OK. Started bleeding my clutch and noticed that bubbles were being sucked back into the line when I released the clutch lever. I checked to make sure the arrow on the one-way valve was pointed away from the bike, and it was... Pumped it again to confirm the situation... No doubt I now have air in my clutch line. I don't think this happened while doing my brakes, but I'll be cautious with them at first. Bled the clutch line by opening and closing the bleeder valve with a wrench each time I squeezed the clutch. A number of air bubbles came out. Time for a test ride to see if its ok.
  22. And a long single blade screwdriver will work if you don't have a phillips head.
  23. This doesn't make much sense to me either. I'd probably try to duplicate the situation and observe exactly where the drip is, and when it starts. Maybe stop the bike a couple of times and look closely as the tank starts to get low.
