    HD Nova?

I've heard it claimed that Harley sold the design to Yamaha. Not sure if thats true or not.
  6. I'll put in a plug for the Triumph Bonneville America as the cruiser version of the new 900cc Bonneville Twin. Although I personally like the Bonneville SE package as it feels a bit more sporty and traditional. If I were going to buy a new smaller bike today, thats what I would buy.
  7. Steve was looking pretty limber for someone who just went thru a knee replacement. I dropped in just as his wife Gloria was putting out lunch, so didn't stay long or get a chance to see his new ride. Any of those weekends in March is ok with me. Thanks Steve for putting on this event again.
  8. should have taken up ice fishing to pass the time. if you don't like fish, go anyway with a couple buddies who have a heated ice shanty and play poker and drink some cheap whiskey.
  9. may he rest in God's peace.
  10. I'm thinking we should give the manager at Pizza Hut a warning in advance that we will be back in town. Things really got messed up there last summer....
  11. One caution that Canada dealers provide warranty support on bikes sold new in Canada and USa dealers on bikes sold new in the USA.
  12. I think my rear shock needs replacing....
  13. The shims are 25mm diameter. very common. lots of bikes from different makers used them, as well as Toyota automobile 4cyl engines.
  14. I was at Ft. Hood, Texas. It was the 1 year anniversary of my enlistment.
  15. So why hasn't someone who has recorded this put the video file where the rest of us can see it?
  16. welcome back Steve. I think the snow will be gone by Monday.
  17. not much more than 90 degrees would be my observation. Some valve pairs have more room than others as there are obstructions in the way of a few of the pairs. The bucket only needs to be depressed enough to allow the shim to be popped up and slid forward and out.
  18. A comment. The notches in the buckets in the drawings are lined up the way you'd like them to be so that you can easily pry out the shims. In real life, they rotate, so you need to use a pick to rotate them as desired before using the tool. On some (but not all) buckets, the shim tool will cause the bucket to rotate as the tool rotates with the cam. On these buckets you need to start the notch in the bucket about 60 degrees rotated such that the shim tool will rotate them back to the front. make sense? good drawing gary.
  19. does the SPCA know about them?
  20. Make sure the rear gear oil is changed at 600 miles and again at 1500 miles. There are frequently metal shavings in the rear gear case that need flushing out on a new bike. Change the oil filter with every oil change. Don't use friction reducing oils or additives in the engine. Don't lug the engine at low rpms when new. If you're used to a Vtwin, this V4 needs to run at 3000 rpm and up. there's no tach so I'd say use these shift points 20mph -> 2nd gear 35mph -> 3rd gear 50mph -> 4th gear 65mph -> 5th gear make sure all the bolts, nuts, and such are tightened well. The hex holding on the shifter is prone to working loose. Bring it to Maintenance Day in Oberlin Ohio at the end of May... Have an icecream...
  21. then the fight started..........
  22. so who's in charge of getting the reservation at QS&Lube ???
  23. We have similar weather here in north georgia right now. At least the clear and sunny part of it. temps only in the high 20's though. So, I'll pass, thanks.
  24. I have both hooked to the battery posts. The black post is then wired to the frame.
  25. There's a Walmart about 3 miles away where you can get a jug of oil. Assuming Don is ok with people leaving old oil at his garage ??? Don?
