Larry, The batteries in any Venture works very hard as the damn charging systems aren't worth a crap. I think thats the biggest problem with it and we have a lot of other electrical goodies on our bikes. I change mine out about every 2 years and get a quality battery. I believe Don has an Oddessy in his '99 and it's 4 years old, might want to think of getting one in the future. ...BTW have fun on the bike and put on some miles for me, I still have no charging system

Seems like a pretty fair deal if it would stand up to the abuse it would get on the bikes. It seems that the prices of all the GPS units are coming down everyday
-
The front tread design looks like it should tread water pretty good, let us know how it does in the twists. It might just turn out to be a good inexpensive alternative to some of the other higher priced tires we buy

They are still doing R&D on my charging system, I haven't heard from Paul as of yet. As soon as he get's ahold of me I'll come back to this thread and let you all know what is going on -
Dave, Shoot me your address and I'll ship off my holesaw so you can drill out the baffles. When your done you can just send it back...hows that sound??

Just remember too that you only want about 40 lbs of tounge weight on the bike. You'll have to experiment with loading the trailer correctly, heavier items toward the center and back. It takes a bit of practice but you'll get it handled

Then it's designated as a "Special Delivery" Vehicle

I have pulled trailers behind both gens of Ventures with no problem. In all kinds of weather including 50 mph winds. There are time that you wont even feel a trailer behind you (Your pop up will be a bit different). Biggest thing to remember is that you keep a larger stopping distance, if the trailer comes with electric brakes then I would utilize them. Just use good common sence and you will have no problems.

I paid $32 for all 4 shipped to my door, they were $7 apiece I believe. As easy as it was to change the brake fluid on my bike, they were worth every penny

I know some folks have been following this thread, here's an update. I sent out my Charging system to Electrex in California last Wednesday or Thursday (CRS sucks) so the ball is finally rolling. I'll tell you all that it was a huge PIA to get all of the items off the bike. If they can come up with a better deal that cool, but it may be a lot more hassle than it's worth as the wire diameter might need to be upgraded to a larger size to accomodate more current if that is the case. I'll be talking to Paul here in the next day or two and I'll keep everybody abreast on whats going on. -
Fuel reserve question
Squidley replied to TheBreeze's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Well even if your tank is the same as ours (6 gal) reserve comes on with about a gallon and a half in the tank. Seems your getting low 30's for mileage, sounds a bit low. Sync the carbs and run some seafoam through it, that could help you out a bit. -
Thanks for the heads up Marc, if it works out well enough we might be able to pick one up to give away at Ft. Collins...that would be cool

I'm not sure on the 1st gens but on my '99 I ordered the SB 8125 L but these dont fit the front calipers, they are too big. Larry mentioned the SB7100's and I'm sure these fit the front calipers. The SB8125 fit the rear caliper and the clutch slave, so if you want to order them get 2 of the SB8125's and 2 of the SB7100's. I wouldn't recommend getting the longs (SB8125L) like I did either, just buy the standard length ones. There will be a clearance issue on the clutch slave with the small rubber cover that fits over it. I'll be ordering the correct ones here in the next few days

I had remembered some time ago folks talking about Speed Bleeders. Well I'm here to tell you that I put some in my '99 and had my rear brake fluid completely swapped with fresh fluid in less than 5 minutes. I installed one on my clutch and had it bled in about the same time. If your thinking about getting these, dont wait, they work fantastic! I did it by myself and it was so easy it's stupid I would highly recommend this product http://www.speedbleeder.com/

Those are pretty slick, cheaper than many that I have seen

Mark, I do believe that there is a Virago forum like ours here, have her go check out their site as they might have a tech library that would answer any questions.

Ron, So sorry to hear that my friend, wish there was something that could have been done. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers....let us know if you need anything.

I am in the process (bike in the air and ready to be tore down) with getting the items sent to California to electrosport. I have just been way to busy to be able to latch onto it. I will get it there and they can figure out what needs to be done. Just a little more paitence with me and I will get it there -
