  1. Thank You folks, It was a reasonable day, went to work (should have called off instead) then home, shower and met Lonna, our daughter and her beau at a place that claimed to have the best burgers in Houston, call Smashburger. It was a decent burger, but driving into North Houston to get it just plain sucked! Now were at home and I'm having some Moose Tracks Ice Cream It was a good day, and you know what, this is the oldest I've ever been....and it's a little north of 40, getting closer to 50 Thanks again
  2. Probably a pretty good chance we'll be able to make that
  3. I hope you can make it, we can get you a lot of education while your here even if you dont have either one of your bikes with you. The 1st gen and RSTD wheels are pretty much identical so they have the same hub set up.
  4. I have 1 fryer and we'll have burgers and dogs here too, so I think we'll have the dead stuff covered. I'll get Don's cooler back to him as I have both of them from Doodles BTW I posted it up in the calendar http://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=340&day=2012-10-27
  5. Have you ever had the rear wheel off and inspected the hub fingers? Is the pig oil level good? couple of things it could be, but removal of the wheel will shed some light on it a bit better....get it over here to MD and we'll figure it out
  6. That doesn't surprise me a bit with Canadians, Good job all our brothers and sisters to the north
  7. Gary, My door is always open and you, as well as everyone else, are welcomed here anytime. Have a good time with your guests and we'll catch you at the next one
  8. I nominate you to be our test rider with them Kyle Seriously though, if they mount right up to a RK then with the mods you have on the bike it will slip right on yours. Give it a shot and tell us what you think, a sound bite would be cool too
  9. Bring em....we have lots of room here and if they take a week, well we'll handle that too You'll be surprised at how much we can do in a day or two
  10. Just a bump and update... If anyone needs to do tires I have the tire machine from Kregs here as well as the balancer. So if you need to change out tires you can send them to my place and we can get them changed out. Folks have been asking me what they can bring. If anyone wants to bring something, perhaps a specialty dish you make, that would be great. I will have some dead stuff for the grill and I'm tossing around the idea of deep frying a turkey as i dont think my smoker will be modified in time. Looking forward to seeing everyone and ripping things apart
  11. Sorry we couldn't be there with y'all, no matter the turn out, it's always a great thing that is done by donating and being there. Thanks to all of you that do what you do to represent us when you go...especially you, Lewis and Charlene
  12. Brian, Glad your on the forum telling us about it. It definitely sucks that it happened, but your here and sounds like quite reasonably on the mend. All the best in your recovery and let us know if there is anything we can help you with.
  13. Happy Birthday Dave!!!

  16. It's not hard to mess up your old mind Mr. Owl....but it sure is a lot of fun Ouch! we sure are glad that your here with us my friend, there will be another Texas MD JB, that would be great if you can swing out here, it will be great to see you
  17. We'll get caught up with you and Sarah when y'all get back, be careful Bud That would be a good road trip, we have room for you here at the house if you can make it
  18. About damn time you got your behind back here! Hope all is going well my friend, really good to see you back on here
  19. I haven't posted on the other threads Larry, but I knew Saturday night while we were having Gunboats birthday party as Heather called me. You have been in our prayers and I know that I couldn't have said anything that wasn't mentioned. I am very happy to see your green light on and YOU letting us know that your doing better. Been down, know that, and it's a great feeling to be the one conveying how good one is doing. We will continue to keep you in our thoughts, a machine can be replaced, you, my friend, cannot. I will continue to keep good vibes coming your way and wish you all the best.
  20. It will definitely be good to see you again Art
  21. Yeah it does Rob, with the springs out and the forks completely collapsed, the oil level needs to be 5 1/2" from the top of the tube. I usually just take a combination square and adjust it to the 5 1/2" mark and when the fluid just touches the end of the square I'm good. I have almost always cut the spacers at 3/4 of an inch with good results. I am going to try and cut a set at 1" on my '86 to see the difference in the ride.
  22. Rob, Absolutely you can, you can take a small piece of heavy wall PVC pipe (3/4 or 1" will work) and cut 2 pieces at 3/4 to an inch long, depending on how much spring pressure you want in the forks and a washer to size and install them in. If you have any questions my # is in my profile and I can walk you right through it.
  23. Thats awesome Lewis, I'm very happy to hear that she enjoyed it and your getting all the bugs worked out of it
  24. Outstanding, nice job Mom!
  25. Enjoy your trip and be careful, take lots of pics of balloonfest, I'd love to see that one of these days.
