  1. To all our members affected by this Huricane, please know that your in our thoughts and were talking with the man upstairs for y'all to get your lives back to normal. PLEASE be careful, if you dont have to go out....DONT. This is nasty stuff mother nature is throwing at you. If there's anything we can do to help y'all please let us know....all the best to you folks.
  2. The door is always open and we'll leave the lights on for y'all
  3. Hoping that she is getting along as well as can be expected, were still here if she needs us.
  4. Be careful and we'll catch up with y'all in a few days
  5. 1st off I want to thank everyone that was able to make it out here! As the old saying goes "post it and they will come" this time was no different. Way too many folks to thanks, and I'll start with Lonna, she NEVER shy's away when I have these crazy ideas to open our home up to who knows how many folks. She and Beth Branton, busted their butts to make the potato and macaroni salads. It would never go as smooth as it does without her hard work and I appreciate it very much All the folks that brought food for the eatin part of MD, Owens Maggie for the beans (these seriously are some of the best beans I have ever eaten) Molly Kuhns, for the peach cobbler and the corn casserole, and brownies. Jerry Van Avery for his dish, and everything else that others brought or made that my rememberer can't pinpoint. Kreg and Janet for bringing the cover and the use of the tire machine, and all the general help. Halmost There (Hal Cameron) who brought over his new balls out smoker on a trailer. The ribs, chicken legs and Boudan, which were all seriously good. He cooked the majority of the day and it was all delicious! Gunboat for the typical delivery of the much loved Blue Bell Ice Cream Just too much food and great camaraderie, it was a perfect day, started out a bit on the chilly side but the sun was out all day and warmed up to the low 70's pretty quick. I took a few pics which are below, and again THANK YOU ALL for making it an awesome day. This was my very 1st MD at any of the houses we have lived in. This will be an annual deal as I will host the Fall Houston MD and Kreg will host the Spring Houston MD at his house in Waller....Thanks again for making this a great weekend I will not soon forget.
  6. Paul, There is also an alignment mark where the front pressure plate aligns with the clutch basket. You will see a deeper circle indent and there is a corresponding one on the tit of the retaining bolt support of the basket. If these aren't lined up it will not work right, if you have any questions call me.
  7. Keith, It will be good to see you again, been far too long. Be careful getting up here and give a call if you have any issues. Mark, We'll do more stuff, your welcome out at the house anytime. Nobody needs a MD if they have some work done on their bike, I always have an open door here. I'll be up by 6 and Zipcode will be here by 7, come whenever you want...sleep in for a change
  8. It's all because we love you both Buddy! Lonna and I know the feeling of being kept here for other business the man upstairs has in store for us.....
  9. I just wanted to touch base on something that concerns me a bit. The end of my drivway is a bit funky. #1 There is some sand at the very end of it, so I want y'all to be aware of that and prepare for it. It also climbs up a bit, so when you pull in and straiten up commit and come up in, the rest is hard packed. #2 The driveway is not perpendicular to the road, if your coming from the West on Old 105, you'll turn in to the left and it's smooth sailing up as the driveway is angling to the right. If your coming in from the East on Old 105, your going to make a right in the driveway and it will continue to the right. If you go to Google maps and type in the address, then go to the satellite view and zoom all the way in you'll see how it is angled. Just wanted to give you a heads up so it wasn't a surprise when y'all pull in. Weather is looking to be nice and cool, and any rain should be long gone.....I'm pretty stoked!!
  10. Totally understandable Art, we weer looking forward to seeing you again and perhaps the wife, but life can waylay the best of plans. All the best to your daughters father in law. James....we'll have more my friend, take care of business and we'll get with you and Lynn soon...all the best to the family. We'll be waiting to see you folks at Gunboats Worst case is your going to foul some plugs and get crappy fuel mileage. Get it down here and we'll get it figured out. If you have any issues call me on my cell and we'll come get you. Paul, That would be awesome if you could get it squared away, we have plenty of room in the house and your more than welcome to stay as long as you want
  11. If you decide to do this, like mentioned, the balance is the crucial issue. Depending on how high the table is your going to set it on, will determine the butt pucker factor. Keep in kind that you obviously want the legs on the engine stand extended as far as you can get them and the lift arm as short as you can get. Move the bike as close to the table as you can so your not trying to push 800+ lbs 3' in the air much distance. All the plastic off is a great idea, and it will give you some more hand holds. That being mentioned I would want to do it with 3 people. Me being in control of the hoist and 1 person on the front and back. The bigger the guys on the front and back the better. Make sure your table is plenty sturdy enough to handle 1000 lbs....good luck with your move.
  12. Lots of good advise here, personally, unless it's pretty spotless and shows VERY well, $4K is about a realistic price. The 65K isn't a big deal, if it's been maintained well. I would want to see receipts either for the owner buying oil and such, or a dealer invoice if it was performed by a dealer. The stator replacement I would want to know who did it. I am fairly good at doing them, having 6 under my belt. I still had some issues with leaks around the wires and I'm anal on cleaning all the surfaces. What I'm driving to is making sure it was done properly. The valve job is a reasonable size job, and at 65K it's about time to check them. If your handy, it's just time, but if your a bit apprehensive then a dealer is the best bet.
  13. Perry, I will be home by 4:30 after work on Friday, bring the bike and we'll put her in the garage. Looking very forward to seeing y'all again, been way too long my friend. Paul, I was really hoping you would be able to make it, but like I mentioned, you dont need a MD to get over here and have the bike worked on. Whenever you can get the time, let me know and we'll make a weekend out of it. Feel free to bring your daughter too, I dont know where y'all live, but were in the sticks and it's very peaceful out here. We'll catch up with you when things slow down a bit for you
  14. Unless you have some contaminants in the fuel system (small particles) perhaps a float was soaked and a bit heavy. Did you put new floats needles in when you broke the carbs apart? Did you try to tap on the bowl and see if the fuel would stop flowing? A few more specifics and I'm sure we can track it down
  15. I have the tire and rim thats on the '99 in the garage, we got it covered Hey folks, If you have a couple of chairs you can bring with you, that would be great. We have some, but not enough for everyone. Been busy getting some wood cut up for the bon fire, were pretty much ready to go besides the typical last minute stuff. Getting excited to see everyone on Saturday!
  16. I had one, and your right, it was scary fast, wish I still had it
  17. Wanted to mention that we are going to have a set of 2nd gen carbs that we will be setting the floats on. George C has his carbs off his '07 and we will pull them apart and clean them out and set the floats if they need it. The grub is gonna be great, Halmost There is going to bring his new bbq grill and will do some ribs and chickens. We have dogs and burgers, I'll be deep frying a turkey and we'll do another turkey in Hal's cooker. There will be a couple cheesecakes and all the rest of the fixin. if nothing else show up to eat, there's gonna be plenty. If folks have any questions get ahold of me, looking forward to Saturday...it's gonna be great! BTW, this a rain or shine event, the garage is 1200 sq ft and we can get lots of bikes in there to work on
  18. We were looking forward to seeing you folks but I understand things happen.
  19. What a shame, too young to not have your Mother and Wife. All the best to the family.
  20. Ummmm...no
  21. Thank you my friend, we will definitely keep that in mind when making plans to get over there
  22. Seems to me that there is that one, or another Ventures song on the Potato Creek DVD that Floyd made way back in '05 when we were just a wee lad of a website
  23. If you leave by tomorrow, you'll be here just in time
  24. I wanted to chat a minute with this being less than a week away. If you have hand tools you can bring with you, please do. I have lots of tools here, but the more tools we have available the more we can get done and faster. I also want to mention to folks that are new with the Maintenance Day get together. This is a learning day, we have no problem jumping into as big a project as you want, but you will need to be hands on with your machine. I dont say this to be mean, but there have been past times where folks have shown up and someone started to work on their bike and the owner has walked off and visited while someone else did the work on their bike. Thats not what this is about, it's about learning how to do your own maintenance on your bike. We will gladly share knowledge with any and everyone. I will be getting a turkey for the deep frier, there will be dogs and burgers here. If anyone has a specialty dish they make well and want to bring that, please do. This is looking to be atleast 20 people for sure and it could be up to 40. Like I mentioned plenty of room to camp and set up tents/popups here. The house is pretty much filled but there could be some floor space squeaked out. Call me if you have any questions. I am in the process of cleaning the garage up, and getting maximum floor space available. We can pretty easily park a dozen bikes in the garage. Looking forward to seeing everyone, be safe getting here and we'll see y'all next Friday/Saturday!
  25. We'll work on that Steve, pretty nuts right now here. My Dad is planning on coming down to Texas 1st of December. We are planning on going west to San Antonio, perhaps we can catch up with y'all while were over there It will be great having you here, even if it's for a short visit Dave. You'll be surprised at how far it's come
