We still have 4 of them here, as Heather has mentioned one went to her neighbor and is now Scarlet. Red is going to go on a road trip with us, Lonna's sister Darlene wants Red, who's name is going to be changed to Ceedee. We are planning to bring Red (aka Ceedee) north as we are going to drive up to MD at Freebirds. We'll just run into Michigan for the hand off and then travel down to Don's for the madhouse. Still looking to find homes for Blue and Brownie, Pink is obviously still staying with us. If anyone knows of a place for the last 2 I would appreciate the word of mouth, thanks again for the good vibes

Thousand mile trip on my '86 VR
Squidley replied to Chicago's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Chris, Your on the right track, change out all the brake fluids, including the clutch. If you haven't changed the pads, do it, then you have a starting point for your maintenance records. I always do a complete tune up on any bike I get that I dont know the maintenance of personally. New plugs, wires and caps, new fuel filter. Also make sure your carbs are synchronised, there's brothers in the Michigan neck of the woods that can and will help you with that. Take a copy of the VR assistance list with you just in case you have any issues. There are lots of folks all over the country how will drop what they are doing to come help a members out. You'll get others to chime in as well...have fun on your trip and if you dont have plans the weekend of June 8th, come to Oberlin Ohio SW of Cleveland for Freebirds Maintenance Day -
I have been texting with Don during the day. As of 8:15 pm CST he was in Clovis New Mexico and had covered 700 miles so far. He's doing good and I have been on his rear about stopping and getting rest if he feels sleepy. Anyone that has ridden or knows Don will attest that he's pig headed about getting rest. It's all good and I'll keep y'all updated as the trip progresses

I'll be honest with you, I slept through everything that happened. We are good here, Gunboat is right in Cleveland, were about 8 miles out of the city. Were good, I know yesterday evening there was some nasty storms running through the Fort Worth area around where Master guns lives. Hoping all is well with the folks up there in FW and Dallas.

Your welcome Annie, hell I might even bid on it when your through with it and it goes up for auction

Your trailer is pretty well done, besides pulling it behind my truck which will happen tonight and ready for Don to take it West All the carpet is back in, the lights have all been op checked, the dual locking latches have been installed and I installed new rubber seal along the inside of the lid to keep the water and critters out. Don went and got the new trailer plate and we installed it, so it's good for a year. I am very confident that this will serve you well while y'all are here in the US. I am interested in hearing what you think about it when Alan gets a chance to pull it

....and I'll raise your bump! -
We'll be glad to have you here, there's room at the house here so get after it and make it over! Bring your daughter too, she'll have a good time laughing at the old farts

Happy Anniversary to you both! I imagine after the enamor wore off, she just felt sorry for you

Thanks Dan

Your welcome Annie, we both are very happy to be able to have done this for y'all. I am going to hook it behind my truck and pull it around town on errands to break everything in (wise ass remarks to come I'm sure) and give it a good shakedown so there are no surprises. I'll then recheck the wheel bearings and add some more grease into the hubs. I'm looking forward to seeing it again when you and Alan come to Texas, and see some of the other emblems and stickers that end up on it

Listen here troublemaker, some of us sleep in on Sunday mornings Annie, we will make that happen. We actually talked about having a bon fire while y'all were here, so we will have a M&E and then we can head to either Gunboats or our place and burn some stuff....we'll make it happen
-
Not for a long, LONG time. I need a break, too much going on right now. get this '86 back together, finish the '83 and sell it, finish parting out the '99 and then get after the house and leveling it. If I retired tomorrow I wouldn't be able to stop work for the next 5 years atleast! I digress though, just wanted to com back on and say that all I have to do with the trailer is glue the carpet back in. Lid chains are installed and I rewired the entire trailer with all working well. I am VERY happy with how the trailer turned out, I hope that you and Alan are happy with it too Annie

Nice job Kevin, but I expect nothing less out of you my friend. James, I can tell you that machine you have has been well taken care of. Kevin is very good about keeping them in top condition...good on y'all

Getting down to the short strokes on this trailer. Gunboat has been here all day helping me along with the final assembly of it, and it is looking good! About 90% done, wire the lights, lid chains, and glue the carpet back in is just about all thats left. I have taken a few more pics, and Annie, there will be no mistaking to anyone here in the United States of where you and Alan are from

Letter from 1joeranger
Squidley replied to Freebird's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
That is an awesome story, but I expect nothing less from Ray. I remember him well and I am most certain that he will make another appearance at a MD in the future. Ray, all the best to you my friend, I'd tell you good luck with the healing, but somehow I feel that those are unnecessary words. Something tells me your gonna be fine...God HAS blessed you, so no need for me to repeat that either. Looking forward to seeing you again at some point -
Prayers Needed
Squidley replied to Double D's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
It's good to see you posting David, although the circumstances aren't the best. We'll talk with the great one and hope that you can find the relief you need and get your life back to where you want it. I echo what Brad T mentioned...all the best to you. -
Happy Belated Birthday Walter!!!
