Thanks Goose. I want to add tach and gauges. Hopefully you can get yours working without too much hassle. I'm going to be looking around at MD at what others are using.

Front Wheel Removal questions
RandyR replied to johnny-canuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Not a stealer... There is a dedicated (trustworthy) motorcycle tire shop here in town. Aren't I a lucky guy... Its part of Riders Hill in Dahlonega, GA. This is the first front tire replacement on my 08 RSTD at 11,600 miles. So I wasn't too worried about bearings. I recall a thread where someone (Goose I think) wrote about using a syringe like needle to lube the sealed bearing on these bikes. Haven't ever seen that done. Maybe its something I could get him to demo at MD next week. -
while we're on the topic.. Had a funny one happen. The Millennium I recently acquired only came with 1 key and a key tag. the PO said it was the way he got it when new. I sent the keycode from the tag to Ken Veit who's a locksmith, and he made me a pair of new keys and mailed them to me, just like he did for my RSTD. The new keys didn't work (not even close to the same cut). I'd heard about the keycode being under the gascap swingout cover. Checked that on my RSTD, and the number wasn't the same as a known good keycode. So, this made a good excuse to ride over to Calhoun, GA and meet with Ken after his regular work hours. He measured the cuts in my one good key, and then programmed his key making machine and it spit out a pair of new good keys for me. And using the measurements he took with a caliper, he was able to tell me what the keycode really was... So, in this case, the dealer had to have given the PO the WRONG key code tag with the bike when it was new.... And, Ken's wife fed me supper to boot.... nice people.

A lot dogs get sick that way if they eat food they aren't used to. They aren't the old garbage can tippers I remember from childhood... or it could just be the summer heat... If she acts ok, I wouldn't worry. As long as she didn't get into something trully unhealthy.

Front Wheel Removal questions
RandyR replied to johnny-canuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just removed the front wheel of my RSTD and had a new tire put on. I was going to to try it without removing the brake calipers. But as this thread points out, its a 5 minute job to remove the calipers. I also had to loosen the reflectors to get at the upper caliper bolt. Also removed the brakeline keeper on the lower fork to make moving the caliper easier. 2 bricks and a 1inch board fit under the front tire while on the Carbon1 adapter with feet down. That helps support it while the axle is withdrawn. -

OK First of the DA Questions Oil Filter Xross

well, that trumps my Sears MC jack Looks like it has arms that adjust to any frame, if so, then I presume something like the Carbon1 adapter isn't necessary. -

If you find you're uncomfortable with the height, the two things that can be done to improve that situation are: 1 a slightly lower seat mod, 2 lowering links and lowered front forks. While the leveling links may improve handling, they raise the seat height I believe.

Idea for Don's Maintenance Day and Carnival, 2010
RandyR replied to V7Goose's topic in Watering Hole
I'll bring my shim kit and an extra tool. I have a few of Gary's shim swap tables as well and a handy extractor tool he made. Not sure whether I'll attend the clinic or not. I was planning on going to Cedar Point on Friday to ride the roller coasters. -
trying to make too sharp of a turn at low speed can bite you if you're not careful, as has been noted. The bike is easy to handle, but is not a 400lb machine. Just take it easy at first. You might even consider taking a rider safety/training course on a loaner lightweight machine. Get the price down $1,000. You might also take a look in the classified section of this forum for a used machine.
