  1. sounds like fun..... hopefully the commercial will available on Youtube, or maybe someone here can capture it in a video file.
  2. Goes anyone have a stock right side deflector and bracket assembly they would sell? Maybe someone who has upgraded to aftermarket deflectors? oops. could a mod edit the subject to -right-
  3. congrats on the grandchild.... maybe your son will get a raise at work....
  4. I wanted to post a good comment about dealer Turn1 in Plymouth, Indiana. They are a dealer for Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, and Victory (and Polaris). I had tire troubles with my old Bushtec trailer on the trip to Potato Creek. After several stops and tele calls elsewhere trying to find new tires and tubes, Turn1 took care of me. They had tubes in stock, and ordered a pair of new tires for me which they installed on Thursday as I was leaving the International Rally. They were knowledgeable, and good to work with, and made time for me while I was on the road. And their prices seemed quite fair. I'll point out that they have a pair of new-old stock Ventures on the floor. A 2009 Red/Black, and a 2008 Silver S model. And a used 2009 Seashell/Raven. Also having a Victory factory truck demo days on July 30-31 which I wish I was nearby to take advantage of. http://turn1.com/
  5. Just remember to fill the trailer with BEER before getting to Indiana on Sunday....
  6. prayers sent. he can get out of this.
  7. For Kevin and Sue and others who made this past week possible... my vote of thanks it was great to make new friends and see the sights of northern Indiana
  8. Just got home here in Georgia. Beat the rain by about 30 minutes it would seem. Stopped at Turn1 Motorsports in Plymouth Indiana, about 15 miles south of Potato Creek. They mounted a new set of tires on my trailer to replace the old ones that came with it when I bought it in April (had ordered the tires on Monday thru them). Then had a 2 hour ride accross US 30 to Southbend, IN where one of my brothers lives. Visited the Cord, Auburn, and Duesenberg car museum in Auburn, IN on Friday. That museum is a must-see for anyone even vaguely interested in automotive history and classic old cars. http://www.automobilemuseum.org/Pages/default.aspx
  9. I should be able to ride with you a ways. US 129 (section of which is the Dragon) is about 15 miles from my house. Its good riding even in north Georgia. I've been wanting to go to the motorcycle museum in Maggie Valley, its a fine ride from here to there. I'm an hour north of Atlanta.
  10. Glad you had a good time. I got busy trying to finish a large raised garden before I leave for Indiana in the morning. Sorry I missed you, but glad you had a good vacation.
  11. Thats without using a vacuum advance isn't it?

    Brakes

yes. I bought a set last year off ebay. The good news is that they're cheap. the bad news is that they're cheap... They only have about 1/2 the thickness of pad material of the OEM or EBC brake pads. I keep a set of them in my tool bag for emergencies, but have given the others away.
  14. Another one of the great ones.....
  15. The right attitude will help as much or more than any wonder medicine....
  16. just about killed myself on a Cushman scooter that had a backwards acting throttle, once upon a time....
  17. good deal. I need repairs on my trailer, or would have offered to go get him
  18. The Triumph 900cc twins (bonneville family) were carburated, and went to FI a couple years ago. The gas mileage didn't change. while they don't have a choke, they do have a 'warm up fast idle' lever to pull where the choke used to be. Not to be a nay-sayer. All other things equal, I would choose FI over carbs today on a new bike. But the cost of upgrade in my garage is too much.
  19. Don't worry... be Happy !!!!
  20. I like the 2nd gen venture, pretty much as it is. I would like better fuel economy, particularly at 79.99 mph However, I like ease of maintenance. I'm uneasy about the long term reliability and ease/cost of maintenance of throttle body FI.
  21. Apparently the M95 was a Kawasaki model OEM'd by Suzuki for only a short time. The Boulevard M95 is built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries and is a lightly restyled version of the 2005 Kawasaki Mean Streak 1600 Its the same as a kawasaki Vulcan Mean Streak 1600. http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/2005-kawasaki-motorcycle-vulcan-1600-mean-streak/o/m4467 It has a dual-throat 40mm throttle body. http://www.bikebandit.com/assets/schematics/Kawasaki/KA-0705-01240.gif
  22. In addition to the fuel injectors, you would also need the exhaust sensors and a new TCI which you would have to program yourself. There are kits to do this available, I looked once. However, after looking at a couple of bikes where the manufacturer has gone thru this already.. ie. taken a bike which used to have carbs, and converted newer models to FI throttle body, there was little to no improvement in anything.
  23. The only time I might even consider running a straight 50W oil would be in an air cooled engine in the desert where it was extremely hot. even then I'd opt for a 20-50W.
  24. did you make it to Helen? I'm ready for a wiener schnitzel at Hans.... Not sure if you have internet connection on your trip, so I'll give you a call if I don't see anhything here. my cell is 706-284-2494
  25. sometimes brake squeal goes away after some time. I've heard that attributed to picking up some sand on the pad that eventually wears away. Also, some members here use a brake pad lube on the rear of the pads metal plate to help keep down the noise. I haven't tried this yet, but will the next time I inspect the pads.
