I have used the Silverstar Ultra and it's better than stock. I have friends that use the PIAA xtreme white part # 70456 specifically made for bikes and vibrations, this will be the one I go with when I change out my bulb on my '86. I have also rode bikes with the HID kits installed on them and they are decent too. I would go with a better quality HID kit though as many of the "cheaper" made ones have issues with the ballasts...

Nick, Are you talking about the upper fairing where the turn signal is? or one of the lower legs. There are some plastic repair kits around that can help to repair broken plastic. If you could be a bit more specific or post up a pic that would help out a lot.

My Father took a bad fall
Squidley replied to Flyinfool's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Jeff, Never good seeing these posts on the site, fortunately it sounds like your Dad was in good shape before the fall. This I'm sure is a major reason he's still with you folks. Give it time, I look at Ponch's progress and am amazed at how he has recovered. All the best to your father and your family. -
1st Gen mufflers
Squidley replied to Iowa Guy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It says on the website that they are made by Mac, I liked the sound of the set I got from BongoBob. At $300 that's not a terrible deal for brand new mufflers for bikes that are pushing 30 years old- 2 replies

After finally getting fed up with Verizon and stupid bills, I have decided that I'm not going to pay for them anymore. Lonna and I have made the last cut from our Michigan roots and now have new cell phone numbers that reflect our TEXAS life. I have updated my profile info with the new # and will pass it on here for those that might want it. The new # is 936 232 9299, we ended up going with a Walmart family plan that is hosted by T mobile who will soon be under the AT&T umbrella. I have dropped $100 off my cell phone bill per month by doing this as for both Lonna and I it will be 70$ for unlimited talk and text....so buh bye Verizon, and rood riddance! I will be working on updating the call list of the old phones as I will cancel them at the end of this month.

Got a good deal on tires

I have used the Shinko's on an '89 I had and was pleased with the performance. Like mentioned they dont last a long time, I got about 7K from the rear, and the front lasted about 11K but for the price I would buy another set. -
I like it...Thanks Chief

Progressive makes a rear shock for the 1st gen Venture if I'm not mistaken. As far as changing it, it's pretty strait forward. You can actually change it using just the center stand. If you remove the front wheel and let the bike tip down on the bottom of the front forks it will bring the rear of the bike up plenty high enough to remove the rear wheel for access to the shock. If you use this method make sure that you take a ratchet strap and pull the center stand forward so it can't fold backwards. If you need any help my cell number is in my profile and I can walk you through most of it....nice looking '83 BTW.

Good on ya Tom, if your comfortable and like it, then thats all that matters. Your welcome here in Texas anytime on whatever bike you show up on
