  1. All the best for the folks involved in the accident.
  2. The feeling is mutual my friend
  3. I'll keep an eye on what y'all are doing as Lonna and I will be caging it in a CJ7 that we are bringing back down south. We'll be at my Dads and leaving from there to head to Don's. If it works out, we'll hook up with the caravan and follow y'all down into Ohio.
  4. Anytime you do any playing with the carbs, it is a good idea to put a carb sync on it. Many of us here have bit the bullet and purchased a Carbtune. I use mine ALL the time, and there are many here in the Houston area that are happy I have one they can use. One of the best tools I have spent money on. I would second also that you turn the idle up slightly.
  5. The Shinko 230 Tourmaster is a decent tire for a great price. I have had several sets of them and right now I have a set that is on an '83 I have. The rear generally doesn't last a long time, I got 7500 miles out of my last one. That being said, the front went over 12K for mileage and they stick like glue. They are a softer compound so this is why they dont get a lot of miles. I have just purchased a different set of Shinko's for my '86, the 777 and I like the cuts on them. I dont expect to get a lot of mileage out of them either, the compound is soft, but I expect that the performance will be very good. The 777's cost me $168 shipped to my door through motorcycle superstores warehouse. My next set of tires for the '86 will probably be the Avon Venoms, which I have used for years. I just cheaped out this time and went for the different Shinkos so I could comment on how they perform and last.
  6. Or once you get in with Toyota, you can have them transfer you to San Antonio where they make the Tundra. Then you would be close to plenty of members
  7. Paul, It appears that you can check the resistance on the pick up coils. It's the 5 wire plug, disconnect it and measure between the black and the remaining 4 other wires. Ensure that you are measuring the wire that is going down to the side case and not the section going into the wiring harness of the bike. Their colors are Orange, Grey, White/Green, White/Red the ohm reading your looking for is between 93.5 and 126.5. If you have a manual it is in the #7 section, electrical area. It's page 7-36 in my '86 to '93 manual, I'm sure it's close in the 1200 manual as well.
  8. Just worth here, make sure the bore is perfect. I have not personally had good luck with rebuilding slaves. That could just be me, I have done 4 and 3 haven't lasted. It has to be clean enough to eat off.
  9. I have to say that I love the 2nd pic with he and his sister, the look on her face is priceless! Good on both of your kids, we need more warriors like your son, I can only imagine the pride you have for your children in uniform....y'all did real good raising them
  10. No problem Jim, glad to be able to help. Hope you get it on the run and we see you at MD
  11. If that shoe fits....wear it with pride
  12. You'll get sunshine here in the great state of TEXAS!!!
  13. Bike cranks over, just no spark. Could be fuse, but he mentioned he checked them. I had him check the kill switch and it is cycling the fuel pump, so that sounds ok. I'm having him check the 6 wire plug for the pick up coils to see how it is right now.
  14. Jim, Yamaha Sports Plaza in Oregon has always been good to me. Here is the link to their site and the clutch for your '89. Buy the whole unit, dont try to repair your old one as it's a crap shoot if it will work properly. It's part # 28 and the part # for it is 1FK-16381-11-00 http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/a/yam/5107f837f870022108d65773/clutch Or you can see if Pioneer in Buffalo has it....
  15. Not yet, Paul and I are texting eachother. It's late and if he can get someone with a trailer I have suggested to trailer it home. A good nights rest and a fresh mind have done wonders for me when I have had these issues.
  16. There will be other instigators there.....
  17. Yeah, I know about blowing up rear tires at speed
  18. Gary, He has one of the ignitec's in the bike now, the one I bought from you that was in Tweety. The bike just up and died and I'm steering him towards the side stand switch and how to jumper it to bypass it.
  19. Happy Belated Birthday Tricia!!!
  20. Thank you for your service Chief...and God Bless all our fallen brethren.
  21. Kent, Please PM or call me (936 232 9299) I need your mailing address to send you the fender helmet that you won in the auction for Snaggletooth.
  22. The Blank Check.... Some of you know exactly what I mean when I say that. It wasn't me that coined the phrase, but I was one that signed that check in 1985. 6 1/2 years after that the check wasn't cashed, 22 years ago I received the check back. Today I look back in reflection of the hundreds of thousands that signed that check and never received it back. Today, Memorial day 2013, I look back and I am very grateful and humbled that so many didn't get their checks back. Today is, for me personally, a hallowed day. A day where I thank all the fallen in my heart, and the ones who served before, with and after me. People like Herb Giles, Don Cumpston Keith Soleau, James Rich, Perry Kuhns, Owen Quartels, Dana Braquet, Gary Dinges, and many others to name here. Thank you all for the sacrifices you made, for protecting our country, and for being my friends. To all the Warriors that have served, Past, Present and Future, and the countries that have stood by our side and died with us, Semper Fidelus and God Bless All of You. AMS3 Brad Newby
