  1. That is an insane price for a wing trike and a trailer, I doubt it's going to be available for long.
  2. If it could work out for you, I am heading to Michigan middle of September. I could always go into NY and ride it down to you folks in Georgia if the stars align and such.....
  3. If your going to get a Stebel horn for the bike, you might consider these 2 things. They are made by Carbon One, he's one of our member vendors and we'll worth the no hassle of a plug and play setup. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3727&title=stebel-horn-wiring-harness&cat=24 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3726&title=carbon-one-stebel-horn-bracket&cat=24
  4. Y'all definitely make us proud to be here, but I expect nothing less from this group. Thats the way it has always been and I'm sure the way it will stay for years to come. Way to show folks what it's all about and how it's done!
  5. Thats AWESOME!!! I dont know how I would react being able to enjoy the scenery and have someone else commandeer the bike
  6. Carlos, Sometimes they need a little persuasion, grab the back end of the pipe, where the exhaust comes out. Rock it side to side as far as you can, then up and down as far as you can. This will help "open" the slip on over the headers. While pulling backwards and away from the headers, rotate it in a circular motion. Keep doing this and they will come off. Like mentioned take some emory cloth or 320 grit sandpaper and clean the headers as clean as you can get them before you install the stock pipes....
  7. I have a feeling that those carbs will have to come off and be properly cleaned. Seafoam is good stuff, but if a jet is plugged, Seafoam wont unblock it. Like mentioned, do a tuneup 1st, if your not getting spark, having fuel there is useless....
  8. Great pics, I love the ones of y'all working in the Pioneer shop, Bull looks like he was up to his elbows in it, as well as all the others....Good on y'all!
  9. You should just be able to copy and paste the URL header from up top and insert it into the body of the thread. http://s698.photobucket.com/albums/vv343/weldman333/
  10. I can appreciate your insight, and the RTV is just a temporary thing. If there are holes in the diaphragms, they need to be replaced with new ones. My thing is the RTV will last long enough to get whats needed for replacement and installed. It will also help along with the troubleshooting process. Thanks for the clarification and trying to help Tom along
  11. Tom, What I am going to mention is what I do everytime I get a used 1st gen. Start with a complete tune up, plugs, wires, fuel filter. It sounds like the carbs are in need of some serious cleaning, the slider diaphragm sounds like it might have holes in it and need to be replaced. A quick fix for holes in the diaphragm is black RTV and let it set up. Drain the bowls of all fuel and make sure that they are filling with gas. Also while it's running tap on the bowls of each of the carbs, there is probably crud in them. There is a ton of info here on the site about getting into the carbs and such. If you fairly handy with a wrench and not afraid to get dirty, you can get it rolling again. If you have any questions my # is in my profile.
  12. I know just how you feel.....enjoy your "Vacation"
  13. I take it you REALLY liked Niagara Falls
  14. Here's my dont waste your time and money rebuilding the slave cylinder. It's pot metal at best and if there is any pitting or scoring inside the cylinder bore, your going to waste a rebuild kit. I replaced my slave on my '86 with a new one for about $70, brand new, didn't have to worry about it leaking. If your thinking about keeping this bike for any period of time, do yourself a favor and put a new one in.
  15. The ones I just looked at on the web were between $300 and $400, it's getting late in the season so if it could be got for less than $300 that would be a good deal. Otherwise I would go with a HF as you can get them new on sale for right at the $300....$0.02
  16. Just trying to keep it real Patti, you know what a chore it can be to plan for something like this
  17. By the looks of the pics and the testaments I have heard, it seems the rally was a great success. Congrats to all the NY crew that helped put this together
  18. I'm not going to comment on where it should be, as far south as we are it will be a LONG ride for us. What I want to say is to those who think they want to do this, make sure you can handle the headaches that are involved with it. I hosted the '07 in Colorado, and you have to be able to think on your feet and be flexible. No matter how much planning you do, there will always be something come up. Get a trusted group of folks that you know personally, in order for it to go off as planned everyone that has a part in it will need to pull their weight. While planning it, you can't talk enough about it, keep good communication with it. Every IR I have been able to attend has been awesome, the planners worked very hard and really threw a great event. Doing one has every potential for disrupting your life, I just want whomever decides to pick up the ball to know what they are in for. Fortunately there are a few of us that have had the headaches for you, and we can help guide you around some of the pitfalls
  19. Happy Birthday You Big Dummy!!!
  20. Paul, I notice you have a '99 RSTD, so I'm assuming your calling that bike a 1st gen. Regardless if thats the bike your talking about, or the 1st gen Venture, your not going to find or be able to build a wider rim that will work. It's VERY tight along the swing arm with a stock tire on, little own a wider setup. It will rub the shaft tube, I have seen only 1 RSV that had a slightly wider tire fit on the rear and not rub the driveshaft, and I believe that was a fluke.
  21. This is normal, especially in Georgia. There are lower air wings that can be installed on the lower crash bars that you can open and catch air and blow that cool 95 degree air past your feet sitting next to the 200 degree air....yeah that meant to be sarcastic. Here's a set on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Tinted-Lower-Wind-Vents-for-Fits-99-11-Royal-Star-Venture-/330768510673?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d0356eed1&vxp=mtr
  22. Cb, To be quite honest with you, 8500 miles is zero miles. If you have gone through and changed the fluids (Brake, Clutch) on a regular basis, and kept your fuel in good condition when it wasn't being ridden, the bike really shouldn't need anything....except a LOT more riding
  23. Thats not a real welcome sign, you can see the contrast difference on the white lettering, but I agree with the others....it's great!
  24. It will work either way as far as I know, but if I install a switch, I put it on the 12v+ to power the relay....
