  1. I know some folks have been following this thread, here's an update. I sent out my Charging system to Electrex in California last Wednesday or Thursday (CRS sucks) so the ball is finally rolling. I'll tell you all that it was a huge PIA to get all of the items off the bike. If they can come up with a better deal that cool, but it may be a lot more hassle than it's worth as the wire diameter might need to be upgraded to a larger size to accomodate more current if that is the case. I'll be talking to Paul here in the next day or two and I'll keep everybody abreast on whats going on.
  2. Well even if your tank is the same as ours (6 gal) reserve comes on with about a gallon and a half in the tank. Seems your getting low 30's for mileage, sounds a bit low. Sync the carbs and run some seafoam through it, that could help you out a bit.
  3. Thanks for the heads up Marc, if it works out well enough we might be able to pick one up to give away at Ft. Collins...that would be cool
  4. I'm not sure on the 1st gens but on my '99 I ordered the SB 8125 L but these dont fit the front calipers, they are too big. Larry mentioned the SB7100's and I'm sure these fit the front calipers. The SB8125 fit the rear caliper and the clutch slave, so if you want to order them get 2 of the SB8125's and 2 of the SB7100's. I wouldn't recommend getting the longs (SB8125L) like I did either, just buy the standard length ones. There will be a clearance issue on the clutch slave with the small rubber cover that fits over it. I'll be ordering the correct ones here in the next few days
  5. I had remembered some time ago folks talking about Speed Bleeders. Well I'm here to tell you that I put some in my '99 and had my rear brake fluid completely swapped with fresh fluid in less than 5 minutes. I installed one on my clutch and had it bled in about the same time. If your thinking about getting these, dont wait, they work fantastic! I did it by myself and it was so easy it's stupid I would highly recommend this product http://www.speedbleeder.com/
  6. Those are pretty slick, cheaper than many that I have seen
  7. Mark, I do believe that there is a Virago forum like ours here, have her go check out their site as they might have a tech library that would answer any questions.
  8. Use a lighter or a small butane torch...thats how I shrink mine if I dont use my heat gun.
  9. Ron, So sorry to hear that my friend, wish there was something that could have been done. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers....let us know if you need anything.
  10. I am in the process (bike in the air and ready to be tore down) with getting the items sent to California to electrosport. I have just been way to busy to be able to latch onto it. I will get it there and they can figure out what needs to be done. Just a little more paitence with me and I will get it there
  11. I'm working on that Kenny...you'll be one of the 1st to know when I get there
  12. Now that has a good ring to it!
  13. I found a few more pics for you Bro...Be safe
  14. My Friend, My heart aches for you, I like everyone else was totally unprepared to hear the news. I sit here shaking my head and try to comprehend what all is happening.....I cannot do it. I cant imagine what you are feeling besides the obvious. There is no magical phrase that helps to ease the pain, I have tried many times to find the words. I feel empty, and recall all the times we were able to spend with both of you. I keep those times close to my heart, now more than ever. Please know that you are loved my friend, as along with your family, there are 2000 brothers and sisters here that will be your crutch. As it has been mentioned if there is ANYTHING AT ALL you need, you call on us and we will be there. I will leave you with this poem, we love you Brother...your in our prayers Irish Tombstone Prayer Death is nothing at all, I have only slipped away into the next room. Whatever we were to eachother, that we are still Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used to. Laugh as we always laughed together. Play, Smile, Think of me, Pray for me. Let my name be the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effort. Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was, there is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well, nothing is past, nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before...Only better, infinitely happier and forever we will all be one together with Christ
  15. Jerry, Very Very nice job on it bud I'm sure that will turn many heads as your rolling along. You ARE going to be riding it to Freebirds on Maintenance Day right?!
  16. The '83 to '85's are just a bit different in where they mount, so they will only work on the 1200's
  17. You have a great imagination there, that is very nice
  18. Now were talking!!!
  19. Dont accept second quality, for the price they want for those seats I would definitely send it back.
  20. Thats probably a great deal for Canada, but I use Southwest Moto Tire. 1 because they donated the tires on Charlies bike and 2 they are the cheapest. I can get 2 Avon shipped (Free when you buy 2) for $230, then about $80 worth of mounting and balancing and your golden. If any of our Ontario members want to ship them here to my place just let me know.
  21. Your alright in my book Larry, you making 2nd gen stuff and me making 1st gen...I still have some nice ideas for my '99 if I get the time to do them before the season starts
  22. Rick, I have the ones (clear) off my '99, if you cant come up with anything let me know and we'll get you squared away Bud
  23. I'm working on the power with some folks in California, I'll hopefully be sending my stator flywheel and regulator out there for some R&D soon. Dont give up hope on the RSV....we'll get this figured out yet
  24. Looks good Buddy, I might have to try that on the '99 if we ever get out of the deep freeze
  25. Ok...here's an update I talked with Paul Brent @ Electrosport and we got on the same page. I am going to be the Guinea Pig with my '99 to help them develop a more useable charging system for the G2's. I really dont know anything technical about the charging systems, so I wont be able to give you any good answers. What we did talk about was assessing the needs that we have for the bikes and developing a charging system that will better suit us. I am going to take off my regulator, Stator and magnetic flywheel and send them to California where they will test the actual capacity of the stock unit and see what they can come up with for us. I'll keep you updated as I am filled in on the progress
