  1. I have the stock seat with Butler mod, and its just right (as Goldie Locks would say). Not too soft, not too hard.
  2. Looks like a good spot to keep necessaries....
  3. Prayers sent. Your dad has seen a lot
  4. Thats the way all MC seats used to be.... I'm spoiled now. My 200cc Suzuki DR's seat feels like I'm sitting on a 2x4.
  5. I wonder what year those Taiwanese MP Royal Stars were made? Wouldn't it be interesting if it was 1997-98 and they special ordered some of the early Royal Stars but with a then-custom faring on them. Yamaha then turned the fairing with other enhancements into the 2nd Gen RSV. Can anyone tell from the picture if thats an early Royal Star tank and frame or a new version frame?
  6. Appears to be an early Royal Star with Venture fairing. Although the first picture is clearly a RSV http://mp-rocmp.myweb.hinet.net/weapon/pic/ya.jpg
  7. I couldn't decide so I have one of each
  8. Even if we don't have the exact text from the recall, if the owners of those 07s would post their serial numbers then others with 07's in close proximity serial number wise would know to visit their dealer.
  9. I've loaded an mp3 player with about 5 hours of my favorite tunes. But I seldom listen to them while riding.
  10. Yes. And unless the laws have changed since my collector FFL expired the sender should have a copy of the receiving FFL's license. The person sending does not need an FFL, although some dealers will tell you otherwise, trying to collect an FFL transfer fee on both ends. Make a duplicate copy of the receiving FFL's license and include it in the package in case it gets inspected. Also, local laws can take precedence over Federal law and impose additional restrictions or obligations.
  11. Timely post. I just made a run to Walmart this morning to buy some Iverest ointment to put on a couple patches of poison (ivy/sumac/oak we got them all). It seems to work much better than plain calamine lotion.
  12. Concerning 5.1 for clutch fluid. One of our members had repeated clutch problems taking the MC safety foundation course on a RSV, and I couldn't help but wonder if constant slipping of the clutch thru the course caused it to heat up enough to boil the fluid and cause his subsequant clutch problems.
  13. My 2000 RSV MM had a lot of sediment in the bottom of both the brake and clutch reservoirs that needed to be wiped out when the reservoir was very low. A clean shop towel works for this. If yours hasn't been done for a while, be prepared for this extra step. Then fill it with fresh fluid and bleed it thru. And wipe clean the underside of the rubber diaphram that goes between the reservoir and cover.
  14. There are several kinds of FFL. retail gunshop Collector Gunsmith Importer manufacturer weapons of mass destruction etc I had a collector FFL for 25 years, it allows one to buy non-controlled weapons interstate that are over 50 years old, and allows purchase of certain class-III weapons if they are on the BATF collector list (like WWI era automatic weapons with additional federal stamps and paperwork required). Weapons classified as antiques are not regulated at the federal level (Pre-1899).
  15. rest in peace. we'll all join you one day.
  16. the newspapers sometimes carry a story of a BATF arrest of people who conduct what is known as a strawman purchase for someone not legally entitiled to buy a gun. That can include having an out of state friend buy a handgun for you out of state, even if it would have been legal to buy in your own state from an individual, or legal to have a commercial FFL transfer it for you. Its not worth $20 saved. BATF does set up stings from time to time. The number of people with dealer FFL's who will do a transfer for you has been drastically cut back the last few years. Unless you have a store front and Tax ID, its difficult to get a dealers FFL anymore, unlike the old days.
