I have a question for the masses, as I know we have a greatly diversified group of folks here. The new house that Lonna and I are moving into, has in the past been burglarized and they stole copper wire and such. We are going to install an alarm system as the owners of whom we are going to purchase it from in a couple of years, have agreed to split the install cost in half with us. We checked into ADT, and I guess they think their stuff and product is gold. Price was not what I would have thought and they were very pushy to have it installed immediately. There also was a quote from FrontPoint security, lots of the bells and whistles like ADT, but more reasonably priced. My question for y'all is, have any of you dealt with this FrontPoint and or other security companies, and what insight can you pass on to me about the industry for those of you in the know?

1991 Mk2 VR front rotor
Squidley replied to Mike Mercury's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'll be interested in your findings, these are floating rotors correct? BTW what years did the rotors come off? -
Been through Carpal surgery with Lonna twice, she's much better because of it. Take care of yourself and here's hoping your healing is fast and complete.

I have done this on 3 Ventures with zero problems, the handle pull will be noticeably harder though. The '86 I have now has the 2 springs in it and will quite easily pull the front wheel off the ground if I wish to do that. It locks up great and you wont have to worry about it. Make sure you cleans the steels real well, if you have access to a sand blaster use that and then take some scotchbright to surface it.....

Now what I'm about to say is probably not "legal" but I would keep the inspection sticker in the trunk where you have it if you have to prove the bike was inspected. I also DO NOT like to HAVE to put any kind of sticker on my bike because someone says I have to. If it has been legally inspected, then there shouldn't be any issue.

I have used the Silverstar Ultra and it's better than stock. I have friends that use the PIAA xtreme white part # 70456 specifically made for bikes and vibrations, this will be the one I go with when I change out my bulb on my '86. I have also rode bikes with the HID kits installed on them and they are decent too. I would go with a better quality HID kit though as many of the "cheaper" made ones have issues with the ballasts...

Nick, Are you talking about the upper fairing where the turn signal is? or one of the lower legs. There are some plastic repair kits around that can help to repair broken plastic. If you could be a bit more specific or post up a pic that would help out a lot.

My Father took a bad fall
Squidley replied to Flyinfool's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Jeff, Never good seeing these posts on the site, fortunately it sounds like your Dad was in good shape before the fall. This I'm sure is a major reason he's still with you folks. Give it time, I look at Ponch's progress and am amazed at how he has recovered. All the best to your father and your family. -
1st Gen mufflers
Squidley replied to Iowa Guy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It says on the website that they are made by Mac, I liked the sound of the set I got from BongoBob. At $300 that's not a terrible deal for brand new mufflers for bikes that are pushing 30 years old- 2 replies
