  1. Bummer, perhaps someone with some good fabricating skills could modify them into a set of highway boards for stretching their legs out
  2. Thanks for the input fellas, I am actually going to try the "HO" stator from Ricks Motorsports in NH. I haven't tried it yet and it doesn't sound like many here have either. It would be nice for me to add some real world experience with it. I am going with a complete "system" new HO stator and their matching Regulator/Rectifier. I should have it installed in a couple of weeks and I'll let y'all know what my initial thoughts are once I get a few hundred miles on it
  3. Thats no lie there Bob, I acquired a BUNCH of stuff from oldschool when he wanted me to get his garage cleared out. I had stuff before that, it's time to get some space back and put that cash towards another G2
  4. I know this isn't the perfect forum for this, but it will work. I have a garage FULL of 1st gen parts, and I need to thin it out drastically. I will be posting pics in the classifieds, but wanted to give a heads up to the 1st gen folks. Here are a few of the body parts I have... Left side upper fairing, fair condition Couple of front fenders, fair to good condition 2 sets of MKI saddlebags, 1 with key for locks, 1 without key, Good shape Trunk for '85 and base, Fair condition 3 seats, 2 in fair shape, 1 in not so good 2 faux tank covers 1 pair of engine side panels, fair to good condition 5 factory stereos all work, including the cassette players, fair to good condition 1 CLASS pump compressor assembly, works well I could go on, but you get the drift. If anyone is looking for oddball parts, I have a got of inner plastic parts, fenderwells and such. If your looking for something shoot me a PM, or if you want to buy the lot of misc parts, we can do that too.
  5. Funny this thread came up, I am working on the same idea as I have a Suzuki Intruder that I need to sync the cabs on and the tank is right in the way. I'm not sure what exactly the bottle is from, but it will hold a decent amount of gas. I wanted to be able to shut it off for disconnecting it and the 1/4" ball valve was really all I could come up with at the moment. I installed a hard rim air schrader valve up top for venting it (I'll remove the schrader once the bottle is hanging) and have it installed while filling it with fuel. I want to find one of the roll around IV hangers, like are used in hospitals to hang it from and have it be movable easy. I have yet tried it, but thats going to happen real soon.
  6. Do they have any #'s on them at all Mike?
  7. Keep us updated on how they work out for you Ron
  8. Frank, When most of us mention about re-greasing the bearings, we say that with this in mind. The bearings dont come greased very well from the factory, and I have had a couple of axles that the bearings weren't adjusted correctly. So I just usually start right from scratch, and clean all the old grease out. It doesn't make a difference if they are 8" or 12" wheels, I just like having the piece of mind knowing that it is done correctly with good quality grease. The bearing buddies go on in place of the bearing caps. They are spring loaded and keep plenty of grease into the bearings and races so you dont have issues. They make the greasing very easy as I mentioned in the top of this thread of how I grease them. I have a set of the trailer I use to haul bikes around and usually about once every 6 months, or before I plan on going on a long trip, I have a grease gun thats filled with the wheel bearing grease I use (Kendall Super Blu) and add some grease to it. Grease breaks down over time and this keeps it topped off good. The bearing buddies were originally made for boat trailers as when folks would pull their boats to the lake the hubs would get warm. When they would back the trailer into the water, it would immediately cool the hubs causing contraction of the grease. This would allow water to get sucked into a standard hub cover and break down the grease inside. If you have any other questions, my # is in my profile.
  9. Were very happy it's you telling us this story instead of Sharon. Take care of yourself man, and enjoy the 2nd chance my friend
  10. I've got one Gary, I'll send it up tomorrow with the other package.
  11. Ok, Now I know what you want, I believe I have one, but let me double check...
  12. Gary, Are you talking about the tube on the upper right side of the bike that the sensor for the temp gauge fits into? If you are I believe I have one on the '85 parts bike I have here. Let me know and I'll double check to be sure I do have it.

    OOPS

No I dont, was it in Mongomery just North of Houston? If I had the cash I was going to buy a red one like that and it was in Montgomery. The price was definitely right
  14. He's filling out nicely, great news to hear there Grandpa
  15. Happy New Year to you and all our members here, may 2013 be one of our best ones
  16. If everything lights up and stations show that they are changing, you have a speaker wire issue or the change over from headset to speakers is malfunctioning. If you had a blown fuse nothing on the system would work. I have never heard of anyone just loosing the speakers, and the rest of the system is apparently working (there is always a 1st time though) I would 2nd checking that all the pins in the plugs are connected securely together.
  17. Thank you for your diligence Joe, may you be able to rest in peace and God be with your family.

  24. Luke, I dont know if you knew about this kit in the classifieds http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3878&title=first-gens-sbrake-line-delink-kit-21&cat=22 Here is something to keep in mind, when I changed my front brakes over, I ran into an issue with the banjo bolts, here's a link to a write up I did. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=65356 If you run into issues give me a call, my # is in my profile. "On the rear master, I removed line going to front end and plugged this port. Also required is to open the proportioning valve on the rear master and remove the spring, cup and plunger. This provides a clear path for fluid to travel while not needing to change rear brake hose. Picture attached of gutted parts. Leave gutted proportioning valve on master cyl." Thats a great idea Gary, I never even thought about that. I'm going to do this on my '86 as I have delinked the brakes on it.
