  1. He was thinking of Lost in Space & Buck Rogers at the same time Besides we needed this kind of post after the BIG crash
  2. It was explained to me that running higher octane is not worth it. 87 octane actually burns hotter than 91, the higher octane is for engines over 11 to 1 compression, the Ventures are 10 to 1. I run 87 in all my bikes and NEVER have any problems with it....I wouldn't waste your money on it.
  3. Yes that would also be correct
  4. DOH.....I hate when that happens!
  5. I had posted up a responce on a thread in the watering hole about stopping a crack in your windshield. As far as stopping the crack, you need to get a very tiny drill bit and locate the end of the crack. Take the drill and drill a small hole through the exact point at where the crack ends. In the service we did this to aircraft (called stopdrilling) It relieves the pressure on the crack and stops it from traveling more.
  6. Wayne, Rick at Buckeye is a good source for the braided lines and EBC HH pads are a real good set to use, have 'em on the '99 and I'm very pleased with them.

    Carb cover

Gary is right the Royal Star and the RSV covers are different. I had a set off a RS and they will not work on the RSV
  8. I might be wrong but they look like the drivers floor boards for a heel/toe setup, personally I would let those pass as you will probably never find that rubber missing for the one.
  9. Definitely a drag John, never a good time to hear anything like that. I will say that it's good to hear that you were able to spend some time with him before he passed. I remember my grandmother telling me how much it meant for my Grandfather to spend time with me when I came home from the Gulf in '91. Keep those good times in your head, we never realise how fortunate we are until it's too late. .....Semper Fi my friend, and be safe if you ride the scoot out there
  10. Randy...your always full of good practical info Bud! That would be a steady hand to drill that small screw...glad it worked out for you!
  11. You can try the gravity bleed first by tying the handle open overnight. If you get no results then do the standard bleed, I did the clutch on my '99 while we were in Vogel this year with Freebird and Eck in no time. Personally I would say to bleed it out and replace all the fluid as it's more than likely been years since it has been done. Another thing you might want to think about is replacing the clutch springs, not hard stuff, let me know if you need help.
  12. I have the Kuryakyn Trunk bag that is depicted in this ebay auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GOLDWING-1800-GL1800-KURYAKYN-TRUNK-RACK-BAG_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35580QQihZ010QQitemZ200027738115QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW If you have a reese reciever on the bike then you could also put a small platform on like this one from Diamond R http://diamondraccessories.com/saddlemate/proddisplay.php?name=Saddlemate Other than that your at the mercy of how light you can pack...good luck in the quest!
  13. John, I have a battery tender jr. and it works great. The biggest thing about it is that it will not over charge your battery as it will cut off when the battery meets a specific charge. A trickle charger will continue to charge all the time and not shut off. The Jr. is a trickle charger but will not over charge the battery....my .02 worth is buy the Jr.
  14. Those definitely are a cool gadget! Kind of funny, we used something very similar to keep our shirts pulled taught and socks pulled up in the military on dress uniforms.

    My Dad

I still, fortunately, have my male role models in my life...all 3 to be exact (long story maybe later) But I dread the thought of knowing that they aren't going to be here forever. Great pics of you and you Pa....thanks for sharing them
  16. Scott, You mention about wanting to hook up additional items into the Aux plug. You can get multiple splitters that can be hidden behind the front fairing and then descreetly wired along the handlebars to their relative connections. ...just something to think about, with having all 3 if you so wish. you can run all of your items through the helmet with the intercom and then your volume descrepancy might be taken care of.
  17. Rick hit it on the head, After doing 28 days on the bike and almost 10000 miles I cancelled my XM account. It was worse that some of the radio stations locally, and I listened to several stations. I dont know if I'll wast my money with another Sat radio. I haven't tried the Sirius so I can't comment on that one, just dont know if I want to come off the money to buy the radio and then the setup charge to see that it's the same thing as the XM. I think that I'll go to another MP3 player...at least the music in it will be stuff that I want to listen to.
  18. Flash, Always hard to loose a pet, dad had a Beagle named Freeway for 17 years. When he finally had to put her down it was the saddest day I can remember. I have only seen my dad cry 3 times...and that was one of them. God Bless you Bro, maybe a few tankfuls are in order....be safe.
  19. I dont have speakers in my helmet as I listen to the bikes speakers. I have a J&M mic on the helmets and the quality is is very good. Some have commented that when I talk over the CB that it's very clear and sounds great. I really dont think you can get a speaker inside a helmet that sounds good, too small of a space. I will say that J&M is top of the line and like anything of quality...you pay for it.
  20. Missy, We are all here for you and share in your loss, thank you for trusting us with such a private matter. Again let us know what we can do to help you out, we dont see Gods wisdom from the bottom...only from the top. God Bless you and your family
  21. Yamaha is the only one that I know who makes this style of spoiler
  22. Mike, The Spoilers only come in Black and Primed if I'm not mistaken, you would have to purchase some of the paint and have it painted to match your bike. The paint is not cheap either, I forget who I was talking to but he had to go this route to paint his spoiler on his Black Cherry.
  23. FWIW I'll throw this in... The Pledge or Plexus is a good way to polish out small scratches in your shield. I would recommend that you first clean it with plain ol' water to get all the bugs and crap off it. Spray the polish on and rub it off in an up and down motion, this will keep swirl marks to a minimum and make it clearer to see through. There are some plastic polishers as mentioned (Mcguires) but if you dont have a lot of time dont bother. A new windshield can be purchased for about $70 for a 1st gen and $100 for a G2...just $0.02 worth from the peanut gallery.
  24. Todd, The easiest way is to call Rick H at Buckeye performance and order everything from him. He'll sell you everything you need at a decent price and it will all be right. 7mm is the only size you can use as 8mm is too large to fit into the coils correctly. Also use the stock plugs...dont go hotter as there is no need for it. here's the website http://www.buckeyeperformance.com
