  1. I played with the clutch while parked and tried the brakes a couple times rolling from a standstill, seemed ok. So took it for a short ride. It seems ok. But I was hesitant to lay into the brakes too hard as the streets were wet from a rain that blew thru here 30 minutes ago. I was thinking that MotionPro bleeder was an easy way to get the job done... until I saw the bubbles being pulled back into the clutch line. I guess I'll trash it and go shopping for a MityVac. The nearest Harbor Freight is about an hour and a half away, I'll make the time to go there.
  2. got mine from a car dealer.
  3. The maintenance procedure for the 2nd Gen Venture should be the same as the RSTD for most things, including timing and fuel filter. There was a recent thread on fuel filters. I don't recall anyone talking about timing in the year I've been here, but the Venture Maintenance Guide is online and can be downloaded. There's a link here on the forum. 4. I bought a Brake Bleeder made by Motion Pro http://www.motionpro.com/images/items/08-0143.jpg I used it for the first time today. Did my new-used Millennium Model brakes, front & rear OK. Started bleeding my clutch and noticed that bubbles were being sucked back into the line when I released the clutch lever. I checked to make sure the arrow on the one-way valve was pointed away from the bike, and it was... Pumped it again to confirm the situation... No doubt I now have air in my clutch line. I don't think this happened while doing my brakes, but I'll be cautious with them at first. Bled the clutch line by opening and closing the bleeder valve with a wrench each time I squeezed the clutch. A number of air bubbles came out. Time for a test ride to see if its ok.
  5. And a long single blade screwdriver will work if you don't have a phillips head.
  6. This doesn't make much sense to me either. I'd probably try to duplicate the situation and observe exactly where the drip is, and when it starts. Maybe stop the bike a couple of times and look closely as the tank starts to get low.
  7. Yes. Good news. Don't overdo it, but follow the physical therapists directions...
  8. Here's one more. You Ain't Goin No Where.. With Earl & Randy Scruggs, Jim McGuinn , Gene Parsons, and on lead guitar, Clarence White. And Clarence rode off into the sunset with the Byrds..... 9. Take US 441 to Athens Georgia, then Hwy 72 to Charlotte. Its an easy 2 day ride that way.

  11. The RSV I bought last month had 2k on ME880's. I've put another 2500miles on them and they are ok. They handle very well. But. I'm keeping a close eye on them and keeping the air pressure up in them.
  12. Welcome back chief...
  13. I don't get it. It really does seem to be open season on motorcyclists in a lot of places. if that same motorist killed a pedestrian, they'd be facing manslaughter charges.
  14. Dragonrider has a Vstar 1300 tourer which appears to be a very good bike. But much smaller than a Royal Star Venture. DragonRider is tied up today with his wife Charlene in the hospital
  15. sounds to me like the side lights are wired wrong, and should be on all the time like the tail lights.
  16. I thought this was a thread about Frank Zappa...
  17. Heal fast Charlene...
  18. I had a '79 XS11. Great bike.
  19. No problems that would stop someone from buying it. Take a look at the 2nd gen tech library to see what things people work on. Some have a whine in the clutch basket, but its not any noisier than most motorcycles. A 2007 should stil have 2 or more years of a transferable factory warranty. With low miles on it, it might need the fuel system cleaned up by draining the gas and putting in fresh with some SeaFoam. I'd probably change the engine oil and rear gear oil in it also. Is it a dealer demo, or a privately owned used machine?

    Surrender

I read McArthur's autobiography recently, and my opinion of him changed from a negative one as him as a warmonger (based on what I had previously believed his zeal to use nuclear weapons in Korea) to one of admiration. he was a military realist who apparently told it like it was. At the end of the major fighting, he was told to imprison the Japanese Emperor by the US War Department. He said, ok, I'll require more divisions, and large scale replacements for 2 more years, plus all necessary supplies to continue the war. Thanks for the YouTube link.
  21. I previously did a search for these carbs on the internet and the info I found indicated that they are sold by Mikuni to MC manufacturers only. There is a book on maintenance of Mikuni Carbs, but these carbs aren't in there. I wrote Mikuni an email asking about that, and they replied that one has to refer to Yamaha service guides. I'm not sure about why you would have a leak at road speed only. Maybe the vibration is enough to cause a problem.
