  1. You can make it fit, but you'll have to also get the front crash bars from a 1300 and there are some little tabs that go on the top bolts of that assy....it can be done.
  2. I have heard that you can punch this V4 out to 1600 cc's, but I dont know how thin that would make the cooling walls on it. Can you imagine the power from a 1600 cc Venture
  3. Here is the post http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12714 TupperJ is going to start making the cables since I have decided to quit doing it. He should be up and rolling soon, but thats who you would need to contact.
  4. I'll be interested in this too as I just smoked a set of new rear pads in less than 5K and chewed the rotor up...looks like I need to send Rick a PM
  5. I dont think it's going to dent the fuel economy at all, the engine will be in a better RPM for the powerband and it's "sweet spot" I have been wanting to do this for about a year now and I just never got to it. Looks like I'll be sending that spare G2 rearend I bought for it in and have it done
  6. Cool!!
  7. Looking forward to hear how the new rearend "feels" Keep us updated
  8. That is good advise and I know that many folks here have done just that. When I had my 1st gens that exactly what I did and loved every minute of it
  9. Steve, The sound is one of the biggest things as you can drill them out quite easily for a nice bark when you get into the throttle. I personally like them better than the stock pipes as the slash cuts match the angle of the rear saddlebags perfectly. I have never been a fan of the 1st gen mufflers looks, they're ok but nothing that I go crazy about. These H/D pipes are much better looking on the RSV's as they are a nice fat look. I think they flow better with the lines of the RSV...just my .02
  10. Me thinks there might be a problem there....I have never heard of that one before
  11. Nate, If your bike doesn't have a CB on it, then I would scrap the stock radio and buy a CD player aftermarket radio with an auxillary jack in it. This way you can plug your MP3 player in it for the best sound quality and use CD's also should you choose to. Put a different set of speakers in it that match the power output of the radio and your good as gold
  12. You'll have to make some brackets and do some modifying to the pipes coming out of the collector. It has been done by a few of the members here and there are some posts on it. Go to the search bar above and look for Muffler brackets or Roadking mufflers.
  13. Sounds like I will send them my rearend and have them do the swap. Less chance that I will miss something up....Gotta do some overtime
  14. So your just getting the gears for $300 with old gear exchange Don? I have an additional rear pig that I purchased for the swap I have planned for mine. Looks like I'll have to check this site out and see about getting some shipped here
  15. I had seen that one, pretty ingenious idea, I still like mine a bit more solid and will stick to the ones that I make
  16. The drawing that Eck put up will not fit a 1st gen, it's just for the G2's. There are other cheap methods of making brackets for the R/K mufflers. I know I saw another post not too long ago with a different clamp system.
  17. Good to hear it! Progressives are the best cheap handling upgrade that a 1st genner can do. Glad that the site helped you out, now get on and ride!!!
  18. Buy a progressive shock and forget about that Class system
  19. Ok...I see how you are Craig and did yours turn out PERFECT????....Yes they did
  20. Absolutely, Progressives are the best and easiest fix to tighten up the handling of the 1st gens
  21. Rick, I will be bringing my Electrical box and a drill, we can put it on there if you want to do that. I'd really like to see how one of these looks as I have been looking into exactly this for the '99
  22. Me thinks I'll be ordering one of these when we get back from Colorado, hope it's on your bike Rick when we get there
  23. We were riding with 99Sliver (Gary Frase) and a dog did the same thing to him. It went for his fork tube and he nailed it, threw it about 15 feet through the air. He didn't have much time to react, and didn't try to avoid it. Took out his lower left cowling and some other plastic pieces. Amazingly the dog was still alive after being hit at 45 mph, I agree...sometimes they just aren't too bright
  24. Jim, This is what I use for all the brake fluid needs on all my bikes. Todd....you must have been watching the "The Quick and The Dead"
  25. Very Nice Zag! From a fabricator standpoint that is truly a work of art. I love to see original ideas and your is definitely original. How does it handle being raked out like it is? Hope to meet up with you soon and see that machine, very nice job
