    WTF?!?

Bottom line for me is that most of the HD stuff is better quality than the Yamaha. Their chrome is better and I like the design of some items VS the Yamaha...take the turn signals for example. It was like, build a beautiful bike and then realise that "Oh crap, this thing has to have turn signals" RK slash cut pipes look like they were designed to be opn a G2. Not a matter of me wanting it to be a Harley, just having the best of both worlds. Besides, I can't afford a new H/D otherwise I just might have a Road Glide in the shed instead of an RSV...plus I like to go fast every once in a while
  2. You folks are always in our thoughts bro, hard to hear that Eileen is going through this again We send our love and give us a call if you all need anything...even if it's a night out ...be safe my friend ...and yes it is way too early to be this cold!
  3. I faired a bit better as I had 3 of them jump in front of me on my way to work Friday morning. Threaded the needle between the 2nd and 3rd one, only about 5 feet between them Glad I didn't take one out....not looking forwrad to something like that. They will heal, but it sure is a drag...they are in our thoughts.
  4. Well thats no good Did SD give you no hassles when you wanted to return it? Thanks for letting us know
  5. Something to remember is that there is a right side vent and a left one. They are different parts and NOT interchangeable, so make sure you get the specific side for the bike
  6. It was 48 here this morning on my ride to work and it felt just like Fall...so I am going to call it, Fall started here in Michigan today
  7. I would start at the plugs and just put new ones in there. Yes you do have to take off the tank (not a big deal) and the forward dogbones that connect to the engine. I would recommend that you just go back to the original plugs and not worry about Iridium or anything fancy. The choke mention by John is also a good one, make sure it is completely off. These are starting points to go by, if your still having troubles after the plug change let us know and we'll chisel it down and figure it out
  8. James, Depending on what your trying to accomplish (besides the obvious) a handheld sand blaster might do the trick. I have one and it works pretty slick, you could actually leave the bolts in if you chose to. Then just wipe down with a degreasing solvent and prime/paint....something to think about
  9. If your getting a grinding sound when you turn, then there is more than likely a problem with the bearings. If that is what the problem turns out to be and your not real mechanically inclined then I would suggest that you let an experienced mechanic look into it. It is a pretty involved process to take it apart and regrease the steering head bearings.
  10. I have the same one as Rex does, it works slick and theres no wiring to screw around with.
  11. Wish it was different for you, I'm not sure that I could hang it up myself. Best of luck in getting it sold...be safe
  12. Sorry to hear that Jim Not that you haven't thought about it...but would making it a trike help you out
  13. Post some pics of it Ken, I would like to see what you have come up with
  14. Dont waste your money on the BB's as the fitting in the back does the same as the ones in front, Red Rider is on the money too with his description
  15. I had a member come over with a "Noise" on his bike. We tracked it down and it turned out to be the same as you. A PIA but unfortunately it does happen
  16. No, actually I installed the leveling links on my '99 and went back to the stock size. I got the same handling result as the 130 but was able to keep the wider tire. I found that the 150 is more stable in high winds and such, learned that somewhat the hard way last year
  17. Kreg, Your looking for the Venom X's 150/80-16 on the front and 150/90-15 on the rear. I run these tires and your RSV will feel like a whole new bike Here's where I buy mine from as they have great prices and have donated a set of tires for a project bike that we did last year. www.swmototires.com
  18. The one with Eck in it loos like he's about to fall on his face by the beer in his hand...he just might have Sure wish we could have been there
  19. Todd, Quick question here, is your bike a Royale and does it have a CB? If it doesn't have a CB then I would seriously think of just going with an aftermarket radio/CD player. The sound system on the 1st gens is terribly dated and cassettes are hard to come by (unless your a collector) This is just my opinion, but upgrade to something with a built in amplifier that has an auxillary jack so you can hook an MP3 player or sattilite into it. You can match up a set of speakers to handle the output and have a far superior sound system that what came stock in '85 ...If you have the factory CB on your bike and it works then disregard my statement
  20. That would be nice...I'd like to get there on the bike
  21. I'm not 100% positive on this, but if it will work on an '05 RSV then it should work on an '07 as they havent changed anything on the bike that I am aware of.
  22. Sounds like this might be a good idea, Lonna and I went the BPW from Cherokee to Ashville. I like it Get a date together and we can plan accordingly...thanks to you and Jeff for grabbing the bull
  23. Good to be back in contact with you Roy I'm sure there will be more members that will be getting ahold of you
  24. So you bought Allan H's old 1st gen...good on ya. Thats going to be a good bike for you, it has a storied history and has been to MANY of the VR.org events. If your not busy on Saturday shoot up to the Meet and eat at Starved rock...here's the post http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13634
  25. I ended putting one on my trunk...it's still growing on me It will have to be modified to give proper alignment, I'll try to post some pics of it tonight after work.
