  1. Yeah, I can attest to that
  2. Jim, I agree with Muffin, my '99 did the sme thing last year on the way to Vogel and I swapped out the fluid down there and it solved the problem
  3. Just where Redneck mentioned
  4. It wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the pads, less than $100 and you have the peace of mind of having them on.
  5. It's pretty fairly invovled, unless a previous owner put in grease fitiings on it, you'll have to pull a lot of it apart. I know it's not the answer you wanted to hear, but unfortunately that it
  6. Cool...can't wait to hear them in FC
  7. Bill, When you go into a specific area you'll see a tab up at the top of the page that says new thread. Click it and it will bring up a screen where you can start a new thread and ask whatever questions you have. There are many different areas that you can post questions. I see you have a 1st gen so some of your technical questions will be strated in the 1st gen section. it will take a bit of getting used to but once you get it, it will be like second nature BTW Welcome to the club!
  8. Aren't they fun!!! That is one of the worst jobs to do on a 1st gen...I have done 3 of them to date
  9. I know JT...I just have to yank a few chains every once in a while My '99 will probably need some TLC in 2019 also
  10. I really want to rag on that 1st gen of yours....but I'm WAY above such immature behavior
  11. Carlos, I understand your frustration, but there is a point where one has to outweigh the cons and possibly just look for a Royale with all the bells and whistles It's not bad if your just wanting to tinker, buy trying to upgrade a bike that wasn't designed with all the stuff can make you pull your hair out I'm sure you'll get it going and come to the point you wanted to....go put some wind in your hair and it will all work out
  12. They are the same...your good to go
  13. I know there have been a lot of folks following this thread since it started. Unfortunately I have some not so good news to add here, take it for what it's worth. Just recently when I got the charging system back I believe I mentioned that my stator wasn't assembled correctly when it was shipped back. I fixed that problem and installed it. Then the system wouldn't charge, to which I found my regulator was bad. Electrosport shipped me out one of theirs next day air, that was nice. Wednesday before last as I was coming home from work my '99 died for no apparent reason. It turned out after some sleuthing that my charging system wasn't working and I bought a new battery thinking this was the problem...it wasn't. The regulator that I recieved from Electrosport had died, it's only about 90 days old and in the process my wires that connect to the unit started to melt. Now I'm no electrical genius, I don't claim to know anything electrical wise besides some simple obvious things. Before I started this deal with Electrosport I had ZERO problems with the bikes charging system. Now I am having nothing but fits. I further find out talking with one of our members here that has a Vstar that on their Delphi forum Electrosport bally hooed about upgraded charging systems on the V*'s. They had nothing but trouble with the parts that they recieved and Electrosport dropped off of their forum. I don't want this to be misconstrewed, this might not be Elecrosports fault, but they are VERY hard to get ahold of and it seems as if all signs are pushing towards a possible inferior product with not much support. I have to say that I personally wont be using any of their products anymore. The upgraded stator that they are supposedly making for me will not go into my bike. I dont have a good feeling for the product or the lack of response that I have not been recieving. You all will have to decide for yourselves, and by no means do I expect anyone to take my advise. I just wanted to give you a heads up on what has happened to me with all of this and you all can decide for yourselves...Just figured you might like to know Here are some pics of what happened with my bike
  14. All of the oil isn't removed when you do an oil change. There is still a bit left over in the middle gear case. It ususally takes about 3.5 qts to do with the filter change. No worries, you didn't hurt anything and it's just another goof that is in the manual. BTW Good to have you with us, never any dumb questions here...so if you have questions, just ask
  15. I more than likely could handle it, but they wouldn't be cheap as there would be a lot involved in making them. A better bet is looking for a set on Ebay, besides I dont have the time to do what I need to do .....but I appreciate the vote of confidence
  16. They do work well on most of the bike that they are installed on, but I can't give a 100% because Swiftys bike is posessed! Dave here is my only disclaimer...but I still love him
  17. I ordered the rear light for the 1st gen we gave E-Fishin-C last year and was pretty happy with it, I had no problems with it or their service
  18. Thats the only place I buy tires after they donated a set for one of our members bike project
  19. I'm running the Michelin Commanders right now to try them out, so far I have no complaints. I have usually run Avon Venoms and I really like them, have had 3 sets between 1 1st gen and 1 2nd gen I got about 13K out of the last set on my '99 and that was going cross country pulling a trailer and loaded heavy with 2 up. We'll see if the Michelins will stand up to that
  20. Ian, On the G2's the coolant overflow is behind the right side cover under the drivers seat, the fill spout is under that seat. It should be fine since it's new , but if you want to check it thats where it's at. I run my rear shock at about 40 lbs loaded and 2 up we too are "Cuddley" the front shocks I run at about 3 or 4 lbs. Make sure your tires are aired up properly, I would suggest to almost the max pressure if your going to be abit heavy. The CB is just that, turn it on and press the talk button, the owners manual would be a good idea to brush up on as if your not familiar with the radio it can be intimidating....have fun and be safe
  21. Yes that is the factory Yamaha light bar, and I too like being a bit different (that will open up a can of worms I'm sure)
  22. The ones I have on my '99 are off an H/D, turn signals and all...here's a few pics.
  23. Carbon Ones lift adapter is the best thing going, I have one and love it. I also have that jack from Sears and it works very well. All the advise given is right on the money
  24. Both my '99's needed greasing but it's a crap shoot with who puts them together and if they know what they are doing PS Avons are great tires...you wont be disappointed
  25. Scotty's advise is very good, I have used both the EBC pads and installed the Oddessy batteries.
