  1. John, If you haven't bought that trailer....dont, WAY too heavy empty, remember the RSV weighs in at 900+ lbs, and another 600lb trailer, this one isn't made for the bikes
  2. Well DUH!!!
  3. This place is kinda cool isn't it
  4. All the best in the new adventure Mo, I know all about life going off the tracks
  5. You know I totally forgot they used that color in the '93 model as well I knew of the 2 years as I had the '89, and Jus Monkeyin Around here in Texas has a '90 that was the same color combo. I'm usually pretty good with telling the model years by the bikes color as the Venture for the most part has only had 2 colors each model year...kinda useless information stuffed up in me knoggin
  6. ....Nothing like being the last to know! Imagine my surprise when 2 of my most favorite people all the way from Bogalusa Louzianner show up at my door step at 5 pm tonight. Now I still didn't know what was going on, I'm not about to look a gift horse in the mouth as we haven't seen Kenny and Beth in WAY too long, so I just say sweet! glad you decided to come out, even though I though it was strange. Well Lonna finally spilled the beans to me and now instead of being the worker sub, I'm the General Contractor So now I'm trying to run through my head what needs to be done and how it's going to happen Bottom line....I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I love the folks here and most of all, the friends that will drive 7 hours from points far and wide to help us out. Gunboat is right, I would never ask for help, thats just not me, but I'm humbled that so many of you would come over to give us a hand. The driveway is cool, up by the house there are some soft spots but down at the road end it's cool, so Owen you can bring the FJR Thanks to all for your thoughts and offers to help. Gunboat.....you know I love you Pop, thanks for thinking of us
  7. Happy Birthday Tom!!! May you have many more my friend
  8. Mark, Budget wise, doubling the stock diaphragm spring and replacing the back half friction disc with a full one is probably the cheapest route. You would need to have the cover gasket on hand too in case the old one doesn't come off in 1 piece. This also was the one that really locked the plates up and worked very well, only drawback is your left hand WILL get a workout. The clutch handle pull is noticeably harder and in stop and go traffic you might be cursing under your breath. The PCW route will run you just under $100 shipped and comes with a new gasket, full friction disc for the back, and new thicker diaphragm spring, it's plug and play all the way. Skydock's kit is the same way and is a bit cheaper in price. If you want to go the budget route PM me as I believe I have an extra stock spring, as well as a full friction disc I can get to you.
  9. Mark, May you and your family know peace when your father goes home, I can only hope that I get to keep my parents until they get to be that old...all the best to you, and your father.
  10. Dan, I know a guy down here in Texas that tours the country on one of them. They are a great machine and I was very surprised when I was on one of my RSV's with the cruise set at about 75mph and one of them passed me. Me thinks she's gonna love that scooter...you might too
  11. Don, Is the ability to post vertically like Jeff did, part of our ability to do with the sites image like he did on his post with the text in between
  12. BZZZZZT wrong answer, I know SEVERAL Canadian Rednecks..... I know you have heard of Red Green
  13. Come down to Texas and Lonna will make you a Gumbo that Kenny Brandton's wife Beth gave her the recipe for. Beth is a born and raised Louzianner gal and can cook like you can't believe, I sure as hell dont know how Kenny stays so skinny
  14. Your not using the image attachment that Don has for the site. Your adding your pics remotely from another URL correct.
  15. Bill, Contact Pegscraper here on the site, he also has the early Royal Star and has done some heavy modification of his bike including upgrading to the bigger Venture carbs. He might have the old set of carbs that were originally on his bike or know of some available....
  16. It might be something on your end, as the ability to add additional pics after the post has been made has always been there, atleast on mine it is
  17. Jeff, If you are using the sites manage attachment option for your pics, go back to edit, go advanced, go to manage attachments and you can remove the pic that way.
  18. Just some additional here, when you go to change out the spring and or the rear friction disc with a full sized one. Make sure that you scuff up the steels before reinstall them. This will remove any glazing that might have occurred if your clutch was slipping. I have done dozens of clutch upgrades, PCW, Skydoc's, and the cheap method of doubling up 2 stock springs. I have done all 3 methods on Ventures I have owned, and they all work great, it's all about how much money you want to throw at it.
  19. Happy Birthday Jeff!!!
  20. '89 or '90 model Steve, had an '89 the same color and I put a good amount of miles on it. That one looks in good shape from the pics....enjoy your new toy
  21. I just bought the same exact 2 hoses you pictured from Napa and put them on my '86. I did modify the one that goes to the front of the engine as I didn't like how it routed. I installed a brass barbed fitting to shorten the length after the 1st bend, it fit a bit better now. FWIW, your going to have to use the factory clamp at the head section. install it at the bottom of the hose and spray the inside of the hose with some WD40 it is a bear to get on as the wall thickness of the new hose is a bit thicker...but it will go on.
  22. It was 1985, I was 19 and it was a '78 Honda CB 750K with a Vetter fairing and an 8 track!
  23. Yeah....gonna be a busy summer Good on ya both, can't wait to see it
  24. Another One!!! You would think he would learn by now
