Mark, ouch I'm going to have to buy a new petcock for my MM too..... $24 from Yamaha for a complete assy. I suppose it could be braised if taken off and all fuel dried off it ..... RandyR -
Anyone else want to do Cedar Point the day before Freebird's Maintenance Day? I think one member said maybe in an earlier thread. http://www.cedarpoint.com/ http://www.cedarpoint.com/_upload/inside_the_park/rides/roller_coasters/corkscrew/corkscrew_01.jpg

no goop required that I am aware of. New pads will come attached to a metal backing plate.

Here's what Avon tech support said to me when I asked them. From: "Fahey, Sukoshi" sfahey@avonmoto.com To: steyrhahn@yahoo.com Dear Randy, The V rated tire is designed for the Yamaha V Max. It has a stickier compound so it gets a bit less mileage and has less of a load rating as that is not as crucial on this bike as it would be on a tour deluxe. V speed is 149 mph vs H rated which is 130 mph. The handling of the tires is the same for agility and easy turn in. At lower speeds load could be quite similar but I don’t have test results for that so I can’t quote you anything. For your bike I would stick with the H rated tire, especially since the front is H rated so you have a match. Best regards, Sukoshi Fahey (Ms.) Avon Motorcycle Tyres North America 4600 Prosper Dr., Stow, OH 44224 800-624-7470 x 3135- 5 replies

Looks like another small fix-em up on the 2000 MM RSV I bought last month. The petcock doesn't stop the flow of fuel. Discovered when I parked the bike after a long ride, noticed the shutoff was still in the off position... yet I didn't starve for fuel. Confirmed on purpose again. I suspect I need a new petcock assembly. I could probably slap one of the carb vaccum caps on the petcock if I needed to remove the tank before its fixed. Has anyone seen this before? Is it worth trying to fix? Is there a fix that might easily succeed that anyone has tried? On a 10 year old bike it might be worth getting a new petcock with new internal screen filters anyway... ????? Thoughts & suggestions appreciated.

Once you get around Jacksonville on 295, you can pick up US 1 again to go to St. Augustine. Or push east to A1A for the slow beach-front route.

Glad to hear not all of the mo*ons live in Georgia.... But they do seem to be breeding and spreading quickly...

I noticed that a company named Hinson makes clutch baskets for numerous motorcycles, including some Yamahas. I wonder if there would be enough business for them to engineer one for the 2nd gens, that might be a better solution to the engine whine than the iffy I-basket from Yamaha? I haven't contacted the compnay, and a quick internet search doesn't find the manufacturer, only resellers....

I'm thinking if I had this to do over again, what I would do differently is make sure the crud in the reservoir was cleaned out before I bled the lines. I expect I could clean out the reservoirs by sucking out all fluid with a turkey baster, and then wiping the insides with a shop towel until clean. Then, fill the reservoir and run fresh fluid thru the hydraulic lines.

Is this tool needed to install new plates or springs, or just to remove/replace the hub? I haven't been in the clutch before, so just preparing for the future.

My guess.... The Chinese have bought General Motors....

I PM'd Dragonrider and he said: Most definitely there will be a Vogel V in August 2011, It will be the third weekend, the dates are 8/17 thru 8/21. I havent posted it as official yet, but I have always done it the third weekend of August. I think the cabins are the best, they are clean, and not all that expensive, We have stayed in the cabins every time we go to Vogel. Then there is always camping and RV. Lewis

go to the youtube video you like. Click on the link at the top of your browser & copy it. Then just paste the link into your post here. Works for me. -
Lewis aka Dragonrider may be planning another Vogel (GA) Park M&E next year with a ride to the dragon likely. There's camping and cabins at Vogel and in the nearbny town of Blairsville, GA. I think the Holiday Inn Express is where most stayed who were in town. Vogel and Blairsville are on US 129 just south of the NC line. Hey Lewis .....

Pastor Paul, Glad to hear you're out and your motor is running.... It looks like its going to be a good weekend.

The problem I had wasn't due to a loose hose. The bleeder valve was stuck wide open and air was being pulled thru the bleeder. There was a lot of crud in the bottom of the clutch reservoir that got flushed out when I bled the fluid.

I liked this statement: In addition, the company has pledged to make all of its offerings more competitive throughout its lineup.
