  1. I'm right here you big Goof! Good to see your mug on here again, I started to think that you wandered off into the Canadian wildness never to be seen again
  2. Happy Belated Birthday Stud Muffin!!!
  3. I remember one of our Canadian members (Mother) had a set of speaker pods on the top of his trunk. You would have to do some fabricating, but it can and has been done. Obviously you should use an after market radio as a stock stereo just isn't up to the task of pushing 4 speakers....
  4. Hey Brad (nice name) I see you have a '99, max in the front is 7psi max in the rear is 55psi. Use a hand pump to inflate the shocks, especially the front ones as you can blow the seals out pretty easily. I'm 280 lbs, on my G2's I would run 5 lbs in the front. Solo riding, 35 to 40 psi in the rear, 2 up 45lbs or so. Loaded up completely max it out at 55lbs....
  5. Happy Birthday Jeff!!!
  6. Steve, You have a PM from me with what you need
  7. I did a little digging and found this info on the '04 Volusia Front Tire Size 130/90-16 Rear Tire Size 170/80-15 At Motorcycle Superstore I found 2 styles of Shinko that I would run, the 230 Tour Master, which is sitting on my '86 right now. Then the 777 which I am going to try very soon. The 230 Tour Master is made in the sizes for the Volusia 130/90-16 Tour Master $69.99 170/80-15 Tour Master $87.99 130/90-16 777 is $77.99 The rear was not available in the exact size the closest size is a 160/80-15 $100.99 That rear tire is slightly narrower, and slightly shorter, but would work on the Volusia. You can see the savings, as anything over $89 is free shipping so your looking at $158.00 for the 230 Tour Masters (for both) and $179.00 for both of the 777's, here's the link. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/0/0/Motorcycle-Tire-Finder/Tires.aspx?WT.ac=All_Tires_-_Footer_1_05.07.12_TFBanner#&&Back=1-0-1-292-0-2-15-4
  8. FWIW....I put a set of the MT66 Pirelli's on Gunboats '99 RSV before he sold it. Now I know that an RSV and a Volusia are 2 different bikes, but I was not impressed with those tires at all. I personally will never buy them again. Now some guys might argue the statement I'm about to make, but I have had good luck with the Shinko's that I have put on my 1st gens. They are priced right and I like the performance out of them. The only draw back is they wear a bit quicker. I am going to try a different style of Shinko (the 777) on my '86 and see how they perform. I dont know what size the tires on the Volusia are, but you may want to see if they have a set that will fit it....
  9. That looks like part of the AIS system that the G2's have. There are 2 units, 1 is behind the radiator and is plugged into #3 intake manifold nipple. The 2nd one is down behind the underside of the engine, by the coils and is hooked into the #2 intake manifold nipple. That hose in your pic more than likely hooks up into the #3 manifold. Many folks discoinnect the AIS after the warranty is up if they start to get popping. Some here are against that, some folks do it. I'll bet thats what your looking at....
  10. I just looked that the parts breakdown for the inner tubes, the part #'s have a couple different prefixes. The '83 is 26H-23110-00-00, the '84 and '85 are 41R-23110-00-00, I checked the '86 which was the 1st year of the 1300cc MKII and it's part # and the '89 were the same at 3JJ-23110-00-00 I'm not sure what differences the prefixes make in the part, but I dont think they are different, I'll bet they are all the same part. I'll let some others chime in that might have a little better insight about the prefix numbers. I do have 2 sets of MKI '83 to '85 forks that I believe are in reasonable shape. If you'd like I could take a look and see what the tubes look like if you would need them.
  11. Rob, If you can scan the pages, or find them online and post them up here, it would help aleviate confusion. The upper fairing covers are hard to come by, you'll pay big for them in good shape. I have a couple of the factory stereo inserts for the top left side fairing cover. I also believe that I have the clutch cover your needing. The black insert you talk about, is this the louvered vent, the rubber cushion, or the 1/4 moon piece that goes between the steering head and the side of the panel? If we can narrow down what you need with some pics or diagrams we can get you pointed in the right direction
  12. Nice job on the install
  13. Hey Tommy, I seem to remember a couple of months back, you declared that it wasn't going to snow up there....how's that working out for you now that ticked off Mother Nature with such Blasphemy BTW 65 degrees here just North of Houston
  14. Gary, Round switches are still readily available, you can get them in lighted models as well. Are you running the fog lights through a relay? I know you probably know this already, if not it would be a great idea to do that as you will get more power to the lights and less strain on the switch. I'm not sure if the Kuryakyn switch box will fit on the 1st gen handle bar master cylinders. I can't think that they wouldn't as the majority of handle bar M/C are shaped pretty much the same. If you want, ride up here to Cleveland one weekend and we'll brainstorm and come up with a good plan....
  15. Make sure you get a "Ratchet" strap and not the ones you pull to tighten. A 1000 lb working strength and shorter (6') will work great. I dont have specifics on brand, but just look at the strap, there are thin and thick straps, thicker is better. If you can find ones with the safety latch that goes across the hook, thats a plus. I forgot where I bought the last 4 hi vis orange ones I bought, but they work well and I dont think twice about them. I have probably 20 straps in a leather back pack, so I'm like a Boyscout "Be prepared"
  16. The 22LR are going to be scarce for a long, long time. Guys are converting the AR15 to shoot them as that ammo was one of the 1st to get hoarded. When a certain government official talks, he is great for stimulating atleast 1 part of the economy
  17. Outstanding news Roy!! Let that boy know we are all pulling for him
  18. 1st 2 things I always put on is a backrest and highway pegs, those 2 items alone will make or break a long road trip....
  19. I would buy another one, but never a new one again. If I was going to spend the money they want now for a new one, I would seriously look for something else. There are things I dont like about the RSV, the charging system being the biggest thing. Comfort wise it is the best bike I have been on for long trips, but not for close to $20K now ....I know y'all didn't expect that answer out of me did you
  20. When you talk 1st gen here on the forum, the majority of us are thinking and talking 1983 to 1993 Ventures. Now your talking 1st generation royal stars (started in 1996), the 1st gen Royal Star has 28mm carbs. The 2nd generation Venture started in 1999 to present, has the 32mm carbs. I know it can get a bit frustrating but folks are trying to help here, so please keep this in mind.
  21. The G2 Venture and the early royal stars are not the exact same engine. Different carbs, cams and the early ones were detuned. If I'm not mistaken the carbs on the royal stars are 32mm and the Venture is 34mm. I know there are some others that will chime in, but the G2 Venture mentions 98hp at the crank, which transmits to mid 70's at the rear wheel.
  22. Nice Trady Toby!
  23. Roy, Were still pulling for your son and your family, keep the faith my friend. We can never hope to understand the wisdom of our God....all the best to you all.
  24. Happy Birthday!!!
