I should be able to ride with you a ways. US 129 (section of which is the Dragon) is about 15 miles from my house. Its good riding even in north Georgia. I've been wanting to go to the motorcycle museum in Maggie Valley, its a fine ride from here to there. I'm an hour north of Atlanta.

Glad you had a good time. I got busy trying to finish a large raised garden before I leave for Indiana in the morning. Sorry I missed you, but glad you had a good vacation.

yes. I bought a set last year off ebay. The good news is that they're cheap. the bad news is that they're cheap... They only have about 1/2 the thickness of pad material of the OEM or EBC brake pads. I keep a set of them in my tool bag for emergencies, but have given the others away.

why would't FI work on RSV
RandyR replied to footsie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The Triumph 900cc twins (bonneville family) were carburated, and went to FI a couple years ago. The gas mileage didn't change. while they don't have a choke, they do have a 'warm up fast idle' lever to pull where the choke used to be. Not to be a nay-sayer. All other things equal, I would choose FI over carbs today on a new bike. But the cost of upgrade in my garage is too much. -

I like the 2nd gen venture, pretty much as it is. I would like better fuel economy, particularly at 79.99 mph However, I like ease of maintenance. I'm uneasy about the long term reliability and ease/cost of maintenance of throttle body FI. -
Apparently the M95 was a Kawasaki model OEM'd by Suzuki for only a short time. The Boulevard M95 is built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries and is a lightly restyled version of the 2005 Kawasaki Mean Streak 1600 Its the same as a kawasaki Vulcan Mean Streak 1600. http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/2005-kawasaki-motorcycle-vulcan-1600-mean-streak/o/m4467 It has a dual-throat 40mm throttle body. http://www.bikebandit.com/assets/schematics/Kawasaki/KA-0705-01240.gif

In addition to the fuel injectors, you would also need the exhaust sensors and a new TCI which you would have to program yourself. There are kits to do this available, I looked once. However, after looking at a couple of bikes where the manufacturer has gone thru this already.. ie. taken a bike which used to have carbs, and converted newer models to FI throttle body, there was little to no improvement in anything. -
The only time I might even consider running a straight 50W oil would be in an air cooled engine in the desert where it was extremely hot. even then I'd opt for a 20-50W.

sometimes brake squeal goes away after some time. I've heard that attributed to picking up some sand on the pad that eventually wears away. Also, some members here use a brake pad lube on the rear of the pads metal plate to help keep down the noise. I haven't tried this yet, but will the next time I inspect the pads.

which is why some loaders making special light loads, will fill the case with a wad and then cornmeal to keep the light powder load together and in front of the primer.

I wouldn't necessarily equate belt drive to quieter than a shaft. Some belt driven MCs have been known to have noisy belts. The 950 is air cooled, and air cooled engines are generally noisier than water cooled, in my experience. So you need to try it for yourself to see if its what you want. You might keep an eye on the Yamaha Demo Days schedule (even in the US) to see if there is one that you could easily get to, to try one if your dealers won't let you ride.

I believe a motorcycle with shared oil between the engine and transmission will wear out the oil much sooner than an engine alone.
