Idle is hi when warm
Squidley replied to Billkroeger's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Eck's suggestion is a good one, but I would absolutely have a carb sync done on the bike. Many times when the idle wont come down well the sync isn't right. Do a sync and see what happens. -
I will take the measurements tomorrow and get them to you

I think we can accommodate that Annie, how big is the southern cross sticker?

Thanks Kevin, I appreciate you jumping in and helping out

I couldn't help but play a bit, and mock the trailer up. So I took a couple pics so you can get an idea of what it will look like.

Buckeye HO upgraded stator
Squidley replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Vince, I had some issues with the 1st Ricks stator I installed, it grounded out to my case and I sent it back to have the issue corrected. They also sent me the wrong R/R, but have gotten that strait now. I haven't had the time here lately to reinstall the new "HO" Ricks stator or Hot Shot as they call it. I am hopeful that it will go together smooth and not give me any issues. Mine is an '86, so it had the cooling set up on it from the factory, the '83 and some of the '84's I believe needed to have an upgrade from the factory as they didn't have it. I am going to ever so slightly drill the oil hole out just slightly bigger to get more oil to pass over the stator and hopefully keep it cooler. I might also try a bit lighter weight oil to hopefully dissipate some of the heat as that is what kills the stators. As soon as I can give a real world opinion I'll get back here and do so. -
Another update, today I finally got the body and lid in color. I am pretty pleased with how it came out, not like a new car, but you can count your individual teeth in it. I'll be starting to assemble it this week and will give y'all some more shots of it.

Bump this back up to the top, I will be keeping this up top as much as I can, and thanks to the folks that have already started the bidding

Folks, Some of you have read Freebirds thread about Mike Knoffler (Snaggletooth) and the hardships he's going through right now. Mike is a long time member here, and even though he and I haven't been able to meet face to face, I talk with Mike often and consider him a friend. He's always been there to help many members out whether it's with an issue on their bike, or just a lending ear. I have donated 3 1st gen items that I put up in the classifieds in the auction section. All the proceeds will go directly to Mike, I will ship them at my cost in the continental US, and will discount shipping to Canada should a Canadian member want to purchase one or all of the items. Here are links to the auctions... http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4607&title=1st-gen-mki-chrome-lighted-rotor-covers&cat=20 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4606&title=1st-gen-chrome-front-fender-helmet&cat=20 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=4605&title=1st-gen-mki-backrest&cat=20 If any of y'all can help us out with this that would be great, do appreciate you looking at the auctions.

Rear Bearings First Gen
Squidley replied to yamagrl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I learn something new every day, thanks Carl -
MRE's have come a long way and have a good shelf life. This is a good idea to stock up on. Here in Houston we have hurricanes as well, we have a basic hurricane supply just in case. A generator a plus and fortunately we are on a well with septic in the property. Ammo is at hand so game could be gotten, I would just sit back and watch it all unfold. Nothing your going to do about it, just defend what is yours and keep thief's away....

Rear Bearings First Gen
Squidley replied to yamagrl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Heather, For the most part the bearings on the wheels are sealed. I know of some folks that can and do pull them apart to regrease them, but you can destroy one quick doing that if not careful. The part # is 93306-30437-00 and if you buy it through Yamaha Sports Plaza in Oregon the price is $22.04 + shipping, it's # 5 on the screen http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/a/yam/50042510f8700209bc788091/rear-wheel I wouldn't waste my time trying to pull one apart, for the money I would just buy a new one and ride -
Annie, Thank you for the offer, but I'll decline taking any payment. I took this on of my own free will and didn't ask y'all before I did any of this. I just want to be sure that you folks dont have any issues while your here in the states. It also will make it better when we auction it off when you donate it to the SAF fund. Just rest assured that it will be ready for you to take it as far as you want to. Were looking forward to seeing you and Alan again this year

Just a bit of an update, they are all doing very well. The black one (Blue) is REALLY filling out, I mean very muscular, he's going to be a VERY strong dog if he keeps going like he is. They are progressing nicely with becoming a bit more socialized. I might have 2 of them homes, we'll see how that plays out. Thanks again for all the good karma your sending, these pups are coming along well and Lonna and I couldn't be happier

Happy Birthday Hal!!!

Have you tried spraying inside it with some WD 40 or the likes?

I can be easily confused, but are you saying that your key is not going back into the ignition? Or is it just a bit of elation that you got to take her out for a nice stretch

Facebook would be the 1st place I would look at. Kind of a needle in a hay stack, but life is strange. Good on ya for trying to get it back to where it belongs
