I hope I'm wise enough and astute enough to know when I should give it up. Maybe I'll see you at one of the M&E's

sorry to hear your Dad passed on. prayers are with the family.

Yep. dog toys don't last long here either. My pooches almost made a snack out of a baby squirrel that got out of its tree and ran around the yard this afternoon. luckily I was able to grab the dogs in time.

re: shocks. I'm sure a 150 lb Japanese test rider is able to do 50,000 miles in laps around the Yamaha test track without any rear shock problems... Robot... hmm, she's kinda cute. I wonder what kind of oil she likes?

Progressive front springs installed.. WOW
RandyR replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
A good handling bike you have confidence in is worth a lot. Sounds like you made some worthwhile mods. -
I'm looking forward to seeing the new '99 at one of the M&E in the area soon. You did good. I have the Butler mod done to my RSV standard seat, you may want to try it if you haven't found a pillow top first.

How much mileage is too much on a used Venture?
RandyR replied to Humbucker's topic in Watering Hole
As long as its well maintained and any outstanding potential issues fixed up, thats not too many miles on the Venture. Many riders have to replace the rear shock by that many miles. Valves should have been checked and clearances brought within spec. brakes pads should be ok. Many riders have to have new clutch springs by that many miles. fluids fresh all around. Front fork tree should be solid. Has the seller lubed the drive shaft and splines? any leaks in the forks? But its not too many miles on this bike. -
Whenever I see storm clouds coming, I duck into the nearest Dairy Queen until its over. So, I guess you could say its never been ridden in the rain..

Yes, I've done it that way. I bought a MityVac and couldn't get it to work, so did it by hand. With just a tube into a coffee can.

You may see us (and the scoot) in a soup commercial
RandyR replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
Since I don't watch TV I'll never see it until someone records it and posts the video file or it makes it to YouTube. So are there 2 versions, someone said there were? -
I have the stock seat with Butler mod, and its just right (as Goldie Locks would say). Not too soft, not too hard.

Thats the way all MC seats used to be.... I'm spoiled now. My 200cc Suzuki DR's seat feels like I'm sitting on a 2x4.

I wonder what year those Taiwanese MP Royal Stars were made? Wouldn't it be interesting if it was 1997-98 and they special ordered some of the early Royal Stars but with a then-custom faring on them. Yamaha then turned the fairing with other enhancements into the 2nd Gen RSV. Can anyone tell from the picture if thats an early Royal Star tank and frame or a new version frame?
-
Appears to be an early Royal Star with Venture fairing. Although the first picture is clearly a RSV http://mp-rocmp.myweb.hinet.net/weapon/pic/ya.jpg

I couldn't decide so I have one of each

2007 RSTD recall
RandyR replied to new2meRSTD's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Even if we don't have the exact text from the recall, if the owners of those 07s would post their serial numbers then others with 07's in close proximity serial number wise would know to visit their dealer. -
I've loaded an mp3 player with about 5 hours of my favorite tunes. But I seldom listen to them while riding.

Yes. And unless the laws have changed since my collector FFL expired the sender should have a copy of the receiving FFL's license. The person sending does not need an FFL, although some dealers will tell you otherwise, trying to collect an FFL transfer fee on both ends. Make a duplicate copy of the receiving FFL's license and include it in the package in case it gets inspected. Also, local laws can take precedence over Federal law and impose additional restrictions or obligations.

Timely post. I just made a run to Walmart this morning to buy some Iverest ointment to put on a couple patches of poison (ivy/sumac/oak we got them all). It seems to work much better than plain calamine lotion.
