  2. It would be interesting to get a handling comparison between raked forks and leading links.
  3. My Yamaha dealer sells Mobil 1 4T synthetic as well as Yamalube. I wouldn't trust the above mechanic to touch my machine.
  4. Thats a beautiful bike. Too bad the weight has gotten to be too much for you to handle safely. Don't be a stranger though......
  5. Thats strange. Thats about the mileage where I would expect to have to switch from normal to reserve position...
  6. it looks like a good ride home....
  7. check for dead gophers....
  8. A new twist on the designated driver idea...... surprised me when I pulled up alongside on the way back from Steak & lube
  9. the key really only requires the cuts on one side to be used. So. you could have a key cut for your ignition on one side, and for new helmet locks on the other side. And mark the key so you know which is which. I've had an aftermarket flat key made as a spare which will fit in my wallet. Others hide a spare key on their bike.
  10. Wondering if Bob / midrsv got his tire?
  11. I think these numbers are generated by a drunk monkey pounding on a keyboard.
  12. you didn't say anything about your average speed or road conditions. At 65mph on relatively flat highways with little stop and go and using the cruise control, I get 43+ mpg with either my RSTD or RSV. if riding faster, or doing a lot of accellerating in the twisties or stop and go, then mileage falls off. I've also noticed that sometimes I'll get a bad tank of fuel that won't give the expected mileage.

  14. I'm about 4 hours south in Georgia. I'm relatively certain I could find a tire and bring it to you to be mounted if you can't find one closer. There is a stocking MC tire shop here in Dahlonega Georgia. http://www.tiretechniciansinc.com/ 706-284-2494 About 15 miles from you is: THOMPSON'S YAMAHA 2915 BAKER HWY HUNTSVILLE, TN 37756-3807 Ph: 423-663-2222 http://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/common/blank.gif going North up I-75 is: I-75 YAMAHA 171 N KEENELAND DR RICHMOND, KY 40475-8687 Ph: 859-626-0663 http://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/common/blank.gif LEXINGTON MOTORSPORTS, LLC. 2049 BRYANT RD LEXINGTON, KY 40509-9427 Ph: 859-253-0322 Talk to Honda Dealers also asking for the size you need.
  15. I have a shim kit and tool in Dahlonega, about an hour away from you.
  16. I think either Murphy NC or Blairsville GA are well centered for good riding in the 3 state area.
  17. I got my 6 pack and bowl of popcorn... let the slideshow begin.. Thanks Bobby. I remember a bet being placed that mechanic would take 2,000 pictures. It sounds like she was well short of that bet.
  18. did someone say free beer?
  19. Here's my plug for Steve Wagner who makes a custom painted grill to match the color of your 2nd Gen or available in black... http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2175&title=2nd-gen-custom-painted-radiator-grills&cat=7
  20. Several of us live in north Georgia, not too far from the Dragon. I'm about 14 miles from US 129 in Georgia. Be glad to ride with you some, and could show you the roads near 129 in Georgia. There's some good riding. btw. US 129 into NC was still closed as of TODAY. The detour signs on the TN side were still out as I rode back from MD on TN 68 past Tellico. I spent last night just south of Knoxville in Lenoir City as I was too hot & tired to ride the last 3 hours home on Sunday night.
  21. The one for sale near me is a 99 R1100. http://www.blackmountaincycles.com/cyclelistings/photos/BMW170/thumb_b66550%20bmw%20r1100rt%20(1).jpg http://www.blackmountaincycles.com/ BTw. R series BMW's are the old style air-heads. The K bikes are water cooled. Origonal K bikes were either (all) 3 or 4 cylinders on the left side. There were K75(3), K1000, K1100, K1200 and k1300. The new K1200s are 4 cyl transverse accross the front.
  22. Don & Eileen, Thanks for hosting us again. You're a true brother. It was great seeing Dylan too, we wish him the best at college.
  23. Glad to hear you'll recover and be back at-em soon..
  24. Just rolled in to Dahlonega GA. I stopped last night in Lenoir City, TN and then had a leisurely ride home this morning accross the mountains. The heat made the ride more difficult than it needed to be. And today is just the first day od summer... Had a great time. And plan on riding to Potato creek next month.
