Draining the water pump
Squidley replied to DarkLeftArm's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Gunny, As I recall it's pretty strait fwd there is a mechanical seal right behind the water pump impeller. Then on the opposite side of the case there is an oil seal and a bearing. You would have to remove that side cover to get at all of it as there is a circlip that holds it in place. Are you having issues with yours ? -

Ron, If your planning on using the stock headlight housing thats on the Venture, you'll need to make sure that you get an H4 bulb kit to fit into the stock housing. I know some folks have gone and swapped out the stock glass for a different look, like an Adjure Tri Bar. It's fairly labor intensive to do that. The 6K on the light scale is a good choice, I personally wouldn't go higher than that as I believe you'll loose a bit of brightening along the road. The kit you have in your post looks pretty nice, plug and play from what I can see. You'll just have to find a place to hide the ballast for it. I have installed a couple of the HID kits on the G2's and RSTDs and it's not a terrible thing.... PS Give me a call if you have any questions #'s in my profile

Looks like you did pretty good on that one, I'll bet she cleans up shiny as a new penny with some elbow grease. Now only 4 1/2 months until you can ride it back in Michigan -
Make sure all the carb bowls are getting fuel. Open the drains and drain the bowls completely, then turn the key on and let them fill back up. This will insure your getting fuel inside all the bowls. If you haven't changed the wires and caps out, do that, spark plugs too. You can tell if your diaphragms have holes in them by watching the speed at which your slide go back to the closed position with the air cleaner cover off. Holes in them, it will be noticeably faster to close. You may need to take the carbs off and go through them as Seafoam will only work if there is an opening in the jets, if they are completely clogged shut, it wont do any good as it needs to flow through to clean properly.

Ours is like Capt Joe mentioned, it clears the combustion chamber 1st by allowing the blower to come on and clear it out. Then there is a glow element that heats up orange hot and then one it meets that criteria, it opens the gas valve and allows the flame to ignite in the combustion chamber. Sounds like it might be a bit dirty. I would have them bring in someone trustworthy to perform a cleaning of the furnace. I had it done to ours up north every year before the cold set in....

Jesus, I know I am not the 1st person to wish you a Happy Birthday today, on the 2012th year of your birth. I also am not the 1st person to seek you out this day, there have been many before me that today have looked to you for guidance and comfort, and you have been there for them. I'm probably not the 1st biker to speak with you and wish you a Birthday greeting today. I may not be the first at a lot of things that pertain to you, on the day of your birth. I do want to be the 1st here, on this tiny website, full of people that follow you, know or try to know you, and some that are maybe interested in knowing you, to wish you that Happy Birthday. After all, it is you, the most recognized person in the entire world, who was given to us this day, so many years ago. You also gave yourself to us, to be our light and beacon on our path to being with our creator, Thank You for doing this. The sacrifice you made, for your father, to deal with satan for our souls, there are many that remember what you did, and are very thankful to you for doing it. I suppose what I'm really trying to say, is Thank You for this place, this website, to it's creator Don Nelson and his family that always opens up their home and their hearts to us, much like you do. Thank You for all the people that I have met here, who have touched my soul, and my heart and gave me some faith in humanity. My only wish, on this day of your birth, is that all the people whom I call friends here, the ones who enrich my life and put up with me. That you bless them and everyone on this planet on this day of your birth, because it's the best gift I can think of, to give them. We as humans, still hold some hope that we'll get it right one day, as we know you still believe in us. So Thank You Jesus, for being here for us, and Happy Birthday to you. I hope we can give you part of the present you really want, Peace for us down here.....

Suspension Air Pressure?
Squidley replied to af226's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I like a bit firmer suspension, I run 15 in the front and 45 to 50 in the rear. The max on the front is 21 and max on the rear is 75. I am 280 lbs and there is usually 15 lbs of "Stuff" in the bike. -

So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing Jay. As corny as it sounds, focus on all the years you had him. The bad will pass, and the good memories will be the ones you remember....All the best to your family.
